Just me, or was this guy an asshole? (sort of long)

To get right to the point of the story, go to the bold.

So last night I smoked out my buddy in college and his younger brother (who is also very good friend of mine) who is in high school. I made a club run and picked up 1/8th of Super Sour Deisel. It was fucking freezing outside, so we decided to take the stealth route and smoke in his bedroom (which is upstairs, and their parents were downstairs). I created a doob tube and kept the Febreeze handy, all was well until my friend's friend showed up.

Let's call him Dan. Now Dan, in my opinion is a total bitch and asshole cunt. He came over, climbed up the stairs and immediately complained about the smell of dank bud. Now the parents are somewhat fine with the smell of smoking, but my friends still like to keep it on the d/l to keep them happy.

Anyways, he refuses to use the doob tube and makes us go outside in the fucking cold so he can take his hits. He took his smoke in well, so I start to kinda like this guy again.

After he smoked, we went back upstairs to the bedroom to just chill with video games, music and internet shit. I introduce myself because I forgot to earlier, and tell him to call me by my last name (which is the name I go by, because I have a cool last name). He goes, "Bullshit, I'm not calling you that, what's your real name?"

As if I was going to lie about my name. Then I tell him that he knows my sister, "Beth", because they went to high school together. He says, "Oh I remember her, is she dead yet?" What the fuck?

I told him that my sister is engaged to a pretty cool guy, and it's even better because he's pretty fucking rich. He goes, "Sheesh, I've heard that story before" He asked me where I got the bud, I said the medical store (which is the best bud available in Los Angeles) then he said, "I hardly believe that, the bud wasn't even that good." YOU JACKASS MOTHERFUCKER.

Then he complained about how he didn't want to listen to music and play Gauntlet with us. It was 3 a.m., almost below freezing outside and this dude acts like he wants to go out riding dirtbikes or some kRaZy KoOl shit.

Then Dan handed my friend a cigar, and started talking about how he felt pure energy flowing through his arms. (This guy was fucking BAKED, but he kept denying it)

We all laughed at him, but in a friendly way because he kept refusing that he was high. He got pissy, and said he was going home to take a nap then see his girlfriend. It was 3 a.m. He got up, TOOK BACK THE CIGAR WHICH HE GAVE AS A GIFT TO MY FRIEND, then left.

what a bitch, tell him if hes gonna disrespect your bud then you'll

C) kick his ass

Just kick him out next time. When he starts bitching you can just tell him, "the door's over there." You'll get the point across. Be honest to this guy and tell him you don't want him around you because of how disrespectful he is. Distance yourself from these people. You don't need to escalate it to fighting over one minor thing like this, just keep him away, that way it won't ever escalate to that.

the dude needs to be taught a lesson in respect.

He walks up my stairs and walks past my mom, as he's doing that he takes off his shirt and drops it on the floor in the middle of the hall, then as he's walking in my room still near my mom he says extremely loudly "SMELLS LIKE MARIJUANA IN HERE" (like your friend's parents, my mom doesnt care she just doesnt want to hear it being screamed throughout the house)...i let him stay for a smoke and kicked him out promptly. Your guy was a total dickhead too. Kick him out and make it clear that you're kicking him out, not saying 'see ya later'.

Yep, this guy was a total cunt. And I didn't want to make a big scene because it was really late and I didn't want to wake up my friend's parents. I guess I just turned the other cheek.

But believe me, if it were my own house I would have broken his fucking nose.

Could you not have fixed the problem there instead of making a post? Everyone encounters these people every now and then and its up to you (and only you) to neutralize the problem.

Just because you are a pot smoker doesn't mean you can't be a man and be firm and decisive. Especially if you are supplying the pot. Its a different story if you are in his house. Either you take his shit and smoke or get out.

In this case, it is obvious that he needed to be told how the cow ate the corn. Usually after the 'you need to leave' speech, they backpedal and shut up cause he still wants to smoke.

Ive never been an in-your-face type of person but I will let people know that they have to behave like a human and respect the house if they wish to stay.

Once you stoop to violence you, in essence, say that you lack the intelligence or the skill set to handle the situation. Its like when parents beat their kids. Its saying that they don't have the skills to handle a 5 yr old. And then what happens when the 5 yr old becomes an adult? He/she reaches for the very same tools that they learned as a 5 yr old, which is more violence.

My guess is that our thread-starter was raised in a tolerant home and has handled this situation with tolerance. But sometimes tolerance is interpreted as 'approval' and that should not be the case here.

When someone insults me, i'll shout at them, and threaten them. I wont hit them unless they try to hit me.

If someone annoys me same thing goes.

As soon as someone insults my family, i'll fight them untill they're not moving.

When someone says something that bad about someones family words wont work.

If you tell them to stop, they'll carry on. If you hit them so hard they cant move, they'll never even think of doing it again.

Family loyalties mean everything, and when someone does something that insulting they deserve to be lamped.

What does that say about the type of person you are and how you choose to handle difficult situations? And what if you were with your child? Is that the lesson you want to teach them, is that you resolve problems with your fists?

