Colorado Alternative Medicine - Dispensary Review Thread

Man, I stopped in on this place earlier today and it was really one of my best experiences. I finally got some fire... this AK-47! That was better than anything I picked up in Nederland/THC/Botanic Labs. I tried Botanic Labs AK-47 and this blows it away. Just nice killer odor and taste... opened the jar and the room filled up with pungent scent.. smelled like some sort of cleaner. Then they had some Jack's Cleaner on the jar and I could barely smell it when I opened the jar. Both great genetics... goes to show that the grower's skill plays the major part in good buds and GREAT buds.

They had a couple other good strains, but I didn't have too much trouble making up my mind. The purple urkel looked really nice so I sampled that as well. Very tasty smoke... seems pretty potent. Also picked up some Sour D which is really good. I think best Sour D I've had yet... comparable to the Double Diesel I got at Delta-9. The other strains were pretty good. I think the AK was definitely a step above anything else in there. The Urkel is really nice.

It's really nice to see this quality at a $50 cap. That's where I'm going to start drawing my line. That's what I'd paid before and I've gone crazy in all the dispensaries lately just paying whatever to try new strains. From now on I'm coming here primarily since I think they offer me a fairer price. I'd also liked Delta-9, but I'll probably come here more often because they're cheaper.

I did get the impression that these guys weren't super knowledgeable. I asked the budtender if the Purple Urkel was the clone-only strain from California. I didn't know if it was the same as "the urkel" clone legend... it looked reallly good. He looked at me with a blank stare. Then the woman who owns the place, who was just kinda floating around talking with everyone, told me that all strains come from a seed. I'm pretty sure there are strains that are funky phenotypes that are clone-only. Maybe it was semantics. Also, the budtender should lay off the buds. I said I want this, this, and this. He finished getting one packaged up and said, "is that all?". No, I said I also want this and this, putting the jars right in front of his face. Packages up number two and then just kinda stares at me and then says, "is that all?". C'mon dude... are you fuckin' kiddin' me!! Oh well, there was a lot of shit going on I guess.

This place has easily become one of my favorites because of quality for the cost.

My favorite too. That AK is by far one of the best I have EVER smoked. That must be a new batch of Jacks Cleaner cuz the one I had (month ago?) was STANK-EEEE! Rarely see the Jacks around here. They had some sour dream that was amazing. They charge $50 all 1/8th no tax cep for the sour d but honestly I've never even messed with it cuz there are so many other fire nugs. They never rush you. Dude with the glasses (I forgot his name) is the owner I think (along with the front desk chick) and yeah he seems higher than me sometimes! Took a couple of visits for him to warm up to me but the other guy with the beanie knows his stuff. And front desk chick is real friendly.
Overall, C.A.M. gets the King Minus thumbs up. Word!

There's some Jack Flash going around that's really good too... I had some good JF at ReLeaf Center and I think in the "Best Buds" thread somebody mentioned some at Grasshopper too.

I thought that CAM was pretty decent. Had better, but I've had far worse. Sampled their Pink Maui, Sour D, and AK-47. All 3 neared the A- range for me.

I've also had better, but I think these guys are offering $50 eighths, while other dispensaries are offering $55 eighth usually with tax on top of that! So these get the thumbs up from me!
The AK-47 wasn't grown by them so I'm guessing you had another batch by another grower... that's a fairly popular strain and I think they carry a lot of vendor strains.

If you are interested in the sour diesel, make sure you ask if it is grown by them. The one they grow is the best example of sour diesel I've sampled in a shop so far. The sell some from other vendors though for the same price that is not nearly as good. :rastasmoke:

Also, their clones have great vigor! Best yet in a shop as well! :D

Yeah, I noticed that the Sour D was a bit compressed and looked like it probably came from a vendor...

I popped in yesterday to CAM and Anna hooked me up large! Nearly 3 grams for $20! What a lovely gal. I got Sour Dream, Blue Dream, Cali Mist, and Lemon Haze. I've only had the Cali Mist because its probably my favorite strain.

