What do you think causes this?
Yeah I know! A newbie trying to grow something is what causes it! But anyway... 30 days of growth. Into flowering about a week. Airy soil with perlite no ferts in soil. Gave it a weak solution of 15-30-15 about 2 weeks ago. Only water after that. Watered 4 days ago when the soil was dry and containers were light. Soil still has moisture. cfl's. Fans blowing all over the place. Here's two pics. Claw leaves and full pic. 3 gallon container. To me it looks like it's thirsty but soil is still ok. Possibly needs some more grub?
Thanks!

How much air do you have blowing directly onto the plant? Some strains frown on contant, heavy airflow.
What do you think causes this?
it could be root bound. same thing happend to this plant.Changed to bigger bucket and was fine .See in this pic my plant is also clawing too.(one on the right)

Marc you still using Miracle Grow for your nutrients?
What do you think causes this?
lemonboy, No air blowing directly on it. Just barely over the tops and mostly on the lights.
Big Bud, I thought that too. But it's in a 3 gallon container. Would transplant into a larger one (5 gallon) but am just wondering how tough it'd be to lift 2.5 gallons of dirt and the plant out and stick it in a 5 gallon! Soil is really airy so it doesn't like to hold together too well when transplanting. I'm sure it can be done. Also have always heard that it wasn't the best thing in the world to transplant when in flowering.
Zandor, NO WAY! That stuff is junk! You know that. I have some Schultz (probably just as bad huh) 10-54-10 that I was going to use when flowering. I gave one plant some blood meal tea I brewed up. It liked it! But that was right before flowering. It's going nuts. I didn't give it to this one. I did though (you'll like this) give them all some 15-30-15 MIRACLE GROW in one watering about 10 days ago. Just couldn't help myself! Not using it anymore though. Tossed it out after you scolded me...HA! But it was way diluted. Like 1/8th of a tsp per gallon. Nothing reacted to that watering except for better growth.
I had another guy tell me it looked like a classic nitrogen overdose and to back off any N and just give it P&K. But I haven't given it hardly any N. The whole plant is a little droopy it seems. Maybe it is rootbound. hard for me to believe that though as I planted two plants in one 3 gallon container and that one went till day 38 before they both grew balls and I killed 'em. Upon inspection of the roots, they weren't even close to being root bound. A long long way from it.
Any help would be appreciated!
THANKS!!

A healthy looking plant like that droops more from heat but it's just a guess. What is the temperature at the top of the canopy?
The Shultz Cactus nutrients is closer then the flower stuff fyi. Still not the best but it is easy to find. You should be using full strength nutrients at this stage the plant is large enough to take the extra nutrients but watch for over feeding then. You are only using CFL so the plant will not grow as fast. So even cutting back the nutrients from full strength to 3/4 strength may be a better idea.
What do you think causes this?
NO I will tell you what I THINK the problem is....
The plant is under going its transition to flower stage and you have the poorly acclimated CFLs offering the light :)
She needs some red spectrum lighting.
Throw in about 5 or 6 100W regular light bulbs.
Help her out man :)

Zandor, Temps basically in the middle of the plant have been between 76 and 80 all through the grow. Have been careful to not let them get real warm. And I looked all over the place in this town to try to find the cactus fert but no luck. Are you saying the 10-54-10 wouldn't be the best for it? If so what about some bone meal tea with whatever K would be in an organic? I can get bone meal. I've got blood meal as I mentioned.
HARDDON, Will the soft/warm white cfl's work the same as the incandescents? I was going to put a few regular bulbs in there but those suckers get so hot I couldn't get them right down on the plant like the cfl's. Or do they need to be? I can go get a few more of the 45 watters that are the warm whites. That way I'd have 7 45 watters all in the warm (or maybe they're soft) white bulbs.
I also just threw up a 2 footers with one of those grow bulbs (cast a sort of purple light) and a warm white.
So basically you guys are saying 1) more of the right spectrum light (and as much as I can stuff in there) and 2) start a more aggressive feeding schedule.
THANKS!!

Wish I could help you out here Marc, but this one is too technical for me love :(
love mand xxx :)

Thanks Mand! No need to help! Just nice to see your mug!
HARDDON, At least one of the bulbs is a 'soft white'. Will this work for flowering?

HaHa !!
That`s what gets me `bout U mand!!!! You throw a few seeds in some compost with horse shit in it -- throw a light over them and you end up with some fantastic plants. whilst others ( including me) try to get all technical ... experimenting with allsorts of different lights, nutes, soil mixes, weird and wonderful ways of creating CO2 etc etc etc and sometimes end up with problem plants!!!
Beginning to think the more ` simple approach` can sometimes be the best.

Hello Digi :) I laughed so much when I read that I nearly wet myself :)
Can I just say guys and please believe when I say it is said in the most nicest possible way...............the tech stuff ;) ...it really is a "guy thing" :)

What do you think causes this?
It's true Digi :) my ex was terrible for it always pulling something apart to see how it worked, and then trying to make it work better. Infact every guy I've ever known has been like that :)
The problem was 9 times out of 10 when he put it back together it always worked worse all not at all ;)
Sorry Marc, I'm hi jacking again............I'll shut up now :)
love mand xxx :)

If an HPS is out of the question, then BY ALL MEANS, throw some warm spectrum CFLs in there.
BY ALL MEANS.
She is light deficient to a degree although you have done a nice job with those shitty lights.
Throw in all you can for red spectrum...try and find 2700K ideally. They sell those 125W 2700K big bulbs like I use for about $100.00
But yes you can get a bunch of the warms and lower the Kelvin which will mimmick late summer light angles, or red shifting.
I would add a couple of the regular CFLs you are using now to the sides / bottoms though.
This is where it will get tricky, as you need to have them close, but the tips and small budlets will burn if the touch the lights.
Good LUCK MB :)

There is some good advice here Marc you should be fine now. Look at the feeding chart in the FAQ and then look at the Ph chart. That is all the information you need.

a very intersting post, alot off good info as always