I know a black belt that was being hassled by a homeless man.
Certainly the blackblet could have kicked his ass, but he chose to walk way.
I couldn't believe it and I asked him "why?"
His reply was the he could have used violence but was it worth risking the the small chance of getting cut or stabbed by this homeless guy?
In the end he was right.

You never know what you have when you get in with it with another man.
If someone picked a fight with me and cornered me....and I thought my life was in danger....they would get a plastic shank in the throat. Thats violence that I never want to get to.

Walking away is saying its ok to say those kind of things. Things like that are not ok, and people who say them need to be taught a lesson in life. Simple as that. Im not a violent person, i dont like fighting, but if anything is said about my family they've got a fight weather they like it or not. Family loyalty.

Yeah, by reading this story, he doesn't sound like too friendy of a guy. I would have stopped talking to him right after the first smart ass comment. I just ignore people like that and usually kick them out of my circle until they learn to talk to me like a normal human being. If it's my weed, and they direspect me, they can go find someone else to smoke them up with.

As for "making me" go outside in the cold, there are 2 words for that, fuck and you. :) How can someone make you go outside? I would have told him to pipe down and relax.

The guy seems like a complete utter ass hole.. You should have DDT'd him through a table, then told him to STFU & not to smoke your weed.. Then before you leave give him a leg drop... That would teach him about dissin your weed and been disrespectful..(sp)

Definitely not a good situation. He definitely sounds like a jerk. I have to agree with most of what ~hewhispers~ said. Although he sounds like a real jerk, that doesn't mean that you necessarily have to resort to violence.

There are many things you could have said to diffuse that situation from the beginning, or at least evaluate the severity of his "assholeness" by making a countering comment.

Most people will realize they are in the wrong if you call them out and stand your ground, and then you will earn more respect from others. Then if he continues to be a prick, I like the phrase "There's the door, bro. Use it."

That should have calmed him down to a tolerable level...or rid you of his presence. The friend whose house you were in also should have made a stand. I sure as hell wouldn't have gone outside to smoke just for this joker...hell no.

LIP, I wonder sometimes about you, man. I've kept my mouth shut about some of the sh*t you say, but, come on. All violence does is essentially put mud on your face. People will never look at you the same way again. You'd be kicking a guy's ass who has more problems than you do. Feel good about how you have less problems, rather than expressing it in rage.

What is this "stand up for your family"? What are you standing up for?
This might be an age thing but where are you that it gets to the point that someone is looking to goad you about your family.

What is it, "I f*cked your sister"? or some childish crap like that?

You and I know that they are saying that, not because it is true, but because they want to get under your skin. They probably dont even know your family. They simply want you to react and they know they can get a rise out of you.

You, my friend, are being manipulated. Dont you see that yet?

And it is not about me being a pacifist...its about avoiding getting into that position to begin with.

No good, in the end, comes from violence. None. Maybe it feels good nd I get that, but in the end...it solves nothing.

Children that are raised in violent homes grow up to duplicate that violence in their own homes when they have their won children because it is what they have learned from their parents.

Its not a good tool. It may be effective at that moment, but in the long run has a long-reaching negative impact.

It took me years to 'unlearn' the "lessons" my parents taught me as a child. I resent them always for that.

Let me put it this way, I'm most definitely not an extreme pacifist by any means. There are situations where I would kick someone's ass, and have done so.

But in this situation, from the way it was described, I would surely not recommend pulling a gun to someone and shooting at their feet. That, to me, sounds like extreme violence.

I'm not saying that all violence is unavoidable, and I most assuredly will not let someone push me or my family around, but just because someone is ignorant enough to say something rude or stupid (probably because they think it's funny), that doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to automatically put them in a wheelchair.

The way I see it...

If he said, "OH, yea, I remember your sister. Isn't she dead yet?"

I would have to say "What the f**k did you just say? I sure as hell hope you're kidding, cuz that's not funny to me."

Generally, in my experience, when you make swift, firm action (verbally), people tend to backtrack and apologize, or at least withdraw. Then you have won, they go into their shell, and there is no violence.

Now, had he continued to say rude and insulting comments, I would ask him to just leave completely, or we would have problems.

Then, sometimes, he pushes you, or continues his bullsh*tting, and then you knock him out. But that is far away from what happened here.

How you perceive the world is different than mine, but we are in the same world.

I have a history of violence, and anger control. When I was younger, I use to think violence solved problems, and I would be feared and respected by others. It doesn't work that way. You could beat somebody senseless, but you know what? You can't shed what you done to another person. You can't change other people's perceptions of you. Once the act is done, you can't take it back, you have to live with it. Do you believe you can control the aftermath of violence? You can't.

Everytime you hit someone, you put mud on yourself, keeping the light within you to shine. Becoming angrier and more consumed, desensitized from what you have done. I can remember those nights when I looked in a mirror thinking of what a monster I was, and you grow to hate yourself.

The only time when violence is necessary is defending yourself. Even then, it's possible to subdue someone without smacking the shit out of them. Violence in the end doesn't solve anything and only consumes the eye of the beholder.