I was told to look out for 3 strains coming out this week: K1, K2, and Durban Poison.

The Cali Mist is your favorite from CAM or favorite strain period?

One of my favorite strains. Its a very clear-headed and cerebral high with a lot of auditory enhancement. I really have a fun time on it, especially when I smoke a couple bowls- it brings out the body high and makes me feel like I'm underwater. Very social, as well.

I've had K2 and K1 from them a few times and they are SUPER FIRE (both)!
Their AK was good for me too (did I mention the Grape Ape? omg)

I was up there today. I got 1/8 of the cali mist, and a gram of the blue cheese. Compared to the other dispensaries I've been to, I liked CAM a lot. Clean, comfortable, and I didn't feel any pressure to be quick while I was at the counter. Anna was a cutie, and totally cool. I was paying too much attention to her and not listening to what she was saying, which made me spend most of my time looking at sativas. I actually wanted to find a good sleepy time indica. Next visit for sure.

Haven't smoked any of this yet, and I'm not a real sophisticated guy yet when it comes to the subtle differences in various buds. But I'll give it my best smoke, and provide my most sincere feedback.

I liked this place. It's not too far from my house, and I wasn't uncomfortable. For me persnoally, that speaks volumes about the operation. I will most certainly be back

I was going to post the same thing but didn't want to be called out for chauvinism...

Went to CAM today, a LONG ride for me. I only got a couple of grams as funds are tight until I get paid later this week. The place is clean, good parking, classy setup. The buds all looked great. I liked that you picked up the jars and they had a nice magnifying glass mounted on the case so you could check stuff out. I went with the Banana (genetics unknown) and the Dutch treat, and both are good stuff. Honestly though, for the price (and the drive, and least in my case) I wasn't real impressed at $20 a gram.

HOWEVER, I do plan to head back this weekend and grab some of their fire strains, K1, K2, and that AK, which looked NICE!

The buds were all very nice looking, top quality stuff for sure, and at $50, not badly priced. No girl today, just the owners, who seemed nice enough.

I'll be sure to come back after I try their top stuff out.

I guess my conclusion on CAM is that their strains aren't the most pungent or pretty looking, but I've always gotten strains that were 9/10 or 9.5/10 for me. Nothing to complain about, for sure.

^Yeah, it's starting to get old for me to review quality.

I find most of the dispensaries that we review on here (and I think people on here seem to hit the ones with good reputations) have pretty similar quality buds. They are all what I would call average specimens of high-quality buds. I think you do find the occasional gem in the dispensaries that is a great specimen of top-quality nugs....

I also want to get into CAM to get some K1/K2 though...

I agree. I mean, how far can you take something? Good herb is good herb! For me, I just want a boatload of Cantaloupe Haze and to find a bomb indica (where o where art thou?) and I will be good to go :rasta:

Steve, you gotta make it up to THC. They're bound to have a good indica in there. Look at Strainman's review. They had a White Widow that they harvested late with primarily amber trichomes... sounded pretty stoney.

Alright, went back to CAM today to sample their Durban Poison and picked up a tiny bit of G-13 that should be out in the next day or two. They had some yummy looking strains in the back.

Anyhow, Anna told me she read this thread...how embarrassing!

Went to CAM today. Durban Poison FIRE and one of my favs - Grape Ape! The K1 and K2 I was told aren't as bomb as usual but the Spicey Jack(?) is real good and of course the AK is fire as always. Word! No Anna tho.

I did hear that grape ape was amazing. I'll have to go get some. It's a sativa though, no?

Hey there- so first of all I want to say thank you to all the very nice comments and reviews on CAM. My name is Anna, aka owner of CAM, front desk chick, 8 yr grower, IT consultant and all around pretty laid back girl that does wear leotards. I just had a few things to say...

1. I completely agree that the majority of dispensary's out there are out of thier minds selling $ 65 eights plus tax. We cap at 50 and have many $ 40 strains.

