Sorry to have dragged this out for so long but I needed to see the mechanics of an endgame.

I know normally black should have resigned awhile back.

I would like to play it out a bit longer just to see how it unfolds, if you don't mind. I won't overthink it.

Anything adjacent to your king is safe from my king, so if the entire royal entourage marches downfield to promote a pawn, I don't think black can prevent it.

N-KN3, if you would humor me for a move or two...

You forgot to call check.

Not quite enough reach. I got:

[attachment=o230275]

If that's correct, you're good at K4 and can avenge either pawn that I have forked.

Actually, looks like your move might be P - K6. Puts me in check and stops my harrassment for a move.

My intent is to sacrifice the knight, if necessary, to take out one of your pawns, and try to get the other with my king. Dunno if that causes a draw or not. Preventing promotion seems like my strongest weapon at this point. (?)

I'm having trouble deciding on a move. I've become fixated on the prospect of forcing your queen to move with my knight. But that doesn't do anything you can't undo, and it develops the knight to BFE.

Just wanted to check in.

Just wanted to check in.

I wouldn't advise it.

This game is all about position.
That move would make Black's position stronger.
And white's weaker.

Your queen is well protected, but over-worked.
While white dominates the center, that bishop on the queen's toes is pinn-able, and there for winnable.

You might want to rectify that situation before emasculating that poor knight.

Good to see you're still breathin'

Had some more pain, so I made some green draggin'. Wasn't really expecting it to work very well, so I got a bit of a surprise, whatever day that was...:D

And, the latest meds spent a little longer under more adequate lighting (11 - 661's and 2 blues) and one knock is too much for chess. And, I'm afraid I'm not in such a good spot all of a sudden. (Things always seem to go so well during those manic swings!)

So, I will try B - K3.

You may be tickled to know that I fried several dozen IR LEDs in my 4 color cameras.
They can not take a reverse polarity joke.
Bought some IR arrays on da bay for a song to replace them.
They even have the CdS sensor to keep them off in daylight.
I can mount them on the cage about 18" in front of the cameras .
I like that mo' betta than ring around da lens anyway.
Makes it taste kinda tart, like grapes.:D

Details in my ICM album.
I'll post them here when the server is behaving and I'm able.

Your rook will be looking at my queen when your knight moves; thatsa concern...

Ye positional diagram is "before my last move" which put my bishop at K3.

If that changes your view on things we can back up a ways. Otherwise, it's a trade, my queen's vulnerable to your rook ATM.

Puny firearms are inconsequential compared to the wrath wreakable by a well-connected bishop.

lol..."wrath, wreakable" sounds like an itemized deduction.

#795 is where I got turned around. I had your bishops at Q2 and Q3
So starting at the move after your diagram, mmmmmm.

I am still hosed!:(

That, was a very good move!

So at the least, black will lose a rook in the slaughter to come. But, more important, white has a positional advantage that will hammer black to a into a humiliating route to a bitter end.

I see no "brilliant" response and will gracefully resign.

Your game!

Crissakes, I spent a frickin' week jockeying those little bugger bishops around one square at a time...took me two days to figure out the last move, and that was with W.'s help...

I do like to take some time and study some simple openings as I go, though. Decide what approach seems interesting. Midgame can go too many kinda whichway to study, for me. I just watch the force lines change as the pieces move.

So I'll BRB with a responding move.

Sorry. Just mistyped. Queen's Rook. P-QR4. Betcha I was lookin' at your bishop, into whose path I am moving.

Been multi-tasking. :D

Assembled a lamp from a kit for the wife. Chinese insructions, partially translated real old-school style. Really out there. Weird little hand-drawings to illustrate, too.

Also put together a couple more coco-bubbaponics units with a "Yummy" (small orange sweet pepper) in one and a poblano in the other. Used a "6"" netpot (which is really about 5.5"--just too small for a 1 gal nursery pot to drop into ) on one, and an 8" netpot on the other. You can get a wire tomato trellis into the 8, so Ima do dat. Not sure how big the plants'll get in the buckets. The Yummys were only about hip-high when I grew 'em in 5 gal soil pots.

I mixed 'em up, though, and I can't remember which is which :D (they're small).

Say, what do you think would happen if a freshly harvested indoor cola got to lie in state for a few hours outside in the sun? It'd still kinda be alive for awhile-- you know, like a guillotine-severed head(?)

Well, stuff you put in albums is under your control. You can make it go away without mods' intervention. Also, you can limit access. Seems the way to go for things you might consider "sensitive," now, or at a later date.

As for the miscreant who harrassed Killa, dat's just some mook who brought an argument from another board over here. Happens alla time. He just went off on MP 'cos he was handy, hopin' he was Killa's best friend, prolly.

You do well to guard my KN8.
That pawn is almost a queen and can force unsavory choices upon you.
I may never promote it, but the threat can not be ignored.

If it's a queen-sacrifice mate, I don't see it.
Black king still keeps his bishop close at hand.

While the white rook can pin da bishop to da king for a move or so.
It's a net loss to tie up a strong piece to immobilize a lesser piece.

Q = 9

I agree with you. I saw some ratings that put a bishop above a knight. I'm sure it's situation-dependent, too.

CRAP!

I've been playing with the board upside down so white's facing me-standard notation kine way.

I was thinking my pawn captures goin' the other way (moving away from me).

So I cannot snag your rook.

So, B - KR6

How ya holding up?
Early day, ya?

Hey, I did my UV exposure experiment yesterday. Took some trich shots immediately after 4 hours exposure to intermittently sunny / overcast conditions. Not a lotta difference.

Buds in the oasis Cube remained fresh and perky. Think I fooled 'em into thinking this was in vivo.

Did you notice how long afterward the effects continued to develop? My sunburns are always worse hours later...

I'm outta batteries for the Eyeclops, but I'm thinking "tanning" prolly continued for awhile after I brought 'em in.

Dunno.
I put them out in full sun and looked with the loupe when I cut, but did not take snaps for 2 - 4 days after.

Sounds logical, but you can always hit 'em with a few more hours if you didn't get enough UV to do the job the first time.
Beginning to wonder how strong a UVb source will have to be to work indoors.

I'm still not convinced the effect is anything more than cosmetic. May even be causing degradation.

Trich been bad. Need discipline, Mistress

Good. Didn't feel like running out for batteries at this hour. I think this'll be a one-time exposure, as I've got the test buds drying already.

Did this under the 8+2, mostly with each blue at ~950 mA and each red at ~1.3A. (No UV, this is an indoor control bud.) It is positively stupefying.

Managed to handle that without creating isolated pawns.

I've previously underestimated the power of a pawn chain. I found myself unable to assault your chains, even with my pieces, on a couple of occasions. Kinda humbling. :o
