Indoor SOG Grow Log......
I never really have utilized the SOG method so this will be a learning experience for me. Advice is much appreciated from anyone, questions as well. So without further a'do.........
3' x 2' x 2' (w x d x h) Veg Cabinet, made from 3/4" thick OSB board, sealed with all purpose sealant during construction and inside edges, 1 1/4" thin screws also holding it together, two 4" holes cut for intake and exhaust, cabinet door sealed with thick weather proofing door seal, two hinges to swing door open and two locking straps with key locks, flat white interior paint double coated, 4" inline fan for exhaust.
For Veg I will be using (2) 36w = 120w CFL's and (2) 40w = 150w CFL's. 4 holes cut into a piece of wood to hold the sockets. 2 of the sockets were actually those shop lights with the metal cone shaped reflector. I used an extension cord to wire them all together. I made sure to use an extension cord that would hold the current needed for the lights to work without over heating the wiring. I like this because I can cut a different piece of wood later, add more lights, and still use the same wiring. The cord I used is rated to carry a maximum of 13amps and or 1030watts. And right now I'm barely drawing like 1.2amps with this light setup. Using chain links and hooks to hang the lights.
Using Happy Frog Soil mixed with Perlite. Even though the soil I get comes with Perlite, I am adding more perlite to have about a 60/40 mix of soil/perlite.
The SOG will be grown with an Indica dominant Hybrid. 14 clones will fill, or try to fill, a 2' x 2'-8" space in the flower box.
They will be getting nothing but filtered ph'd water for the next couple of days. I will post the nutes and feeding schedule on monday when I feed for the first time.
They were placed in soil 18 hours ago so we will call this VEG Day 1.
Using six packs for now. Will transplant into 6" containers to flower. Thinking about vegging for either 2 or 3 weeks. Not sure if I want to veg for 4.
My goal is to grow enough to be able to no longer have to inhale but be able to ingest and still get the same effects. Inhaling gives you the quickest effects but as an asthmatic, I'd rather ingest. I want to start cooking with it. CannaCandy would be cool too......
The first pic is of the first clone taken from the bubbler and placed into soil 3 days ago. So once the rest of them show new growth like this one, I know they are ready for light nutes.
Happy Growing........

Indoor SOG Grow Log......
5 of them are already showing signs of new growth. 3 of them don't look too great, might not make it. And the other 6 are still showing signs of transplant shock. Today was their first taste of supplements. They still aren't ready for nutes so I just gave .5ml of cal-mag, 1ml of liquid karma and 3ml of vitamin B-1 in .5 liter of water. Was just over 500 ppm. Ph'd the water to 6.5 and fed all 14.....
I'll still be happy even if not all clone/cuttings make it. Shoot I'm just happy I was able to keep the strain alive without a mother plant. I did a couple things wrong when I took the cuttings. First I took the cuttings during a dark period, which I knew I shouldn't have done but did anyway. Second I didn't check or correct Ph at all for the first 3 days in the bubbler. By doing these two mistakes I think it cost me a 100% success cloning rate. It is still early to know just how many will make it to flower but like I said, right now I'm just happy I was able to keep the strain going. Right now I have two plants in my flower box, that were vegged for 20 days, that take up about 40% of the 2'x2'-8" screen they are using for support. So if only the five best make it, I can surely get them to fill the space that will be available for them. This SOG attempt might turn into an SCROG in the end...... We shall see
Happy Growing......

Indoor SOG Grow Log......
2 of them were pulled because well they didn't make it, may they RIP..... Good thing was that one of the three that weren't looking too good did come back to life. So now we are looking at 12 clones. Six of them are showing 100% new growth. I'm still waiting for the other six to show more.
The first pic is of the six that are doing really well. The second is of the other six. I also have 4 Skunk Special seedlings growing right along side them. I planted the seeds thinking I was going to have a 0% chance of clones rooting. I just can't find it inside of me to pull the seedlings so I think I will keep them:D.

How are your feelings toward a dome? I think a dome would benefit you in these early stages.

My feelings = I'm up for anything that would help! I've never used a humidity dome before...... Shoot I'm pondering the thought, if I should just pull the six that aren't growing as fast and just doing a scrog with the six that are. I guess before I pull them I should give them a little longer and raise humidity. I have the time and space so I guess it's worth trying, could make all the difference if I tried...... For now I'm just going to foliar spray with plain Ph'd water to keep up humidity......
Thanks for the advice...... Will definately start looking at domes for my next clones......

