started it in a peat disc "thing". ground up like 7-8 of em into a cup and that was its home. now its in the earth. i dug a hole roughly the size of a bucket. mixed the dirt from the hole with potting soil i bought at wally world. now i gotta leave in the next few days for about a month. it gets plenty of sunshine. the only problem is the dirt. shitty dirt surrounding my hole. the water table is a hundred or more feet down. its in a run-off area, near a small ravine. im thinking about burying some jugs of water with holes inem to keep the soil from getting too dry...we will see how it turns out:jointsmile:

Look for terracotta in-ground water jugs. You bury it beside the plant, fill it with water and the water leaches from the jug keeping the soil moist. You can also get a product called Soil Moist that expands and holds water up to 400x it's mass. They are a kind of crystalline product. If you go the Soil Moist route do a little research. There are two types - one leaches chemicals that will get into your plant. You want the other one...
You can't post pics here until you post more than 20 times. However, you can post them up on a pic hosting site and link to them in your posts.

Use this:
DriWater, Inc. The Natural Plant, Shrub and Tree Watering Solution - Waters Plants from 30 to 90 Days - Indoor and Outdoor.
I left some for about 3 weeks with this DriWater jelly stuff, and they loved it. When I got back they were healthier than when I left.
Then about 2 weeks later they all got chewed by rabbits.... Go figure.

damn guys sry i havent updated this grow log!
anyway...i came back almost exactally 1 month later and she is a beauty! i measured her at 34". and that was almost a week ago. i measured her again the other day and she was 38". 4" in less than a week seems pretty sweet. ive been looking at her several times a day and hve noticed holes in the leaf. small bugs on her and even small grass hopper things. i flick em off when i see em. i also have been pissing around her and spreading dog hair around her to scare away animals. (the other day i seen a baby dear 10 feet away from her) but shes doin good. im doin it again. u can find pics of her so far in my other threads i cant wait to post em on here.
on a side note ive germinated bout 10 more seeds and bout 8 of em sprouted so i put em in the peat disc things again. same exact method. this time im gonna try different things in different parts of my yard n see what happens! lovin this shit! :stoned::stoned:

to inform yall more AND to get my post count up id like to add that im not gonna do ANYTHING physically to the plant as far as topping, fimming. or LSTing. all natural. just a pot-head seein what happens to be honest. but horticulture is most definatly a growing interest. this site has helped a shit ton!

best of luck with your plants. If you have a few bucks the hardware store sells varmint repellant for under $10.

thanks shovelhandle i briefly checked em out today. passed tho. but i lied im sorry. i am gonna do some LST, not to keep em short, just to expose the innards of the baby. i was tinkering with it today and im sure it would just love the extra light exsposure. im lovin this outdoors shit, i can only imagine when i get 8 foot tall bud trees! :stoned:

What about Agway or even Loews? Manure Humus, peat moss, and perlite. Add fertilizers (worm castings, bat guano, etc.) to your liking and you're done.

Order on line, Amazon has Fox Farms listed,... I dont remember if the cost is comparable or not, but I've got 4 hydro stores within a couple miles, so I haven't had to look for much :D
Good luck with the compost thing, I"m going to get a new pile going this fall for my vegy garden the year after next (used all of my last pile on next years bed)

o yea im sure i could find anything i could ever need online. i could prolly buy other peoples compost piles from ebay haha. i guess im just using as little as i can to get a better understanding of our soil. i mean shit when my plant shows some wierd signs i could find a thread on here and it will let me know what condition is causing it! i got extreme red clay here and i read some places say its got nutrients already n ome say ill need to amend other things into it. i know that most clay natuirally is too tough for root growth so i may just need to til it and add lime or something. :D

leaving it unattended for a month
alrighty then. ive sifted threw the hundred pics i just took and id like to post what ive found.
1. heres the bottom leaf. the only yellow leaf. im guessing old age and bein so close to the ground?
2. looks like chewed spots in the leaf? i found several just like it. some in the middle and some along the edges.
3. some odd lookin shot-gun spread holes.
now for the bugs i found
4. this one is interesting. u can see the leaves curled inward due to the web. i read all spiders are predators, so im guessing its ok?
5. a leaf lookin bug. its got some wicked orange swirls on its back/wings. im thinkin this guy is an asshole.
please any ideas as to what these problems might be? i might not be able to do much but it doesnt hurt to knwo how to prevent/cure these problems. thanks for watching!! :stoned:

I see what looks like minor thrip damage/ possible mite damage, the larger holes are probably grasshoppers or caterpillars. Let the spider be, it'll help with the actual pests. As for the bugs on the top, the pic is a bit too out of focus to tell,.... how big are they?
Did you get any pics of the suspect preflower growth?
-
leaving it unattended for a month
yea grasshoppers are all over this thing haha. the pic thats out of focus (damn autofocus, no manual) its about a quarter inch. and yes here is the "preflower' growths. im paranoid its a herm but im thinkin its still a bit early to tell.

I'm not seeing any hairs,... ( at least nothing I can be certain are hairs) but LOTS of sacks,... it's male. Healthy too,... you done good but I'm afraid you struck out on this one. :(
If you are getting hairs as well as the sacks the plant isn't herm, it's Asexual.
Difference being a herm will grow one hair and one nanner out of the same flower, an asexual plant will make full complete flowers of both gender each being all male or female. It's a genetic trait that will cause Asexuality, whereas Herming can be caused by environmental stresses.

its definatly got pistols. and it also looks like developing pollen sacks. lots of small growths on the innards of the plant was makin me think female, i thought males were skinnier without so much veg growth goin on. meh ill give "it" another thurough lookin at in the morning. im definatly in denial.

well if its a male.....ill boil it down and see if it does anything. i read everywhere that males have no THC but then i read they do but way less....at least i kno MJ can and will survive here in this particular soil without any help really....
id like to thank everybody that helped me learn more
its not over yet....

If it is a male try and be considerate of any other outdoor growers within a few miles of you and cull it!!!!!!
I'm a newb to growing myself and am still working on perfecting my grow but I know that I (personally) don't have any males in my back yard, so if my outdoor plant has seeds I'm gonna be pissed!!!!
Just a matter of respecting the growers that "might" be around you. ;)

yea i hear ya on that. very unlikely anyone near me is growing. BUT if they were and mine was a male, i suppose it would be best to chop it up for mulch or it could pollinate and alert others of nearby operations......man im paranoid now.
i know im breaking one of the MJ growers golden rule by letting it live, but i gotta see how it goes. maybe its herm. ive only invested $20 and stoned time, plus the knowledge seems priceless.
