Hi I'm looking for a good techno or electronica artist or DJ that has some songs that tell a story. Some of that crazy ass shit, but not so much of the repetitive stuff. I've been listening to some infected mushrooms if that can help anyone.

I'll go with some big names since you're new to genre, I'm assuming?
ATB
Tiesto
Paul Van Dyk
Paul Oakenfold
Infected Mushroom
Shpongle
Astral Projection
Hallucinogen
Benny Benassi
Juno Reactor
Tomcraft
Sasha & Digweed
There is a ton of good electronic music out there, but I enjoy singles and not entire artists really.
Wow, I just looked up a few of those artists on iTunes and that is some fucking heavy tripping music. I was never much one for techo but christ... What songs would you recommend thatare the "Stairway to Heaven" or "Smells like teen spirit" creme de la ceme of that type of techno
Infected Mushrooms ownz
Yea, I liked them. I like how they infused real instruments with the synth ones. Real instruments are infinately more complex so end up sounding a whole lot trippier.
"Stairway to Heaven" and "Smells like Teen Spirit" are not techno songs. :p That's more rock then anything else. I as well, enjoy Infected Mushroom. You said it best though. The way they interlock real instruments with synthesizers for a total combustion of mind and body. Love that! I'm getting sidetracked again, but if you're looking for something more rock then check out the song "Dazed and Confused" by Led Zeppelin. Greatest song ever. :thumbsup:Quote:

Let me know if that song interests you and I'm sure it will. It's golden!
Yea, that was what I was trying to get at. I tend to talk in very roundabout terms... I didnt like that song as much as the infected mushroom stuff. The mushroom stuff has so much sound packed into each second it's like sensory overload.Quote:

You want to experience electronica? Start with one artist. Aphex Twin. His discography covers pretty much every branch of electronic music...and he does it better than anyone else.
From there...well, there's a million different directions.
You like mellow stuff? Try DJ Shadow
Even more mellow? Try Ochre
Harder stuff? Squarepusher
Even harder stuff? Venetian Snares
Atmospheric stuff? Brian Eno
Avant garde kind of stuff? John Cage (one of the original's in electronic music)
Hip-hop undertones? Prefuse 73
Jazzier stuff? Kettel
If you have Soulseek, hit me up @ Starchman22...I've got weeks upon weeks of electronic music.
I can go on for hours. PM me with questions, or track me down on soulseek. For serious, I love talking music.
Check out The Gorillaz...they tell lotsa stories.
I'm going to see Paul Oakenfold tomorrow night at a club. He usually keeps the party going.