Follow this advice and get yourself a dome/propagator they are cheap and the difference is amazing. My first set of clones all grew but had a lot of yellowing like yours. I then got a propagator, not a single leaf went yellow, they were perfect.

Alright.....PhatJay and Lit Up......Tomorrow I'm going to the hydro store.......If my little ones come back, it's because of you two......If they don't, it was my own dang fault......Thanks......

Indoor SOG Grow Log......
Went to the hydro shop and started chatting with the owner. Showed him a couple pics ( he's a med card holder too and showed me pics of his current grow, which puts mine to shame ) and he said that I should be fine with keeping up humidity with foliar spray, no nutes just plain Ph'd water. I asked, "are you sure?". And he said that if they didn't, he would give me the dome and tray, I'll take that bet......
Last night when the lights came on I sprayed and each hour since I woke up this morning. I couldn't believe my eyes the last hour because two of the six are showing more growth, sweeeet! Man, it's been so long since my last crop, I've almost forgotten all the little things......
-
Indoor SOG Grow Log......
So happy right now!!!! Now 4 of the 6 are showing really noticeable amounts of new growth. I guess I won't be getting that dome and tray for free anymore, oh well.......
Ok, one very important detail that I left out of the thread on purpose - The roots of the six that were slower to grow than the others were sprinkled with mycorrhizae from Great White Shark when first taken out of the bubbler and placed into soil. I cannot say for sure that this is the reason for the slower growth. Further tests will have to be performed. Reason I tried this was well because I wanted to try the product at this early stage to see what would happen. I think the next time I try this I will only use 2 clones in an attempt to try to determine if this was in fact the culprit to the delayed growth. Could also be a lack of humidity but the other six did just fine so not sure...... Anyone else ever try this????
In order to create an even canopy during the flower phase, I will have to place the taller ones deeper into the pots, when transplanting, moreso than the others.

It's on MoFo's! All 12 are growing!!! I just gave them their first taste of nutes this morning.
Fed: (measurements are per 20 oz of water)
.5ml Fish Mix
.5ml Alg a Mic
.5ml Bio Bloom
.25ml Floralicious Grow
.5ml Cal Mag
.5ml Liquid Karma
.5ml B-1
Came out to just over 500 ppm's. Ph'd water to 6.5. Also foliar feeding using .25ml of Floralicious Grow in 18oz of ph'd water.
So yesterday I was standing there staring at my veg cab, like I usually do, and I started thinking about the 4 cfl light fixture I have 3 hours away from me and how I can't wait to add more light. I started to think, what can I do for now to increase lumens? And then the light over my head came on! It was like AAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!! Duh, cut a piece of black/white poly plastic and create a reflector/hood. I swear, it seems to have doubled the concentration of lumens. I noticed the leaves got phatter overnight.....
3rd pic is the six that were slow to grow. 4th is pic of taller ones getting some LST......
Happy Growing!

Note: These are by far the sexiest six packs of plants I've ever seen!:pimp:
-
Indoor SOG Grow Log......
This morning I was asking my lil ladies why they weren't branching out. They told me they didn't have enough soil to branch out and wanted a new pot with more soil. I had no choice but to oblige.:D
Your plants will talk to you. It's up to you to listen and understand them.
The six packs I had them in were 5.6oz each site. Now they are in 18oz party cups. I know not the best but they work. They will spend the next 10-17 days in these cups before being transplanted to their final 6" pots for flowering.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to be losing one do to the man handling that I did with it. Like a dumbass, I pulled too hard on one of them and seperated it from most of the roots. Like 1/4" roots were left. This one might be back on clone status and not veg. I'm thinking about keeping one as a mother plant. Not sure, cause i've never kept a mother before. I've always just cloned from my clones.
So this is what they currently look like......

Pic 1: Punched out drain holes from the inside to out. Used a phillips head screwdriver.
Pic 2: Placed a layer of perlite on the bottom of the cups. I did this so that moisture isn't retained at the bottom, better drainage.
Pic 3: Removed the clone from the 5.6oz site. Look at those roots!!!!
Pic 4: Put a handful of soil over the layer of perlite, a little over half full. Made a little room and placed the clone into the soil.
Pic 5: Covered with soil.
The taller ones are still getting LST.
Note: I LOVE IT! Who woulda thought plants could be so much fun......

