Krimet the more you trim the more you direct the plant's energy to repair and healing rather than bud production. Everytime you pluck, snip etc.....you are putting the brakes on your plant and slowing things down. Overpruning will also DEFINITELY affect your final yield......a lovely tidbit I found out the very hard way during one grow when I pruned everything I had and ended up with less than 1/2 yield at the end. :(

PS....Don't listen to the growers who tell you trim everything off so the plant "can concentrate on the buds." It DOESN'T work that way......trust me. The plant uses ALL those extra leaves one way or another. Keep your trimming and pruning to a MINUMUM. ;)

Don't cut anything off your plants, ever. Unless it's dead or ready to be harvested. There are a couple exceptions of course, like if you just can't bend a big fan leaf out of the way or you are topping, but otherwise just leave your plants alone for crying out loud. They grow best by far if they can remain long-haired hippie freaks. Promise.

That sucks, Bub. Really. Is it as bad as growing a crop to harvest and getting everything ripped off? Either way, don't like to see it happen. Good luck in the future.

So Mr Hound has been taking care of the plants for the past few days and I've just been taking quick glances. I looked semi-closely  yesterday.....and was HORRIFIED to discover what I thought was POWDERY MILDEW ALL OVER the buds of my white widow. I even looked at some of them under the microscope (we bought this cool kids microscope to check trichs with...it ROCKS!!) and its ALLLLL trichomes!!! :woohoo: I grew White Rhino before but this but that stuff never got a "snowy" look like these do. Pretty amazing......and she AINT DONE yet!! :D :stoned::rastasmoke:
Looking great ...as usual WH...:greenthumb:

Say what you will about any strain...but, you can't beat a good widow lady. I like 10% amber; anymore, and she'll drive you into the ground....:stoned:

It don't get any better than White Widow...if it does...I don't want to know...:rastabanna:

Didn't check on the plants for 3 days. They were great before, then completely dead when I looked in. A fan went out, but I don't think that's the main problem. I "winged it" mixing up nutes, and PH was too high. Either problem alone probably would have ended up OK, but the two together were too much for the girls to handle. Lesson learned. It sure would be nice to have loads of money so I can set all kinds of James Bond growing gadgets to be controlled and recorded by computer. A print out of temps and other conditions each day would be really cool. OK, I guess I'll set all that up before dinner.

Opie I am so sorry to hear this!! :( I'd have been IN TEARS!! I remember once a while back I overdid the fungus spray and lost part of a crop......turned out to be less than I thought it would but when it happened I was SURE it was half the crop. I FLIPPED out!

I looked into a lot of those gagdets and haven't found anything affordable yet.......let you know when I do....(or when we win the lottery....)

You know Rhizome told me pretty much the same thing....harvest earlier or she'll knock you out. She got held up a bit with the root problems but I think she'll finish fine.

We have 2 new WW clones we just turned to 12/12 in five gallon buckets so I sure hope she lives upt to all the hype.

You guys really do think I make this stuff up.

I had the really interesting experiance once of hitting a big ol' bowl of late harvest WW pollen hash ( dry screened trichs) immediately before leaving Abraxas alone and attempting to find my hotel on foot ( a ten minute walk...)

Twenty minutes later...

Neon spinning RLD soccer thugs carnivale music raising the Fear-

Psychic...Powerless...Another man's sac...

I had to sit tripping in Dutch ( politely inquiring if I'm allright) for an hour before I could try for home base again.

Careful w/ that axe

Sorry, rambling, too much bubble for a week running- and we've barely touched the load...

I'd say getting ripped off is much worse. Having my house ripped off twice in as many years has shown me the light, but I wasn't growing weed in that house. Thank God for home owners insurance.

Never. The other man's sac has me a little worried though.

...I wasn't growing weed in that house. Thank God for home owners insurance.

I was wondering if insurance would cover the value of a grow that got stolen or destroyed. I'm pretty sure they would cover the value of all your equipment, and it seems like as long as you have the card they ought to cover the value of any finished or growing weed. Thoughts?

They both suck big time!! :(

I agree big time. Mean people suck. Accidents... well I guess they suck too, but nothing like mean people.

Sorry for the hijack, now back to your regularly scheduled stuff (if you so desire).

Well losing your crop sucks. That's first off. Second....there IS something about how malicious someone has to be to steal someone else's grow. It DOES have an extra sour taste to it.

I DO think Rhizome just makes stuff up......ever noticed that about Rhizome? :D

I also DO wonder about homeowners insurance covering things......we had a similar situation yesterday....we blew a GFI outlet and before we figure out the problem there was some heavy discussion on calling an electrician.

NOW.....given that mmj is legal in CA......we would LOVE to hear peoples thoughts on what to do when you need an electrician in your grow room. Anyone had to deal with this? Would being state legal be enough protection? Thoughts?

PS....Found the GFI and reset....things ok but it gave us a LOT to think about.......

Rule of thumb is that your insurer will deny any claim they possibly can- and you'll have to go to court to try to collect. Are you comfortable talking about your grow in a courtroom? Knowing that DOJ doesn't care about state laws?

If you need an electrician, try talking to your local co-op to see if they know a reputable " friendly".

These are my three WW clones....Sal in FFOF soil was just transplanted into a 3 gal container (because Stinky said to do this to your plants so I did.....;)) and topped for the second time. I'm trying to go for the "bush" shape thing which is the reason for the extra topping. She's doing great!.....especially for something in soil at our house.

The other two clones I vegged for a bit and have turned them....they are in day 8 of flower and doing well......but NOT anything exciting so far.

We started flushing this plant yesterday....no flush solution this time.....Opie has just plain taken the fun out my Flora Kleen :( :D

She should be done within a few days....no more than a week I'm sure.

As soon as this girl is done I'll bleach out that large 10 gal tub and stick that Brainstorm in it.....what do you think of THAT???

I'm really starting to see the "white" on this plant. Very interesting effect.

Starting to see the home stretch here.....she hasn't had any problems since we cracked the bucket and has grown steadily since. I'd say perhaps another 2 weeks but maybe sooner since I was warned.....twice.....not to let her go long. ;)

Rock I've been using Flora kleen.....and its secret ingredients for quite a while and was a happy camper until Opie came along and spilled the beans about what was in the flush solutions (Rhizome is in on it as well......:wtf:) and now my bubble has been burst and my dreams shot down like Bambi's mother. :(

Have a good day everyone. :D

This was a fairly hard plant to trim.....quite a bit of density to it so I'm somehwhat afraid to guess weights......OH OK....you twisted my arm....:D Maybe 3 oz? I took perhaps six or seven clones off this girl after I turned so I'm not at all unhappy with that finish.

Weedhound
04-28-2008, 03:04 AM
This plant actually DID finish faster than we thought......We first checked trichs at day 57 since it looked a week from done but she's got about 40% trichs at this point so was further along than we suspected. We were anticipating a slower finish but when we checked trichs 3 days ago they were ALREADY at 20% amber!

We are moving operations to this log now that the WB has been harvested. While the WW in the 10 gal tub won't yield a pound we're sure hoping the Brainstorm will!!

See you there. :) :stoned:
