Kind but Sad lady south of Boston
Well, I've run out again, as usual! That's what happens when I can only get an 1/8th at a time! I am just not comfortable cruising the dark streets looking for a seller, so I guess I am sol until my little seedlings are grown- a horrible prospect! This one guy at work gives me the royal run-around, since he is always looking too, and when it is scarce, which it always seems to be, he gets some and I get nothin! I actually tried some of that legal weed stuff to alleviate my stress, but I don't know if the mild effect is real or placebo. I am very frustrated and hope I have better luck soon. The holidays are grim without weed - I don't drink and find other people's merriment hard to take when I have nothing to smoke. :(
What's a nice, forty-something lady to do??? Shoot, if I was in high school I would never have this problem. That's sad isn't it - I can buy my own house but not my own weed!

Go back to college! Take a course and hang around the lunchroom stoner table! I was in my 50's when I went back! Showed the kids that a little old lady like me could clear a 4 foot bong! After that, it was easy! No problem scoring!

I feel your pain. I am in the same situation. Own my own home but have no smoke.
The school idea is a good one. In the mean time read up on growing here. Those seedlings will grow. Keep planting more as they grow. Trust me on this. Harvesting every few weeks is the best way.
There are quite a few of us in our 40's here.

Welcome to the board. Yeah...I always like to decorate the Christmas tree while stoned and listen to some Christmas tunes.
I hope you'll find something before Christmas so you can really enjoy the holiday season :).

Thanks for the advice kind friends, but the irony is I already have three advanced degrees - in fact, I am a college professor- but asking students for weed is prohibited, and rightly so- I can just see some kid bargaining for a A in exchange for a 1/4!!
I guess I am just screwed for the time being. I am very leery of the internet as a retail option, but if anyone can vouch for a safe source, I'm game-
Rock on over 40's! Maybe we should form our own grey-haired group! That would be fun- we could stroll down memory lane- remember 1972??? NOW THAT WAS A GOOD YEAR!

You go girl.
Don't you have a stable of graduate students...upcoming holiday parties... hmmm.
I hear your pain though. My few clients are older professionals who buy from me because I AM an older professional. I think once you hit the big 3-0 you pretty much have no choice but to grow your own!
So hey what do you do for fun down there in South Boston? It's great how much places like JP and Roxbury have come around in the last decade! I was shocked last time I went down there. There's SO much renovation being done on the old tripledeckers.

Hi Stinky- Thanks for feeling my pain! I teach undergraduates, so there are few grownups in sight! I had an amazing experience one day last year however- I had been out for about a week and had even prayed for some (!) and lo and behold, in my afternoon class, I was talking to a student who had his hands shoved in his pockets, and when he pulled them out to gesture, guess what fell out of his pocket- a gram of weed! He almost had a heart attack, but cool-headed me scooped it up and headed out into the hall with the kid in tow. I told him I wasn't going to turn him in, but I had to confiscate the drugs, and I warned him not to bring things like that to school again, because another teacher might not be so understanding. It was the most amazing miracle! Perhaps I should pray to the goddess again?
My husband and I used to live in Dorchester, but were priced out of the triple deckers when it came time to buy a house- so we headed south to Brockton, where you can still get good deals and not all the neighborhoods are bad as you might expect. We wanted to live in a diverse area, since we are planning to adopt a couple of kids from Liberia (hence my nome de plume!) next year, if all goes well.
Nice to meet you miss stinky- we mid-life gals need to stick together!
I will keep you posted on my seedlings- and my sad search for relief :)

I would be pissed if one of my professors confiscated my weed for their own personal use. But having not known I would have thought she was just being really nice and thankful. A little harsh though.
I think my Film Crit professor toked up before class today. We had our final, and when ever someone asked her something she would stare blankly and than slowly answer... Not to mention she misplaced everything.
Oh and welcome to the boards.

I feel your pain too. Living north of Boston really isnt any better. Stupit college kids come to town and poof its harder to get. If you go out an hour from Boston Lowell, Wochester the price of an O will drop in price as much as $100 for the same stuff.

Hey Jagged- Would it have been better to turn the kid in and give the weed to the cops- I don't think so! But that is what many teachers would have done, and having a bit to smoke made grading papers that night so much nicer- I might have even been a bit more lenient as a result :) Besides, my advice to the student was good- it isn't a smart idea to carry weed around in your pocket at school. I'll bet he was more careful in the future. I sure couldn't just hand it back to him- that would have set a dangerous precedent, because then all the kids watching would think it's okay to carry who knows what around. They can get kicked out of school for that...now that's harsh!
I personally don't smoke before class, but after dealing every day with over 80 students in classes, I deserve some in the evening! When you are my age you'll understand, haha.
Thanks for the welcome, dear!

Hi Zimzum - Boy I wish I knew someone in Wochester! You're right, it's those darn kids smoking up all our weed, ungrateful wretches!! kidding
But really, I hope when they get older and see how hard it is to find once they are out of the dorms, maybe they will get active in politics and help us all out. That's the sort of social security we all need.

I actually realized you couldn't give it back when I first read the post. You are in a position of authority and could have had major repercussions if he went and bragged to his friends about such a cool professor. Now that I think about it, since it had to be confiscated, may as well have been smoked. It was his own fault for being that careless.
I actually will enjoy reading posts from you in the future. I enjoy hearing from smokers with careers and who have had more experienc with life in general. It is a lot of fun learning who is actually still smoking later on in life.
I hope to see some more input from you in the future.

Quick question???? was the herb any good from your student???? He He He. :D

As I recall, the weed was quite nice! The kid had good taste ;)
When I was in Amsterdam, I went to the Cannabis College, where they had very interesting info on the history of hemp and how users have been unfairly persecuted- I wish they had a t-shirt that said "I graduated with honors from Cannabis College" I would have bought it! If years using counted, I'd have a Ph.D, having started smoking in 1970. How many people on this board were even alive then? Yikes-
I have never had any bad effects from smoking, though drinking almost killed me- I quit that bad drug in 1984. I know many many people who have had trouble with booze, and my mother and mother-in-law both died of alcoholism, so this country's attitude about pot is absurd. My husband and I plan to smoke until we croak!

Oh and I also didn't realize it happened in the middle of class. I would have been getting his number afterwards though if I were in your class :)

Hi Liberiamom...
If your work ever takes you out to the 5 college area stick a little post on the Massachusetts locals! I work at one of the colleges... there's a couple lovely spots for a toke around here!