Veg Day 13:
This is what healthy happy plants look like:cool:!!!!
They're going to be here for 7 more days then 12/12 for them...... I'm going to be flowering 10 instead of the 12. 2 of them are going to keep vegging so I can get clones in a couple weeks......

Looking good man. Are you still using the great white? I find it works real good with 1/2 scoop to a gallon of water with 1/2 tsp of molasses , I had roots packed in 16oz cups after ten days. Can't wait to see this after the flip. Peace
-
Indoor SOG Grow Log......
Thank you!
I use the mychorrhizae every transplant. I sprinkle some directly on the roots with a salt shaker. The soil I use has some already in it too. I haven't used it in watering though. I will try mixing with water on the next round. I too can't wait to see how they come out after flipping!!!!
-
Indoor SOG Grow Log......
They got really bushy in the last couple of days. FIM and LST will do this. I FIM'd them on Veg Day 13 and tied them down as well. Days later they look like the pic below. Trunks are getting PHAT too!! These ladies will be going into the flower box after Veg Day 20. I'm going to keep these to a maximum of three colas per plant. After seeing how this strain grows SCROG style, I'm definitely going to minimize the budsites for improved bud production. I might just lollipop them and call it a day, we'll see....
Pic 2 is the one that I had seperated all but 1/4" of roots during transplant. I'm happy to say that it is growing!! So glad I didn't scrap it!! Also I made up my mind, I will be keeping 2 vegging for future clones. So only 10 of the original 14 will make it to the flower box....
Happy Growing!!!!

So yesterday I was scratching my head thinking :wtf:"What was the reason I was wanting to wait until veg day 20?":wtf: "Oh yeah, to get clones from them. But wait :wtf: aren't you going to keep two for clones since they didn't branch out enough in these party cups?:wtf:". Yup so today, I decided to transplant and put them into the flower box. I mean I really feel like I am wasting a 1K with only 2 plants under it. Now I have 12 little ones in there, literally, little......
I removed all but the top three bud sites from each plant. I left the fan leafs though. After remembering what a pain it is to trim lots of small buds, I decided to lollipop these lil ladies.... I keep looking at the ones I have flowering now, scrog style, and I can't help but entertain the thought of how they would look right now if I had lollipopped them. I guess we will find out in a few weeks with these:cool:
So here is my transplanting process for this change from veg to flower:
Pic 1: Placed two handfuls of perlite in each pot to create a layer at the bottom. Shake the pots with only the perlite in before adding the soil. This will shake out all the smallest pieces of perlite and leave the larger pieces.
Pic 2: Placed 3 18oz party cups full of soil into each pot and created an indentation of the cup for placement of the clone, with a modified pot/party cup.
Pic 3: After removing clone from original pot, sprinkled some Great White Shark mychorrhizae, then placed into modified pot, then into soil indentation.
Pic 4: Covered with soil......Watered.....
Pic 5: Placed into flower box and screen placed over for support of the trunks, they're going to need it!!!!

They responded to the light just as they should've. (pic 1) But I realize that they are going to stretch before producing buds so I decided to utilize the screen and train them to stay at that level. (pic 2) I'd really hate for them to bleach as they get closer to the light which is why I'm doing a scrog/sog. I'm still going to limit the bud sites to three max per plant. Now it's just of matter watching them grow......
Happy Growing......
CanGroIt::::::
Side Note: I'm only going to veg for 14 days on the next run......
-
Indoor SOG Grow Log......
And flower production has begun:thumbsup:!!
This turned out to be more of a SCROG than an SOG. Little bit of both. I now know that I need twice the number of plants to pull off a true SOG. One day, one day......
So 2 of them I left with 6 budsites, the rest with 3 and one of them was topped by pulling it too hard by LST on the last week of veg. I am really interested to see how the topped one produces. I figure that I am going to try and top my next set and use the "top" portion to create new clones. So far the topped one appears to be growing great, just like the rest of them but shorter, which is what I want....

