Waller from the springs talks about the struggle to get the bill passed. His ignorance really shows when talking about felons and mmj. What the hell? I still do not get the felon issue if it only applies to the second class felon, you know the ones that are being discriminated against!
I have a marijuana felony(12 years old, possession of a pound) and I just built a business from scratch after going through a bankruptcy. A very good business I have paid over $60,000.00 in sales tax to the State in the last year but now I cannot be trusted to do so. Because now of this representatives whims I am put out of business and told to go back to second class jobs, is this really helping me rebuild my life sir? The State forcing me out of business how is this just. The State Constitution says once a Felon has completely discharged their sentence all rights as a citizen of Colorado are restored to them. The only amendment to that is that they cannot carry a firearm after the Brady Bill was passed. Before the Brady bill they could even carry guns. Thank God they have not taken away our right to vote yet. All you Conservatives, libertarians, constitutionalists where are you, why are you letting this happen to small business? Is it because it goes against your moral compass? it's funny how many of you look away when the rights of others are trampled, but cry out when you are attacked. Exactly Mark, that is how I see it. You did your crime, you paid your dime and time. Now why should you or any felon be prohibited from living and working like anybody else. And if I recollect, isn't only felons of drug related crimes that are prohibited? What about the other felons for crimes against people? I wouldn??t say I had a good feeling, and I??ll tell you: I would??ve been just fine if it had failed. Again, a couple issues here: I think first and foremost, I can??t help but feel that by voting on this, we??re in some way endorsing ?? and obviously we are endorsing ?? the dispensary model. Is that appropriate? I mean, I don??t think that??s what the voters called for in 2000 when they passed the medical marijuana amendment, Amendment 20. I don??t think they conceived, at all, of this dispensary model. So now we??re creating something that??s not constitutional that opens up access to marijuana.
People say, ??We should just legalize it and be done with it and call it good.? You know, I??m not that guy ?? I don??t believe that. We heard a lot of testimony of the effects of marijuana on the developing brain, and there??s some pretty horrific impacts associated with the effects of marijuana on the developing brain, and by the way, your brain??s not fully developed until you??re in your early 20s. And now we??re hearing that access has really opened up to kids in high schools because of the availability of marijuana, because of all these dispensaries that are around.
Pretty sketchy people? there are sketchy people in all walks of life. Look at all the cases of misconduct by the fucking lawmakers themselves. Tax evasion by the Chair of the ways and means committee Mr. Rangel, or the good representative fro Louisianna that had oodles and oodles of cash in his freezer, any of the citizens that these sons a bitches dictate life to would be in prison for the same shit, hell even a sitting president lied to congress about his blowjob, ( and I like Clinton, but not his lies ) But you get busted for some marijuana 12 years ago, pay your dues and still get jammed. Good luck to you on this never ending uphill struggle.

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard something about there being a limitation on that of 2-3 years. I still haven't read the final bill tho (bad patient, bad, bad patient)

Shock waves are still reverberating through the medical marijuana community after more than half-a-dozen growing operations were raided by the Colorado Springs Metro Vice unit on Wednesday.
Police served seven warrants, claiming they were all illegal growing operations, reports 11 News.
All seven were growing operations and not storefront dispensaries, according to police spokesman Sgt. Steve Noblitt.
Police said they seized evidence of what they claim is illegally grown marijuana, and will be turning the evidence over to the District Attorney's office. Authorities said they are also investigating if and how the grow operations might be connected to dispensaries.
No arrests were made, according to Sgt. B. Poole of the region's Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence Squad, reports Joel Millman at the The Colorado Springs Gazette.
"People are concerned if they're going to be next to be raided, if their doors are going to be kicked in in the middle of the night, that type of thing," said Clifton Black, a Colorado Springs attorney who said none of his existing clients were targeted by the searches.
"They're worried about their patients, if they're going to be able to provide medicine to the patients," Black said.
The raids were conducted one day after the Colorado Legislature gave its final approval to a bill regulating medical marijuana dispensaries in the state. Police claim the timing was a coincidence and that the searches had nothing to do with the bill's passage into law.
Tanya Garduno, president of the Colorado Springs Medical Cannabis Council, said she suspected 4th Judicial District Attorney Dan May, a vocal critic of dispensaries, had a hand in the searches being conducted so soon after lawmakers approved the new rules.
"It was all pretty ridiculous," one dispensary owner said. "There were 60 plants there and I think they thought they were going to find thousands. The sergeant in charge let it slip that Dan May had pushed for the searches."
Spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh denied that District Attorney May played a role in the searches, claiming the D.A.'s office only becomes involved if someone is arrested.
The Obama Administration released its National Drug Control Strategy on Tuesday, claiming it represents a "balanced new approach" to drug policy that focuses on treatment over enforcement.
However, a group of police officers who support legalization is pointing out that despite the administration's words, the drug budget dedicates nearly twice as much funding to policing and enforcement as it does to public health and prevention, virtually the same ratio as the previous budget under President Bush.
"The Drug Czar is saying all the right things about ending the 'War On Drugs' and enacting a long-overdue balanced strategy focused on a public health approach," said Neill Franklin, a former Baltimore cop and incoming executive director of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP).
