- They were getting rootrot...

- They were getting mold on at least one or two of them...

- They were really just experimental plants and not meant to be fully flowered...

- They told us what we wanted to know about rapid forceflowering after rooting clones and the effectiveness of CFLs in flowering...

- They were taking up precious space...

- We want some friggin bud! ;)

Excellent reasons; all but the last of course!!! :D That doesn't count!

The rest are not ready yet. They will stay to simmer a little more. The 2 on the left are actually 8-11 days behind the other 3 big ones. They will have to be harvested in sequence. The small ones on the left are actually on the same DAY as the main flowering room.

Now to many peoples?? favorite part??THE WEIGH IN.?

For documentation purposes only, here are the weights of the plants directly after harvesting.

9a = 26.2g
2a = 24.8g
6a = 28.6g
1a = 30.8g

Total of 4 = 110.4g

And into the dryer they go for one week.

Hope you all enjoyed the early harvest pics. These are the only plants that were semi-ready to harvest at the time. They were also pulled due to other various reasons that I mentioned a few posts up. The rest will be left in there for a week more or so depending on each plant??s individual ripeness.

Now there is still the business of checking the rest of the room! :D

We still have to take a look at the veg room and main flowering room on this day's update.

I don't have time to do it right now, but I'll try to come back and do it today if I can. Then we'll be ready to move onto the next day's update! :D :D

Hit me up.

Be cool.

Man fog, I love this grow. I've been sporadically checking back in on this over the course, you and your rubbermaids rule. Let us know the dry weights on all those too, I'm just curious how much exactly is water weight. Like usually how many times lighter is it after drying? Like 1/4th or 1/5th? Great job man, keep up the pics. Be sure to stop my my thread over the next few weeks, 3 weeks into flowering, so only 5-? more to go.

Well, they're not gonna dry with you DROOLING all over them! hehe. Thanks for the compliments. Glad you are tuning in. I should have an Arbitron rating...lol. j/k Look out for a bunch of brand new episodes over the next couple days. More harvesting pics for sure!

~splifted~

Also, thanks for tuning in. I'm glad someone's watching. I feel like no one is even 'viewing' this thread at all. Gosh! [/sarcasm] lol ;)

Well, I like the rubbermaid box too. It's my favorite...so far. It's done much better than I expected. BUT, alas...when it is finished, I have a feeling that it will be going the way of the dodo...maybe to be replaced by something even BETTER! (gasp!)

As far as weights go, I will have all the numbers for you so we can compare wet & dry weights once and for all! Gosh what would we all do if we didn't have such a detailed Journal? :p

I've been checkin' in at your thread too...but it's off the radar now. When you post some updates next, I'll come by, catch up, and send you a line. :D Looking forward to those updates!

~Stinky~

I thought you'd like that. :D

To all those keeping up with the JOURNAL, stay tuned for the rest of the harvest pics from the BodomBox and we're coming real close to the MAIN flowering room's harvest time too! More LSTing, cloning, and all that jazz...after these messages. :D:D:D

More pics of the main flowering room.

Oh I thought of something. Take note of picture # 5. The plant in front is 13a.

This plant was snapped in half a couple weeks into flowering. It was COMPLETELY SNAPPED IN HALF? and then re-positioned and taped up with electrical tape. It??s growth was stunted severely and it is lagging behind the others. This was also the plant with which we were having leaf problem earlier on. This plant has taken some severe punishment?

BUT it has started to grow again. It is growing new leaves and the buds are finally fattening up above the break.

This plant is also a possible sativa. Look at the leaves?Look at the height. Since this is bagseed, there is no real way to tell which is indica or sativa?or even hybrids of both?but we are thinking that there are possibly a couple indicas in there and a couple or at least one sativa. This will affect harvesting schedules. :(

Note: The buds were a little drier than hoped for, but maybe we'll do 5 or 6 days drying instead of 7. That dry box kicks arse. :D

I gotta take a break for a few, but I'm gonna try to go back and get the wet weights and post them next to the dry weights with and without stems to clearly show the weight drop. I think it was about 1/4 to 1/5 or original wet weight.

Hello, again! Whoa...I got some catching up to do...:D:D:D

~Cornelius~ Yea, half oz! That will put us around an 1 ?? 1.5 oz at the end of the Rubbermaid box grow. I wonder what will come off of those trees, eh? I??d say a couple of weeks left still on the tall girls. We wanna get then looking nice and fat. :D

~santacruz_organic~ Yes, what Splifted said, it is a single crystally calyx. See how the pistils have shriveled and died, but the calyx is fattened. ??False pregnancy?? syndrome. Gotta love those trick ?? o - gnomes, eh? ;)

~stinkyattic~ Thanks, girl. You know me?meticulous. We try to keep the space as clean as possible. Makes for good photo shoots, too. :D

~passthatshit~ Thanks, man. :pimp: GFog in the hizzouse?what?

~invision~ Hey, man thanks, too. I hear ya about the clone thing. It??s so easy to clone but not enough space! Kinda sucks, eh? Still sour about those two big mamas that were ditched. :(

So you fixed your temps just with a glass shield and no fan? I??m curious to see that. Where??s your new grow log? That 465cfm will be nice.

~ridethefire~ Yea, man. It goes fast. You gotta pay attention or you??ll miss a lot. Haha. No, but really, it??s mainly because I post so many damn pics.

I??m sure some people don??t even read the posts and just skim through looking at the pics. Sh8t, I gotta go do that myself sometime soon! It??s nice to see them grow up. Whoa, the space they take up, though. Amazing.

