You could really use a 600w air cooled for starters, check ebay theres a lot of cheap ones out there. I used the $29 "recipe for success" technaflora nutrient package and had pretty good results. A centrifugal fan is also needed, or co2 enrichment. The CFL's you have won't produce much meds at all.

Ok whats the 600 w air cooled for....im growing on a budget so im trying to do it without spending alot of money.,,,is there a ulternative to the 600w air cooled...im in the process of getting a fan as we speak...can any fan do or do i need a certain one...cause i was looking at a mini desk that had multiple speeds.....
ok so what do u recommend for light on a budget i was planning to add more two more lights.....the bulbs i have are CFL 1600 lumens 6500k..would that help or what lights should i get for the veg stage...i should also state that im switching the lights when its comes to flowering...(im building a seperate room for flowering this room is just for veging..)

Don't take this the wrong way, but the best thing for you to do is hit the library. Get yourself a nice intimidating book specifically about indoor cultivation, make sure it's full of graphs and diagrams that you don't understand - then read it two or three times until you realize you understand what all those graphs and diagrams were all about.
Florescent lights are blinking on and off like a super fast strobe light at fifty or sixty cycles a second - way too fast for humans to notice, but the plants do. As far as those plants can tell, the florescent lights are only on for barely half of the time they appear to be on. That can be fine when you're working with seedlings or little cuttings that can't take in much light, but big plants need something that provides the proper light spectrum at the proper intensity level, and that can be a tricky thing to get just right if you aren't sure what (biologically) you're trying to accomplish.
I am by no means calling you dumb, but I think it sounds like you would greatly benefit from studying up on how plants use the different resources available to build and maintain themselves. Chlorophyll uses different frequencies of light better than others, and these different color spectrums tell the plant different things about what kind of environment they are in and when they should be doing what.
I have no doubt that the folks here could help you design a kick-ass setup, but you'll get a lot more out of it (figuratively and literally) if you study up on the biology behind the various needs of these living beings you have in your care. Wikibooks has a nice collection of free online "text-books" related to horticulture, as well as some talking about marijuana specifically. I'm sure the other folks here could suggest some good reading as well.
Oh, and if you would like some more help you should let us know what the specific dimensions of your closet are and whether you could run ventilation ducting into it to bring in fresh air (carbon dioxide - it's what the plants use to get the carbon they build their bodies out of) and take out the heat out from the real grow lights you're going to need. Also, are you planning on only using one space and budding every plant you have, or are you going to want a space for summer light timing (moms in "vegg cycle") and a space with fall light timing ("bud cycle")?
Keep in mind that this is your first time - you need to prepare yourself for the fact that you are probably going to get more experience out of this attempt than medicine. Good luck and be patient!!
EDIT: I got my Hz cycles wrong. Florescent lights work at 100-120Hz, not 50 or 60 as I said earlier - the same principal applies: on for half the time and off for half the time, too fast for human eyes to notice the off periods.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVICE...WILL LOOK INTO SOME BOOKS. if u know of any that would save me some time.... im currently building a separate closet just for budding...so this closet is just for veging.... yes i can run a ventilation duct....now with the problems with the light..i bought the cfl daylight lights(is that the same as florescent) cause someone said on this forum that they would work for the veging....im buying a seperate more expensive grow light for the buding stage...Picture included.....
what lights would u recommend me getting for the veging??thanks for the help...

This is one of the many I've been looking at. Being a magnetic ballast makes it a bit louder then a digital, but much cheaper and rebuildable.
As for Veg-ing under CFL's I've seen many pics of successful grows this way. Issue is once it reaches a certain size and the light just can't be close enough to the entire thing. You'll want to move to flower. As for which CFLs, Go with a mix of 2700K (lots of red) and as high as you can get 5500k or 6500K (for lots of blue). The higher the wattage the better. Our girls like lots of blue spectrum light to produce foliage.
How big is this flowering closet going to be? Must be a walk in? :D
New Grower New to forum Help apreciated..
yeah its going to be barely walk in......ok so i can use the dfls then...cause im running 6500k...
loudness doesnt matter so that is a god flowering light?

Depending on the closets size, you may be capable of dropping to the 400w. Since we don't know the demensions I can't really say. But that is a good light. You might consider upgrading the bulb on your next buy too. As that one is just OK.

I dont exactly no dimensions but its 23 inches tall and 25 inches long.....ok so what would be a good upgrade from the 1600 lumens 6500k cfl daylight light i have 4 of them now....but if theres a better one id prefer to get that

Those cfls are good to veg with, if i were you i might get them as close as possible and use an osculating fan to help with heat. A lot of people grow with cfl's through a entire grow, but for a good one, they use a ton of them.
Vancefish is asking what size of room you are going to flower in, because you ask if that light in the picture would work. The size of the flower room and or growing space, determines if the light you want will work for you. There is a standard of watts to space to your expected amount of yield:thumbsup:not to mention the amount of plants.
But then theres experience and many other issues. If i where you i would read some grow logs and the sticky's. Id read in the lighting section to understand how light makes your plants grow. Keep it simple and dont get ahead of yourself, cuz i know from experience, its easy to do:thumbsup:
Good luck :weedpoke::rasta:

Look in cabinet and closet growing. There of plenty of cabs that can be made for cheap. Or, maybe you could check out a grow tent. Im no expert so you need to read the lighting section, to better understand how light works. Did i say this, yeah i did, please read lighting section. There you will find your answer:thumbsup:
