I believe it is. Not in the way that the D.A.R.E. program says it is. I think that it is a Gateway drug because of the people you must associate with in order to get pot. They RARELY have access to only pot. Usually, you can get what you want. And if you're not sure, they will even give you a little taste for free!
Once again, I believe that cannabis is a Gateway drug ONLY because of where MOST people have to go to get it.
I believe that's about it.
Its not a gateway drug but the whole experience does turn into a gateway situation.
Then again I could just have too much Vitamin T is my sys to talk bout Vit T...

My first was alcohol as well. Funny the withdrawals you get when your body craves it. I've cut my alcohol consumtion way down, but my cannabis consumption went up. My wife and I are good with that because we think cannabis is less harmful than alcohol.Quote:

in my opinion the gateway theory is bs. yes, weed is the most common first time illegal drug, but what's the next step? coke, acid, shrooms? none of which come close to being like weed in any way shape or form. it's a cognitive thought to want to try something else. this theory is essentially just a way to escape being responsible for ones own children. i mean "my kids wouldn't ever try drugs" etc etc.
i agree with you about caffeine DW. i am still highly addicted to caffeine, but i'm working on it!

^ true, for the record the few times I got offered add on sales was when I used to live in L.A. and would go to the drive thru district in the hood. I would just say no and take my herb and be on my way. probably not really that common for most transactions.

i love weed but never EVER would do anything other. a former weed connect laid out a line of meth once for us both and i kindly told her no. and rolled a joint.
i dont even drink really and when i go to the dentist i ask for non narcotic pain killers because i dont like the feeling of stupor.
weed is as far as i would ever push it.
once i was offered a pcp cigarette. bought it for 20 bucks. i didnt feel comfy smoking it straight so i took out some of the laced tobacco and sprinkled it into a joint. i had the worst trip and sat in the bottom of my bathtub for an hour.
the next day i gave the cigarette and the remaining joint to my friend who loves the stuff, free of charge...i just wanted it out of my house, never to be touched again.

Theres nothing in cannabis that makes you want or crave other harder drugs. It doesnt have chemicals in it that make you want other drugs. Theres no link, it's not a gateway drug. University of pittsburgh did a 12 year study into it. Non biased.
The only gateway part of any drug is the people involved with that drug. Drugs dont talk to you and convince you to try them. The dealers do. They want money. They offer, you accept... bang, you've moved onto harder stuff because you went to buy cannabis... but weed didnt make you do it, the dealer did.
If it was legal and there were no dealers, people wouldnt be offered harder stuff etcetc.
Dealers are the problem, not the plant matter which we all love.

For real. People just have to open their eyes somehow. I think times are even more interesting with spice being added to the equation.