Yea, the harvest pics are nice. No big monster colas on those little Rubbermaid babies, but they were experimental anyway, so an ounce off the whole lot should be worth it. I think I can dig up a smoke report somewhere. :D

I??ve been eye-ing your thread too. Lookin?? good. :greenthumb:

Stick around.

~kindprincess~

Hey! Why so glum? Well, I actually saw you posted about your plants?:( That??s a bummer. How did it happen? I??m typing this right after I saw your post about your veg plants dying, so you might explain it by the time I get to post this. Maybe I??ll edit the post. That really does suck about the plants though.

I am very CONGRATULATORY, however, that we are finally honored with some pictures. It feels like forever?and I thought they would never come, yet they have. That sage clone looks weird? Looking forward to sage monster part II

Just saw what happened. Sucks about your light. And your plants?and your dog. My condolences go to you and I hope you get back on track asap. I also saw the Sticky you got up in Basic Growing. Good stuff! Two ?

Well, as far as I??m concerned:

I??m :( because I don??t get to post as much anymore. I still keep up with the threads and all, I just don??t get to reply, and I wanna say something, but then it??s too late by the time I log on! Ha. Anyway?I??ll try to get some updates up soon.

Hey, ridethefire. I'm glad you got a chance to read through the whole thing. It's hard for me to reply to someone's thread if I haven't read through all the way. Plus, it's always good reading, and never hurts to learn from the mistakes/experiences of others!

Well, so I'm kind of dissapointed because I had planned on updating the thread since I've posted those last harvest pics, but I haven't had the time...and now that I have a 'bit' of time, I don't have the frigging pictures with me. I'm getting so behind. When I DO finally update, I'm sure there will be like 2-3 new pages in the JOURNAL! Good Sh*t, tho.

What do you mean 'the news?' ;) haha. Yea, ridethefire got a little sneek-peek preview when we were in chat the other day. He's got premature knowledge of the coming updates! Glad he's keepin' his lips tight (lol at myself...). Sorry.

So, anyway, The updates will be coming as soon as I can get them to ya'll. Unfortunately, it may not be until the end of this coming weekend or next week. :(

In the meantime, if anyone has any questions or feedback about anything you've seen in the grow so far, anything you wanna talk about, hit me up! I'm always game for some discussion. Plus, since I haven't gone back and re-read the whole thing in a while, I'd love to know what some of you think of some of the earlier pictures maybe. :D

Another note, the boards have seemed awfully slow recently, including my own absence. Is this largely due to the holiday season, so everyone is busy with their families? I hope that's the case. If I don't get to say it later, I hope everyone has an awesome holiday season.

Anyway, just thought I'd bring you all up to date, and maybe squeeze some chat out of you guys!

Okay, guys and ladies?glad that everyone is hanging around. I wish I could be here more too, but hey, time waits for no man?or something.

OK, lets get this show on the road, people. I appreciate all of your comments and hope you are here for the madness that is about to ensue. Lol :blueknife:

We??ll just start where we left off on the last page. We had harvested 4 of the 13 plants in the Rubbermaid box and they have dried for 7 days in the dry box.

ATTENTION: We have smokeable cannabis? :yippee:

We have removed the stems and thrown the weed into jars to cure.

Sinsemilla?no seeds. Decently compact. Meh?for a side experiment. 15.9g so far.

And that brings us to now?

Here is what we have left today on DAY 56 (8 weeks exactly) of flowering the Rubbermaid box. We have removed 4 plants and dried them to cure. Now we shall look at claiming more victims.

1 ?? The lot minus 4.
2 ?? Closeup.
3 ?? Meh?
4 ?? Dunno wtf happened to this poor sucker. Will most likely chop her in the morning?it is DAY 48 for her, as she is one of the 3 that are lagging behind.
5 ?? Another shot of the lot. Sure will miss ??em. :(

HARVEST time, she comes?

Plant # 13a

Here is the very reason I am chopping down some of these early. MOLD.

Look at the top bud. I thought it was spidermites at first, but now I??m fairly certain it is that white mold that ??they?? talk about.

I almost considered lighting a matchbook in the box as a poorman??s ??sulfur burner??, but got talked out of it?and then just forgot. :stoned:

So now she??s coming down. Not sure if we should smoke the moldy bud or not. Oh, and the mold is only on the one, by the way.

It??s still DAY 133. We??ve harvested what we could, and now it??s time to tinker with some toys.

TODAY, WE HAVE A SURPRISE!

Out goes the ??BodomBox???in comes the CAB OF LIFE to accompany the CLOSET OF LIFE.

The BodomBox worked great. Very easy to manage. But what an eyesore! We did make some mistakes [i.e. not filtering intakes?not transplanting to full hydroton (we left in the plastic wrappers of the 4 x 4 ??rubix cube??) ;)?not protecting against algae on top of the rock wool?not vegging long enough, ete.] but overall it was a successful grow. The full final weight pulled will be posted in graph/table form?I hope. ;)

So?now, onto the Rasta Flowering Cab aka the Cab of Life. I am thinking of starting another thread for this cab, maybe in the cabinet/closet section, but I??m not sure if I want to keep up with 2 threads, with as many pics as I have. Whew? What do you guys think about me making a separate thread for this one cab? Granted, if I do that, I will NOT post the pics in here too?they will be separate.

Well, for now, they are going here because there is transplanting to do.

And, down with the curtain, here comes the show!

DAY 133/56/48/1 (more #'s that mean more to me than to you)

We put the three Y??s (11d, 11e, 6d) from the left side veg area of the Closet into the Rasta Cab of Flowers today

Add some hydroton clay pebbles (always cleaned thoroughly before use!) and some rockwool light-blockers (black underside & white topside) to prevent mold.

The planters (plastic totes) are temporary. The goal with this is to go to an automated ebb & flow system like the main flowering room.

DAY ONE (FLOWER)

There should only be 4 in there, but there are five and the one in the middle was smaller than the others, so she is getting all her light blocked from above. Maybe she??ll catchup.

DAY 1 (germinate) for the NL & BS

Wow, that was a lot of work to do on DAY 133. Have you ever built one of those cabinets? Can we say ??time consuming???

Well, we have at least accomplished getting more room in the veg area, plus now we have a new flower area. When the BodomBox (Rubbermaid Box) is finished with all of it??s flowering, we will most likely retire the eyesore.

Wow, now it??s time for me to smoke some herbage.

Kickin' Ass!!!

I like how you grow in Rockwell and rocks. So neat and tidy. My gf would love the no dirt part.

Do you just let the roots grow into the rocks? What about water pooling in the bottom below the rocks? It looks like a good way of growing.

Looking awsome.

kd

TheGreenFog
12-20-2006, 02:17 PM
Hey, KD. What's crack-a-lackin'? :smokin:

Well, yea the rockwool & hydroton definitely makes for a laboratory-type environment. I like it clean. You should try it someday. If it were soil, I'm sure it would all be swept up and kept clean also. :)

*sparks spliff*

So here's how it works. Obviously you use the rockwool as a medium to grow in until the roots start popping out of the rockwool. Then, yes, you just remove the white plastic around the rockwool and set the block into a bed or a pot of hydroton rocks. The roots grow into and around the rocks.

Different systems have been used here in the JOURNAL with regard to the watering and the rocks. In the veg, there are some POTS with the same set up and those are hand-watered. The other plants in there are also being hand watered. Any runoff runs into a drainage system setup. Check out the earlier pics, I'm sure they will show it. If not, future pics will. :)

In the main flowering room, the 5 plants are all sunken into a bed of hydroton and it is set up with an Ebb & Flow system. For those of you who are unfamiliar with that term, that just means that there is a special set of drains that allow water to be pumped in to fill up the planter up to a certain point where it reaches an overflow drain. Then when the pump stops running, all of the water runs back into the resevoir. This is run 2 times daily for approximately 15 minutes, or however it takes for the resevoir to fill up and give the plants some time to drink up. It also soaks the rockwool cubes they are in, so they don't go completely dry.

Hmmm...what else. That's about it.

Updates? DAY 136? I think.......yes.

Now that we have some room, we can move around a little bit.

These three plants are destined to be the next in line for the main flowering room. We will LST them, and get them as bushy as we can, then try to do three plants instead of 5

Rockwool. RINSE it before you use it.

My method:

Rinse in tap water to get out most of the rock fibers, then squeeze out and run through with R/O water or distilled to get it really good and flushed.

Oh, and one more thing, whenever I move the clones from rooted stage into the 4? cubes, I spray a diluted solution of pH??d water, seeweed extract, and very little bit of SuperThive (just started the ST). Spray a little into the hole, and a little on top.

I'm sorry if this comes out rude, but your post makes me believe you are a little too young to be growing. If you can't take the time to read around a little, how are you going to have the time to care for plants everyday?

I mean, I know my thread is a bit large, but most of it is made up of pictures...and some good info. IMO, it's worth reading, and should only take you a joint or three.

There are also tons of threads concerning odor elimination if you just do a search.

Like I said, I don't want to come off as a prick, but your post seemed a little rude the way you worded it. Maybe next time, just ask the question, and leave out the part where you don't have 'time' to read my thread. ;)

In short, my closet smells. There is no real odor elimination going on. There were plans to implement a carbon scrubber, but as of this last update, there has been no real odor prevention installed. I would obviously recommend a carbon scrubber hooked up to an extraction fan, but I have no idea what kind of set up you have, so it would be impossible for me to tell you what I would do anyway...read up, grasshopper. Read up.

Be cool.

Happy Holidays. Welcome back to TheGreenFogTV!

Well, I got a little time, so I thought I'd throw another update on here. Here ya go...

DAY 140/63/55/8

Ok. We??re getting close now. Here we are on DAY 140 since inception. We have a few more flowering clones still hanging on from the ??BodomBox??, and our main flowering room is at 8 weeks today. The new Cab of Life has been flowering now for 8 days.

First pics! Dry Box. We had to look at this first today. Sweet sinsemilla cannabis, baby. For anyone who missed it, these plants were not even supposed to be finished out. We were just sexing our big plants, and we decided to let them go. ... ... Gravy?. Yea! :D

Moving on to the veg area?

Up top, these little girls are ??vegging?? under some not-very-powerful lighting, but they are doing ok. This is temporary as we figure things out. Logistics really come into play here. Using a borrowed computer, so hope the pics upload correctly...grumble...

Mother plant check in?

Still there. Looking a bit droopy. Looking sort of stunted?actually kind of what we need right now. We need her to just chill out as we get other things situated, but we don??t want her to die. We are feeding her 50% veg solution.

Her leaves are small?I believe it??s from all the ??choppy, choppy???

She??s been topped at least 4 to 5 times, hence the 16 tops?at least. ;)

NEXT?

Check on the curing jars. W00t?is right.

They smell a bit like nutes, we believe, so we??re gonna let them air out nice and good, but not too fast.

Haha, Invision...not quite...but would be nice. LOL

Maybe there is enough there for a couple chronic tokers, though. ;)

LST Time?

Ok, these plants are the biggest of the bunch, and therefore, they will be going into the main flowering room. They are nice looking, after having been topped and LST??d a bit. Now, it is time to really spread their legs?errr?wings?errr..branches! We will do this to allow even more shoots to pop up and join the group.

This particular one here, is decendent of our ever-more popular number 11, called 11a1. In fact it is 3rd generation #11, to be exact. A top of a top of a plant. ;)

I??m kinda rough, eh? :p

Number 6c. I??m not so sure how much I like number six. We??ve always had some type of problem with her, mainly nute burn problems. Nothing spectacular from the Rubbermaid results, so I??d have to say this is going to be her last stand. One more flower for good times, and adieu to her lineage.

OH, and apparently she has not had a pot, so she needs a new home. We will put her in a slightly bigger home with some rocks. Ewwww look at that mold, man? Can you say, ??mold-covers?!?

Ah don't worry about people being quiet, it's just because of the holidays! I haven't read through all 26 pages, but I went through the first 10-12 and skimmed the rest. You've got a nice setup going on there, it makes mine look so amateur, but it is so that's alright. That flowering room is packed and the buds look terrific, congrats! 11b is looking quite chronic.

I've always read that it is best avoided taking clones during flowering, which, I know you are aware of. I would always try to follow this, BUT one of the plants in 'my' main room, which also corresponds to one of the plants in the rubbermaid growbox, looks like some really dank stuff and 'I' don't have any remnants of it's kind after these 2 are harvested...

fog you said this in another thread........so i take it you have 2 plants that no longer have clones of them, do you know you can can revert to veg after flower believe it or not?

dont chop her stem, just under the buds and leave some foliage on the plant, then set to 24hrs,give her lots of high N, after 2-3 weeks she will start to grow shoots all over again.

this method is also known as 2nd generation plants.

Got JARS?! I don??t know if we??ll end up with the right number of jars to coincide with the plants we started with, but whatever?there it is?cannabis.

Jar it up?cure it?smoke it. Nice.

I don??t know exactly how much is in all of those jars combined?

There are still 2 more plants to go, each giving about 5g or so?

10 or so plants times 5g?I??d say ballpark close to 2 ounces. Not quite, but close.

Not too shabby for the sexing box, eh? :D

Some other notes I have:

NL & BG update.

They are now?errr?9 days from germination. They popped in 2-3 days, I believe, shot straight up in 4 more days, then for the last 2 days, they have had some light.

I still do not like how long their stalks are starting. Normally, I??d tell a soil grower that they should probably bury that plant into some more dirt up close to those first leaves, but this is not dirt, therefore, we must figure out a better way?

ROCKWOOL: Burying your stretched seedling stem.

This is just an idea that ??sprouted?? from the necessity to reduce the stretching in the seedling. Last run, the original plants (those from seed) stretched so much in their early life, that they became unmanageable. We swore this would not happen here, but it has already begun to plague us.

Our remedy?emergency rockwool surgery?get your notebook out.

Normally, we would go from 1.5? x 1.5? cubes to 4? x 4? cubes. The way we do this, is to simply set the smaller cube into the larger cube, as the larger cube has the top bored out of it.

We will adjust the placement of the HOLE. Cut the hole out. Wet everything as normal. Slice a slit into the core?like a hotdog bun. Clip core onto stem on top of original rockwool cube?like?umm?a fishing weight??

The pictures explain the rest. Any questions, just ask. :D

Did someone say FAQ??

Main Flowering Room Week 9 DISASTER!

DAY 142/65/57/10

This is DAY 57 of the flowering in the main flowering room.

We have a DISASTER on our hands!

Hermie noticed (#13). We have a seed already! Sh*t! Bananas all over. Trichomes still bright white. This we think is a sativa?but hermie!?!? Son of a bitch. :(

WE had planned to let it go at least another week or TWO. But now??

Others in the main flowering room look alright. I think #9 is ready. At least the top of it. Not bottom. Others are close.

This one that has the bananas, it is the one that had severe nute deficiencies early on (stress)?oh and then I snapped the bitch in half (umm?stress) and then taped her back together. I believe?the hermie culprit was?uh?STRESS. Damn.

What??s worse, there is already a seed?only one that we see right now?but how did we not notice this before?

I am hoping that it is too late into flowering to affect or to allow for seed development. :praying:

I hope I'm not wasting any valuable space =D, but this is the best thread I've ever seen ever in my life, very interesting and awesome personal setup. Mad props man, you're a true inspiration.

I'm only on page 15, but I'll be back after work. Oh and EXCELLENT PICTURES, what kind of camera is that :D? Oh and how many watts do you think everything you're using uses a day lol? :rasta: :rasta: :rasta:

Hey, guys & gals. I??m finally back. Woohoo! :D:D

I hope everyone had a nice holiday. I sure did. :D I will have to share some of the stories sometime when I get a chance after all the updating.

Speaking of that, I will be trying to get that big harvest update posted within the next couple of days. I had planned to work on it during the break, but you know how it is?

First, some responses to messages left for me whilst I was away:

~floyd2zapper~

Thank you, I try to keep the JOURNAL as comprehensive as possible, both for documentation purposes and everyone??s amusement. Remember, this is for entertainment purposes only. :)

~KP~

Much love to you too! :D The thread??s gettin?? to be a monster, eh? It??s a shame, too cuz then people don??t wanna read through the whole thing. :(

~canuckgrower~

Hey, man. I stopped by your thread, you seem to be doing very well. Keeping the updates nice and clear?and thorough. Nice.

As far as the harvest goes, yes I can??t wait to see those buds cut down?again?too! :D I am trying my best to get them up today or tomorrow. There are about 170 pictures of DAY 146!

Regarding the hermie pics, yes, if you go to post #673 (on page 27) and look at picture #3, you will see the male ??banana?? flowers to the left of the seed. They look like a bunch of bananas, even more so if you spread them apart. These apparently grow on hermaphrodite plants. They are different from the male pollen sacks that grow on male plants and look like little footballs on sticks. Either way, they spread pollen?and that sucks. BEWARE OF BANANAS. Keep your eyes out throughout the flowering stage for signs of these. Obviously, someone??s eyes were not peeled and that part was neglected. :(

Grassy-ass for the support, man. :D:D

~ridethefire~

Thanks for the words, man. I??m glad my presence at least means something to someone. :p Thanks for bumping my thread. :D

~w33dman27~

w00t! Love harvest pics, man. I dunno why more people don??t post them. They are one of my favorite parts of a grow, jeez. You get to look at what you??re gonna smoke!

One question, though?I am colorblind, so help me out?where do you see Purple?

Yea, I should??ve posted a pic using that bud as a pseudo-phallus like I??ve seen in some other pics. ;) hehe

~Abunai~

Thanks, man! You are definitely NOT wasting valuable space. Thanks for the props, bud. I hope you stick around to see the rest of the JOURNAL! Still got LOTS more left! :yippee:

~Bluecat~

Thanks for the vibes. I appreciate it. I??m really trying. I??ll update you guys when I have been smoke (cigs) free for a month or two. That is the first difficult hurdle. Cigarettes suck!

~bud breath420~

Hey, man. Glad you are sticking around. I think you were one of the first people to post a reply in this thread. You are one of the ones that have really had the chance to see the whole grow process. Hope you enjoy the harvest pics. Wish I could break you off a nug. Catch ya in chat sometime. I still don??t like your sig. ;) hehe

Well, guys, that was my welcome back post?quite long, I know. Now, let??s see if I can get some updates going?it??ll take me quite a while, I??m sure, so don??t hesitate to check back in from time to time.

Take care, peeps.

Fog, welcome back! :D Glad you had a nice vacation.

170 pics from one day, holy fuck Batman! That's awesome. Holiday's over man you better get crackin' with those pics! ;)

Those things do look just like bananas, I went back and had a look after KP explained it. Lucy's stretchy so I have to keep an eye out for bananas in case she's not just stretching for light.

Anyway take some time to settle back in and don't hurry too much to update this thread. I really should go back and read the last 10 pages properly instead of just skimming and looking at photos. Maybe today.

Hey, canuck, yea...I just looked, it's actually like 183 pics. Dunno if I'll post all of them, but it sure will be close to that number because there are not very many 'bad' pics...and every pic shows something new...I like to let everyone see EVERYTHING so you feel as much as a part of the grow as I do. :)

Hey, Kb420Kb, looking forward to your log. I'll keep up with it. Make sure you post lots and lots of pics! :D Good luck with that one plant. I would be terrified to only grow one plant. If if is male, you have learned how to grow...kind of...then you have to start over. If it dies, you have no back up. Plus, the main reason, is that with only one plant, I believe people tend to over-care for the plant and kill it with kindness.

I'm not saying in that any of this will happen to you, I'm just giving you my take on it and maybe giving you some things to think about when growing your one plant. Good luck, again! :D

DAY 146/69/61/14

Well, here goes some updates, guys. I??m going to start with the ??rounds?? first, then we??ll get into the harvest.

Veg room

Plants doing ok. LST is doing good.

There are 10 plants downstairs. Three large ones being LSTd and 7 others that are smaller and vegging. These 7 are from the 3rd round of clones.

Mother Box (former Rubbermaid bloombox)

She??s still alive. Sitting in there chilling. Getting a big cramped in there for her. Not quite the size of a bonsai, but we??ll work on that. Part of the experiment is just to see how long we can keep a mother alive. I don??t know the exact date she was cut from the original #11, but it wasn??t too long away from DAY 1. I??ll figure it out soon and let you guys know how old she is.

Cab of Life

Ok, well, we have our three subjects in here, they have been LST??d and flowered back on day 133, I believe. That would make them about 14 days old {in flower} as of today.

They are definitely showing sex and starting to bud. You can see the white ??hairs?? (pistils) in the pics. There is also a number 11 still left over from the BodomBox in here. We have attempted to follow the trichome color on this one to harvest it. It is taking forever?:( This also worries us because that means our Mother plant will also take that long?and the two plants in this COL on the right side are also number elevens?sigh.

Maybe we can speed things up by breathing on them more often?;)

Taking a quick smoke break from updating?not cigarettes?but oooh that would be nice?Ahhh no, I mean NO. :(

Now that we have made our rounds, it??s time to go to the main flowering room. We are chopping today. Go back to page 28 to see the updates I just posted. ;)

As a small recap, they have gone 61 days in flower as of today. One of them was snapped (and then taped back upright) a while back, and we believe that this contributed to this particular plant becoming a hermie. It grew bananas (male hermie flowers) and pollinated the whole crop. We will chop them now in hopes that we do not allow the seeds to mature within the other plants. We might be too late because we??ve already seen at least one seed inside the bud of the shameful plant.

