Insomniacs (or not) Bed Routine? A.M. routine?

Just curious here. What is your routine for going to bed and sleep? I think we all have heard what the experts say works. But, What really works for you??

For the past 4 months I have done exactly the same thing. Go to bed at the same time. Take whatever vitamins (hope it isn't an infraction to say that here), "sleepy time" chamomile tea, toke if I feel the need, brush my teeth and lie down.

Then, my little 7.2 pound dog thinks she has to be under the covers, because I am. So, she roots around like a pig until she is at the foot of the bed. Then I usually look at the news or a program I've recorded earlier. When I feel sleepy, lights out. If I do not turn things off at that point. I pass the time of sleep and then I cannot sleep. If that happens, you will find me here, late at night. However, it is 0038 right now (canna.com is 0138, DST). I try to be asleep by midnight-1 A.M. and up by 8 A.M.: If the moon and stars are aligned, I get a good nights sleep!

I prefer to wake and start my day off with a medible, usually brownie, coffee and oatmeal!

Then I am good for whatever I need for the day. Lately, I don't seem to need very much mmj since I've been drinking hot tea. However, when it is too hot at night, as in late Aug./Sept. I toked instead of tea. But, I really like the tea with the colder weather now. Even though the house is pretty much climate controlled, I still like the hot tea.

Do you have any secrets for sleep at night or getting up in the AM? Or any special routine Please share them.

Well, I just got real sleepy, so guess I won't be watching this all night like I was up last night, for no reason at all! pr

I'm sure others don't have the energy I.do, but I like to work out in the evenings. Just enough to get my heart rate up for like ten min straight. That helps wear me out a little bit. Also, I try to breathe long and deep for as long as possible ( that's usually the part where I pass out). It I have insomnia as well, my usual knock out time lately is seven am. Then I'm back up at noon or even before sometimes, then I get on here ;) and sit and toke a bit and pass back out. This has been my routine for close to two.weeks now, idk what happened because I used to pass out at three or four am. And id be up for the day around eight/ nine am. This is a great thread, I'm interested too see more methods; I could use the ideas... :jointsmile:

sometimes if I can't sleep I'll get out of bed and go sit in my recliner and then i'm out like a light. I can't smoke herb after a certain time in the evening or it will keep me up, i usually puff right after work, relax for a bit and watch tv and then eat dinner and don't smoke any more after that. but it probably depends on the strain too, the only thing around here is mexi brick which is probably mostly sativa which tends to wake me up. If I'm working on something I'll puff all night and it keep me awake.

I got nothing man! When I can't sleep I just lay there all night, eventually around 5am I fall asleep then wake up at 6:20. I've always had a natural alarm clock and wake up the same time every day regardless of how much or little sleep I have gotten, but now I have developed a insomnia sleep timer and always fall asleep eventually around 5am... so weird

Hey Redlocks - good to see you. Hope all is well. I'm like boaz. If I consume to late in the evening I'll most likely be up for a while, unless it's full on couch lock indica in which case I probably pass out.

yeah no kidding... wish i could find the ultimate cure to my insomnia. coffee early in the am usually burns me out around 8-9pm.. but if im not up in the am ill end up sleeping 12+ hours

I only sleep for about 5 hours a day. I'm also the lightest sleeper, the type that you can walk into the room and say my name while I am sleeping and I'll say 'what?'

ive been through them all and definietly found that getting 7 solid hours of sleep and early am routine does wonders for ur body mind and soul. sleep is underrated

When I work I go to bed after 12 before 2 am and wake up at 6, when I'm off I go to sleep whenever I feel like it. Sometimes I stay up all night and sleep till 5pm the next day. I never have a steady sleep schedule. I smoke whenever and sleep whenever.

i brush my teeth + wash my face.
setup in my bedroom for a toke.
lay in my bed afterwards + watch tv til i pass out for a good night's sleep. :)

& my cat, pringles, curls up next to me for lovinz. <3 :)

Does anyone besides me change up what they toke, say a nice bright sativa in the am and a nice purple indica at bedtime? I do find routine at bed a good thing. I like a little decaf tea or cammomile, a small snack maybeand no tv or good book, then just breathe slow and deep till morning.

Don't change the tea, but try about every Indica and new strain I can get me hands on! With the collectives (and Farmers Markets) here, it is pretty easy to get a variety and reasonably priced different strains. I just try them all! No problem here! There is a Blue Dream XX, I am dying to get my hands on though! Haven't seen it yet, just read the review! I am thinking, maybe it was a daytime bud though-read it about 5 mos. ago! Right now the Tahoe OG is real popular and very good!

I like to read a good book on, well my last book was about the American Indian snuffed by the American Pilgrims! I don't remember the name of the book. A good friend of mine reads more than a book a day and gives me the best ones to read! :jointsmile:pr

I agree you do need to change up so the effect is 'fresh', have some Blue Dream right this very moment and am hoping that it will deliver me to some slumber real soon. I like the 'purps' for sleep and pain. you know PE and GDP, but I just harved some Bluberry K that is very effective for me. About the books, if I start reading I could be up till light!