2. For my new friend lampost, I agree at times I can be a bit of a social btterfly, but I am pretty sure I said most strains come from seed and your right there are many funky phenotypes that are clone only- i.e. chemdawg4- a clone we actually carry. The P. Urkel we have is grown from clone in buckets in coco as a medium... P Urkel or Humbolt Purple has been growing in S Humbolt county since 1989. The mendo cats are responsible for renaming it "Lavender" among several other names...
Yes, every once in a while our store manager may over medicate, but I have to say my memory is crystal clear and he is on of the most knowledgeable people I know :) and I am sorry you had to repeat yourself like 8 times. Plus we love constructive criticsm at CAM and we are trying to keep it real so I appreciate your compliments.

3. We keep 85% of our herb in house- IE if its not ours its friends of ours. Dont get me wrong, I have 18-25 folks a day trying to sell me blueberries, insurance and security. Also, vendors and vendors alike can we have some standards of curing, trimming, flushing green crack is not supposed to actually crackle)?? I treat vendors just like I would like to be treated;

4. I wouldnt say I dont have any knowledge- but I am ALWAYS learning - especially in the area of cultivation. After a 4 great years of soil, 3 years of tubs and trays and GH, followed by a 3 year hiatus I have settled on buckets, House & Garden.

5. Lastly, as a brand new joint we want to keep getting better and having better product at fair prices- so we love the recommendations. ps every gurl loves to hear they loook good in or outta leotards- even if they are engaged to the budtender.

CAM is very exceptional.

The best strains I've gotten from there are K1,Lemon Haze,OG Kush,Sour D,NYCD and Jacks Cleaner.But the batch of Jacks Cleaner they have now is not the same or as good as the one they had back in late November/early December.The OG always seems to sell out fast as well.The kief they have is the best I've had from any dispensary

Now that I think about it I've never been disappointed with bud I've gotten there and I've tried at least 20 of their strains.Plus add in that the cap is $50 on all strains but one and you have something that is going to be hard for other dispensarys to beat.

But,I do believe they are a little unknowledgeable as well,cause the only time I was ever disappointed with them is when I was sold what was supposed to be bubble hash.I didn't check the contents til I got home and it turned out to be pressed hash.Not that big of a deal cause it was still good,but I much rather would of preferred some Bubble.

Overall I'd give CAM a solid A-.

So... what do you call bubble hash that you send through a press? Any hash -maker worth their salt should be pressing it irregardless of whether they used "bubble bags" and ice water or a drum to get some dry kif to press.

Did it bubble when you held a flame to it? If so, doesn't matter how it was made, should qualify as bubble IMO.

I say this cause I feel the folks at C.A.M. have not said a word inaccurate to me.... most shops claim they know somethin, but if you test em they fail... Anna passed easily, showing true intimate, long-term handling knowledge of the medicine.

I should of clarified it did not bubble,I was able to crush it and it burnt like kief.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. That was the tastiest "urkel" I've had so I was just wondering if it was really the Lavender cut... very dense nugs.

Just got back home from CAM...

Picked up some Bubba Kush,GUM,G-13 and AK

The AK was good but not fire like some of you have said in this thread,don't know if I got the same batch or not.

Bubba Kush was solid but I've personally have had better.

The GUM and G-13 I couldn't be happier with. Both out of this world.

Especially the GUM,it might possibly be the best weed I've ever got from a dispensary.

i'll eventually find some g-13 to try. eventually. was that gum indica or a mix or did it say?

The Gum was on the indica side of the of the table didn't ask the percentage tho.

I did ask the genetics and they were unknown.

CAM is my fav spot hands down. The $50 cap including tax for top shelf meds is great.

Some of my fav strains: K2, Maui, AK-47, G-13, Dynamite have all been super fire. Also enjoyed the Dutch treat, sage, OG KUsh, Kandy Kush and banana. Anna and Jacob always take care of me and last time Anna busted out some special K2 from the behind the counter that was amazing!

The set up is great as well with indica and sativa dominant strains seperated on different counters. No asking to see each jar either from under a counter, you get to check out each jar on your own.