I will start off with some final pictures of the main room and then move on to the harvesting pics. I will bring you through every step, with lots of pics, of course. It might take me a minute to get it all gathered together, but it will hopefully be up by tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

Be back in a while with more good stuff. ;)

Ok, guys, here you go. Harvest Pics?get your googlies out. :smokin:

DAY 61 of flower in the main flowering room

We have 5 plants in there total (#13, #9, #1, #2, #4)

You can barely see number 1 way down in the middle there?but she??s there. Getting no light?completely overshadowed by the others. Note?five large plants is too many.

Our first thought was to chop the top colas and leave the bottom buds for a week or two more to fatten up?but?

We have decided to chop the plants today due to the fact that they have been pollinated (by hermie number 13) recently and we would like to prevent any developing seeds from having a chance to mature. Plus?it would be a pain to chop just tops, etc. Cutting main stalks this time.

Let??s first take a good last look around the closet before it goes empty?(sniffle)

Ok. Now we??re gonna do #9. She is in the back. She seems to have caught a LOT of pollen. Seeds everywhere. Friggin?? gross. Eww. All of the seeds I see are white and do not look mature. Looks like they matured just enough to be a nuisance.

Not sure why I cut this one branch off the plant before it was cut down, but it shows the seeds clearly. The buds with the seeds?well, they just don??t really look like developed buds. The seeds ruined the buds. :(

#9
Pic # 1& 2 - I just like these two pics, especially the second one. Chomp #9.

Pic #3 - Then, we have plant #2. It was only topped once, obviously. Nice big tuning fork this one was in the right near corner?it seems to have been somewhat protected from the flying pollen. The buds seem much fatter and you can??t really see many seeds on the outside.

Pic #4 ?? just a picture of the joint where the two tops came out. Those joints amaze me?they are like an arthritic knuckle.

The Fog :rastasmoke:

#4

Pic #1-4 ?? Plant #4. This one was in the far rear corner and looks like it was the most protected from the pollen. It??s buds seem the most dense of all and it is most definitely the one with the most trichomes. It is sticky on the fingers already?and that??s just the stem.

Pic #5 ?? The only one left is number 1. It looks so crappy. This one was stuck in the middle of the other four. It was getting very little light and looks as such. It??s buds are very small, yet have a decent number of trichomes. We have decided to let this one go a little longer, mostly due to the fact that I don??t really have the room to chop it?

Darn, it??s getting to look quite empty up in there. Sad, yet happy all at the same time!

Hey fog, I packed a big bowl :bong: for this update. HUGE! :D

That is one nice cornucopia of bud! Really nice photos too, I felt like I was there, and wish I was :). Whether or not High Times publishes them they got me hard. Ha ha, not really but pretty close. #4 is a sexy bitch.

Reading your log was fun, and you worked a lot to post it all it's a waste to pass up the opportunity. Now that I know a little more about the process it was very engaging. I too snapped a plant's stem albeit not one as big as that. We knew we could only keep a few though so regardless of what sex it may have been we tossed it. Not in a salad. ;) RIP

I don't like bananas anyway, except in milkshakes and shit. I found one on Lucy. Fucking bananas! :( Where that stem healed it looks a lot of a human scab eh? It was nice to see #13 hang, that hermaphrodite whore.

That's really too bad about the seeds. Looks like some of #9 is basically unsmokeable. You should burn a white seed to see if they pop. Someone here probably already knows.

So that's around 1185g wet right? You ain't doin' too bad if you get 20% of that dry man! That's around a 1/2 lb if my stoned math is right. I said, nice one bruv! Fuckin' nice one! BRUUVVAAAAAAAA!!! :D

Seriously, congrats on a great first harvest! I'm impressed. :)

I will venture to ask one question, why didn't you guys pick off the bananas? Be careful with any clones from that plant because hermyism, new word,, can be genetic and past down threw the offspring. I know you said you think it is from the snapping, but just keep a heads up on it, but I am sure if I go back and catch up on the earlier episodes I will find out that the girl was JR Yuing's daughter by Bobby Yuings wife and she was stressed out when she didn't get to be invited to JR's funeral so she jumped out of a 2 story window and broke her arm, and so on, Dallas if you didn't know.

Didn't pick off the nanners cuz it was too late...and too many of them. No worry about clones...there were none from that plant. Unfortunately, there were none from the best plant, #4 either...but maybe there will some viable seed. x :p

I doubt the hermie trait is genetic, because there was a test clone of this plant flowered in the CFL box and it was fine. Just don't go snapping little girls arms and stuff and you should be fine. ;) It was more like snapping her at the waist, though. Not the arm. :(

ridethefire, Thank you. I am consoled. :stoned:

brookerosebud, Hey! It's been a while. :) How's life on your side? The mad green fog? Hmmm. Well...here's a pic of me on vacation (see below)

DonSmokin, I took a quick peek. From first glance, it looks like a N deficiency to me. What are you feeding? What is your soil? Start a log and link me so you can give more info. Thanks. Good luck with your donations. :p

Well, peeps. I'm still not sure whether I'm going to start a new log or not. I've already started one for the Cab of Life and I'm considering starting one for the NL & BG...but then there will also be the main flowering room that will be in action...plus exciting developments (topping, LST, training) in the veg/clone/mother rooms! Ohhhh what to do?

