Meh. There's really nothing special there. Instead of paying 20 bucks, we could just use an IM client for free, and still get pretty much the same kind of features. But that's just me...

Limiting PM access to Cafe Members greatly reduces PM spam and other nonsense - that alone is a big benefit of limiting it to paid members.

However, with that said, yes there are numerous free alternatives to communicating, including the messages boards already here.

So if it helps, think of Cafe Membership as mostly a donation of sorts.

Credit cards are processed through a separate server. Also, credit card numbers are partly masked (hidden) from us for additional security and card holder privacy.

We used to accept PayPal until May-2003 when they basically terminated our account, and that of numerous other cannabis related websites.

PayPal likes to wait until one is doing a lot of business and then they "lock" the account. Your products technically appear to be ok in regards to PayPal's TOS ... but that didn't seem to matter in regards to our site, and that of many other sites ... beware of PayPal!

If you're doing more than say $1,000/month in volume, you may want to consider getting a regular credit card merchant account - costs some money upfront, but works better in the longrun.

PayPal is NOT a bank, lacks basic consumer/merchant protections, poor customer service, and zero privacy; PayPal has openly acknowledged sharing their transaction data with the FBI, etc.

Ron, I am interested in sending in my 20$ gift, but a couple questions first.

Besides PMing abilities what else does a cafe membership offer the user? I have heard mention of a members only area, what does that intail.

I am mostly interested only in cultivation knowledge, is there more forums based on cultivation, or is it geared more twords the social side?

There's no additional "content" per se in the cafe - it's basically a place where one can socialize with other cafe members; send PMs to them.

hey Ron, youre online!! I asked a question not too long ago, but nobody could reply, so I was wondering if you could help me.. When i go to www.cannabiscafe.com and try to login, it says that my username and password are correct, BUT that they cant be used to enter the Cannabis Cafe because im not a Cafe Member.. even though I clearly AM a Cafe Member lol is there something im missing?

What address (URL) shown in the Address blank in your web browser for the error screen?

If you're being redirected to www.cannabinoid.com, then there's a caching issue somewhere - are you on AOL or MSN?

Are you also registered at the Marihemp Network boards? http://boards.marihemp.com/ - perhaps somehow you're being redirected there.

So many possibilities - if can post what Web Address (URL) of the error screen, that will greatly help me pin down the exact problem...