Indoor SOG Grow Log......
The tops of these plants are growing at an amazing rate. This should be expected though since all new growth is concentrated at the few nodes that are left. I expect them to grow at least another six to eight inches in height before the swell phase of flowering.
When I first built the stand they are on, it was with the intention of having the screen 24" from the lamp. Now that I have these lollipoping, they are going to get waaaay too close to the light. So I replaced the 24" legs with 18" legs. Now the plant tops are 24" away instead of the 18" where they were.
Flower Cab:
Made with 1/2" OSB board and 2x4's. Dimensions are 4' x 2'-8" x 7' (L x W x H) The top interior 13" of the cab is a cab within itself where the lamp and in-line fan are (pic 2). I lined it with some old carpet that was available. Reduces about 90% fan noise. I'm still working on reducing the wind noise though. Will post that once I get it down......
Happy Growing!!

I like your idea of doing a time lapse set of photos. Their growth during early bloom is so rapid - especially the pics you took from day 7 - 11. I haven't been taking photos of ours, I can see they're growing fast but taking photo's like that it really documents just how quick.
I'm sure your smiling when you walk into the room and all those heads are thickening up

You can bet your sweet patooty I'm smiling every time I check on them:D!! And I'll probably be drooling when harvest time comes....can't wait.....
Yeah, that first two to three week stretch is really something.... I probably won't do it as much now since they are just filling in. Maybe every three days or so...... The only downside to this grow is that they are only half way done. Downer because I'm all out of bud and I really don't want to buy any. I do have three plants of unknown strains that I can pull early to carry me over but trichs are clear and they too are barely half way there.... I'm thinking I will pull them just to make room in the cab for the 12 I have incoming......perpetual:thumbsup:

8 of them are single cola plants. 1 has 3 colas and 1 has 4. Having two growing with more than one apical bud will give me a good indication of which would be a better methog of growing or if their is no difference and method wouldn't matter in the environment I have provided....

Pic 1 is what my flower cab looks like.... The little ones I have in there were vegged for 7 days before being placed in there. Since the larger ones were vegged for 17 days and grew taller than I wanted, I decided to try a 7 day veg to see the difference in final result. I currently have cuttings rooting that I will veg for 12 days, to see what veg time works best for my need....
Even with all these plants, I am still comfortably below my recommended plant count from my physician. Like I mentioned before, I'm an asthematic, and will be cooking with most, if not all, of what I yeild.... I've been looking up recipes and can't wait:eat:....

I read this and had a chuckle from memories of my last weekend. I don't smoke myself and its been a good 7 years or more since I had a puff of pot so I thought I'd make some canna-butter out of the leftovers and fluff buds. It was Friday night and my guy had a mate over (both pretty heavy smokers) so I thought I'd have a go at making some cookies with my new butter. I made Snickerdoodles (lol) an old favourite of mine and completely unknown here. They looked wonderful fresh out of the over so we all tucked into one each. WELL I think I put too much trim in the butter (30 grams into 150g butter) - they were seriously powerful cookies that even the guys were shocked. An hour later I was splat and my head didn't rejoin earth until late sunday lol. Lord I'm such a lightweight :D Needless to say I'm going to halve the trim that Stinky suggests for butter next time and the guys can just eat extra. Thought I'd do Afghan biscuits as my plants are Afghan lol.
Will this be your first time cooking or have you done it before?

I've cooked with it before without reading how to make it properly. Now that I have read how to properly make cannabutter, and how to properly seperate the trichs from the plant material, I believe I will have much better success...
Update: Took Flower Sample....
So it's flower day 42 and I decided last night to take a sample flower to see how production is going.... I decided to take the smallest apical bud and stem from the plant that had 4 apical buds.... It weighed in at 26.6grams wet before trimming.... Weighed in at 18.8grams wet after trimming. So I figure this buds off this branch will weigh 1/3-1/2 the wet weight once dry. 6-9grams from the smallest branch would be cool....
I love the purple:thumbsup:.....

Oh yes! Very pleased!!! Now I feel like my plants are just showing off.....
I'm saving the trim and will be smoking the sample.... I don't think it's enough to go as far as I would like it to so to save money I'm just going to smoke it one hit at a time.... Once after I harvest, I will no doubt have enough to make enough potent edibles to last for a while....

Now they are just gaining weight like:jawdropper:......
They are just leaning which ever way gravity is letting them.... I've tied them but not enough to keep them erect.... After watching them grow at an angle like this, I have noticed huge amounts of growth on the ones that are leaning more than the others. I think the noticeable amount of growth is due to better light covereage over the colas that are growing at like a 45 degree angle....
The nute bottle in the pic is a 32oz bottle....