I'm sure that if I continue on with this thread, many people will be so intimidated by it's size (like Bear-dog, hehe) and not look at all! I mean...it's not even a lot of reading...it's a friggin' weed comic book...pictures and all! :)

Hey Fog, just thought I would drop by and say Hi, as I haven't posted on this thread yet...a little late, I know! Your harvest pics are pretty sweet, they're making me anxious for my own harvest. Also, the pic you posted quite a while back of a purple bud looked amazing! I can't stop looking at that pic!

My advice about whether or not to start a new thread, would be yes, start another. Admittedly, this is the first time I checked out your thread...the length of it is certainly deterring, not cause im lazy, but cause i have noticed that a lot of long threads often end up totally of topic and pointless...like they will evolve into something else. Anyways, I have skimmed a few pages of your log and will probably read the rest someday. I am looking forward to following your next endeavour from the start! Talk to you later.

Hey, dutchy.

I keep looking for the pic of the purple bud that everyone keeps talking about. I'm colorblind so I would have a hard time spotting it if it was subtle, but I don't remember ever seeing it before...maybe it was just the lighting? Anyway, thanks for the compliments. I love those harvest pics myself. :)

As far as starting a new thread, I'm sure I will start some spin-off threads like the Harvest thread, the NL & BG that are coming up, and like the one I already have in the Grow Log sub-forum, but I'm pretty sure I will be continuing to update this thread the most.

It is long, but click on just about any page and you will find anywhere between 50-100 pictures, plus I've done my best to make the text as reader-friendly as possible. I really don't see that it is very difficult to read...seeing as we ARE on a forum. ;) Many people have told me that they have sat down and taken a couple joints to read it and they are happy they did. Then all you have to do is just keep checking back as I update every week, if not more.

Also, I cover every aspect of the grow and discuss almost every subject imaginable. Someone pointed out to me one day in chat, that if you do a search for almost ANY subject or keyword, you will find JOURNAL OF A MADMAN on the first page of search results. ;) That's pretty cool, I guess.

I guess I'd say, if it wasn't MY thread...I'd read it anyway. :p

I'm working on some new updates as we speak and I've already got them fired up and ready to go...so look for them coming up soon.

Thanks for tuning in to TheGreenFog TV! :D :D

The only one I can think of that looks purple is the one of the FAT calyx you posted in the calyx thread. In #717 here the last 2 pics look sort of purplish but when you see them full size it looks like the light playing tricks.

I know I'm still slacking on updates. I have pics and things just haven't found the time to post in the evening recently. I'll get to it I promise! :)

Did you lose your tricks waaay up your sleeve or something? ;) This much time without any new pics or info is almost eerie in the Madman's Journal. :D

Hey, guys & gals. Sorry I've been neglecting the thread for so long. I've been very busy and then just plain lazy when it comes to typing up the updates.

HOWEVER, there will be some coming...and when they do...they will be plentiful and massive (like the buds we love). ;)

Canuck, thanks for keeping me honest. I've seriously gotta get those updates going. It's been over 20 days since last time I posted a pic on here. This is probably gonna be the ONLY page in my thread WITHOUT any pics...eerie, eh?

I'm glad you've been taking my place while I've been 'gone.' I've been keping my eye on your thread & I'll be visiting today sometime to leave you some love, but seems like you're doing well. Your thread looks familiar somehow. ;)

Oh...also, I've been fiddling with this video editing program and came up with a little (poor quality) stop motion video that I'll be posting today with any luck! I'll add it into my sig when I do. Keep an eye out. Maybe this will lead to many more videos from TheGreenFog TV! Stay tuned!

Ok, well, that's all for now. I hope to be back within a couple hours working on some updates...if not...they'll be here soon. I'll definitely put SOMETHING up for your enjoyment today. :) Stay high. RastafarI.

Check it out guys:

TheGreenFog TV - "Spliff Assist #1" (NEW! Video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfCq6lheCk4)

Had a couple minutes, and of course I was stoned, so I decided to fool around with making a "stop motion" video. It didn't come out exactly how I wanted, mainly because I didn't plan to do it and didn't set anything up correctly, but instead of waiting to do it right, I thought I'd throw this one up here for you guys to see.

I added in some other bud pics & some pics of the blunt I rolled for the Blunt Rolling Contest '07. And of course, the music is the sh*t.

This will hopefully be the first installment of several videos to come from TheGreenFog TV. This is a work in progress, so your feedback is welcome and appreciated. Stay tuned for more!

OH, and I wanted to also say that those joints in there are not really representative of what I usually roll. I usually make them straighter. After I made the video, I was ashamed at my own joints. Ha...but I had broken up a bunch of bud, so I just rolled a bunch real quick for the vid.

Hope you enjoy!!

Hey, Scarlet Sky! Do I recognize you from somewhere? ;)

I didn't mean that (the unhealthy plant remark) in a bad way at all. I definitely didn't mean to hurt your feelings. :( I will go look at your thread and reconsider my evaluation, but I just said it...well, because that's what I saw at first glance. I believe I made somewhat of a disclaimer in there too. :p

I'd much rather be told that my plants looked like something was wrong (which I have been told), than have people 'blow smoke up my ass' by telling me that they look wonderful when they don't. If they did that, then I would never learn how to fix them, eh?

Welcome to the boards, much love and respect, and good luck with the war. :D

Did you take a peek at the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfCq6lheCk4)? What did you think? :)

I didn't get to do any updates today ... :( but hopefully they'll be up soon. Then you can tell me how unhealthy mine look. ;)

Imma go skin one up and have a good day! :D:D:D:D

Be cool. RastafarI.

hey f<r>og... i gess the pix of the flowering moms threw you off. they look odd, i'll admit, but that's because of 30-40 branches per plant fighting and stretching for dominance (not to mention the stretching caused by the super phosphate...

hmmm, i seem to recall a misty f<r>og in a past life or something... idk, i probably smoke too much :D

I have finally read all of this thread. Love the grow:D . I am on dialup as well and only got a few of the bigger pictures but I still think you should continue the thread.

I actually stopped by to talk about your ??Closet of Life??. Have you looked into one of these types of fluorescent lights? You can see one here Sunblaster 200 Watt - Flourescent Bulbs (http://progressive-growth.com/proddetail.php?prod=sb200&cat=8) or you can go to there home page of the guys that make it Future Harvest Development : : Lighting for Indoor Gardening (http://www.extremegrowing.com/lighting.html) the only thing is that they don??t seem to have updated their website with the new light (just out).

I am not trying to sell these to you and I would upload a couple of picture of my plant that is under this light but can??t seem to figure that out (newbie at this board). But the lights do such a good job on veg and I will soon find out how they do on flower too. Sorry to say that the plant I have is going to be for seed since I got some feminized seed and grew just one (wanted to make mistakes slowly) and it turn out to be a male :( but I look on the bright side and started another plant (hopefully female) and am going to seed it so I don??t have to buy seeds in the future (at least no that kind).

Hope this helps.

PS: can you tell me how to upload pictures. TIA;)

Hey, guys. Thanks for stopping by the thread and keeping it alive.

budbreath420, it's been a while. Glad to see you're still around. Thanks for the props.

Hound, I dunno about those lights. I believe they may work. Haven't gotten a chance to really take a good look at them, though. You should be able to upload pics if you click on the Post Reply button or the Go Advanced button. Look for the paperclip icon. Max 2mb. I'm glad you are inspired! :D

Omegagodly, thanks, bro.

Chronic Chrissy, I hope you get a chance to read the whole thing. I'm actually going to be rereading it all myself here soon. I dunno what you mean about 'blowing smoke.' I mean, I know I said it, but are you just relating to what I said or are you saying that 'my' plants suck? Just to clarify. :D My feelings won't be hurt. I accept constructive criticism. :D

I've been hanging out in other areas of the boards for a little while recently, which is why I haven't been in here much. Also working on making a slideshow summary of this log (I've got a bit of writer's block) and putting it at the front of my next log (JOURNAL OF A MADMAN II) coming to a monitor near you soon!

RastafarI.

Exactly, I just wantto know if they are where they should be(which people say they are) and if there is anything I can improve, since my eye is more inexperienced.

Well here are two pictures of my plant 5 days apart with the light that I mentioned above.

Now this is God Bud and is supposed to be a compact plant but the first plant that I grew (which end up being male :( ) grew very similar to yours. I used two fluorescent lights and a 120W incandescent. Yes I know now that that was not the best setup for it but the plant grew similar to the ones you grew in the cabinet.

Just to note the plant is turned 180 degree between the pictures.

This plant started under the 200W compact fluorescent light and seems to be much more compact than the first plant I grew. I also started to LST it (probably too soon) as you can see in the pictures. Plant was approximately 30 days old from seed in the pictures. Hey just starting to grow and learning slowly. They also have a 125W light as well but that one has less lumens to it.

Hope this helps (and the pictures work :D ).

No problem at all AB. Glad to have you. I'm a little lost...seeing as that was so long ago, I dunno what you are talking about on this ONE part of your post. I forget what I put in the rep.

Looking forward to the AlwaysBlazed Grow Log!

Your plants are nice Chrissy. We should only blow smoke...into the air...not up eachothers' butts.

I'm a little confused by your posts. Are you trying to sell me a light? I don't need one. Are you telling me that more lumens will equal better vegged plants...cuz I pretty much know that. I'm not trying to be a dick here, but I just don't get it. You have 4 posts, and you used 2 of them to "advertise" your light here. Maybe you can enlighten me. :) Thanks. :smokin:

Sorry if I sound confusing, I am not trying to. I also am not trying to sell any lights to anyone and I figure since you had such a nice grow that you know that more lumens means better plants.

I read the string on compact fluorescents and found that people where using 45W bulbs (or something similar) just like you. Now if you take four 45W bulb you get 180W but you don??t get 19,000 lumens. You would get about 8,000 lumens (this may not be perfectly accurate so you can correct me if I am wrong) for the same amount of electricity (give or take a little). You have 4 compact lights in your cabinet and say that your plants are stretching probably due to low lumens (my first plant did that as well). Now you can add more of the 45W bulbs to give more lumens to stop the stretching but then you are paying more for electricity than if you got one of these bigger bulbs or even some T5??s. I really don??t care where you get it from but I did look at the 120W bulbs that where in the hardware store and they only gave about 5,000 lumens per bulb.

So I am just trying to save money by getting more lumens for less watts. I would love to have a HPS but I don??t think I could vent enough to remove that amount of heat. I just have a small closet grow.

Again I am not trying to sell nothing to anybody. I just bought this light because of the lower heat it produces and found it did a good job. Now I am trying to get my process down so I can get better result (not that I have had any yet). I read your entire log, which took a while and enjoyed all the pictures that you posted. You have given me many good ideas of what I can do and what I should be looking for (like shorter plants, my first was over seven foot). So I hope to learn more from your continued log and the new one (if I can find it).

So grow on and enjoy. Again sorry for the confusion.

Hound.
