I do and will explain why if i see much interest in this post.
i hope they like sex
I don't personally think thats likely, but I'm interested in hearing what you have to say on the matter, hemp.
I think its more likely we'll replace more and more of our organs and functions(in our body) with machines and thus become the machines ourselves. But hey its all speculation so why not?
ok so my thought is on Artificial intelligence. First one must define intelligence. The ability to synthesize new information without it being programmed previously is my interpretation on the definition of intelligence ( in a human aspect intelligence is far different from comprehension. cpu's nowadays comprehend). If something can synthesize new information than why can't it sythesze the thought that it may be able to have all the power in the world. Or maybe synthesize the idea that in order for the robots to survive, humans need to stop fucking up our earth and causing to much waste so therefore, take out the humans.
Sony incorporated has a new robot named curio that it is in the early stages of production on. The robot is able to search the internet for new knowledge. Is this not intelligence since the internet is a constant sourse of synthesis? From ourselves???
Curio drops soon. Too soon.
do a google on Curio and see what you find. Hopefully I'm not spelling it wrong.
Thats an interesting point. I guess maybe your right, what would stop them from forming human thoughts and emotions (i.e. greed and power-hunger). By the looks of it though we are not going to see that level of intelligence in our lifetimes, so I am not overly worried. Maybe we can make the robots susceptible to THC? :D Then there will be no need for celebration, just plenty of Doritos.
Anyone else have thoughts on this subject?
I suppose as soon as we program them to feel the need to preserve their own life, we have pretty much fucked our proverbial asses.
A slong as they dont get into my stash its all kool! :D But i honeslty think our population relies too much on machinery and technology so yes robots are taking over
yea stedric you rock man. that was a great response!! but unfortunately.... robots don't have lungs....:(. However, on a more serious note, you say that we won't see tht kinda intelligence in our liftimes? Well guess what the average number of years between the publics present technology and the governments.
SEVEN. That means that seven years ago, some fuckhead was playing around with a camera phone or something much more extravagent (i'm high as gas and just watched terminator 3 if this explains something).
That is a scary fact for me. tht means that whatever we have right now to dick around with and marvel at the govt knew about it seven years ago.
Machines could evolve into sentient entities in the future. Maybe its only a natural process for steel to replace flesh..circuits to replace veins..
highways to replace fields....
complexity. it's the natural way of evolution.
simple doesn't count for anything anymore.
You are so fucking stoned.
yea... you're exactly right. tomorrow i'm gonna read this and be like holy shit....
Yes, yes hemp they will. : )
A lot of people are acting like robots these days. You see it in management; where you used to interact face to face with different levels of supervision, now some isolated creep in a little ivory tower office sits on his ass all day, plays with the keys, and thinks he's a captain of industry. It used to be about leadership, now it's about numbers. No sense, no sensitivity. As little contact with people as possible, the more programable machines the better. Skill and craftsmanship are a dying concept. Screw artificial intelligence, how about artificial common sense? Human Resource Directors are among the most inhuman individuals I can think of.
It's like any other tool; lose your grip and it ends up controlling you. The more lazy people are and the more willing to give up their individuality for a little comfort they (we) become, the more likely that Terminator scenario is to becoming reality. I remember when calculators were rare; you did a lot of math in your head or on a scrap of paper. Now that we push buttons all the time, there's a whole generation coming up that can't even divide 12 by 5 without a gadget to tell them the answer. That's a lot of power to give up to the machines. When/if sentient artificial life becomes a reality, if it isn't already, we'll go down like pigs in a slaughterhouse if they decide we're in the way. No doubt it'll be a logical move for them, since they were programed by some Human Resources Specialist without a soul.
diatribe ends.
"Open pod bay door B, Hal."
"I'm sorry Dave, I can't do that".
Tom
Hey Stedric , imagine getting baked with your computer. "Hey man, Yeah Sted man gimme some DOH REET TOHS...just slip them in the floppy....., MMMMM damn thats good, Hey you wanna see me calculate pi, we(robots) figured it out and havent decided on whether to tell you softies yet".
ITS SKYNET......
I KEEP TRYIN TO TELL EM BUT THEY WONT LISTEN
THE MACHINES....THEY JUST GOT SMARTER...
ITS GONNA KILL YOU ALL
THATS WHAT IT DOES
AND IT WILL NOT STOP UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD
Jesus will one day return unto us.. and we gotta be DAMN READY FOR HIM!
*chick chock*
Grab the sandbags, boys, we got us a got-damn turkey shoot!
You mean the robots havent already taken over?
What the hell are they waiting for?
ok yea so i was pretty high... but, "sampson, i stick by my story!!!"
Yes, I think if humanity continues to do research into artificial technology we will make machines that are hardier and smarter than ourselves and we will be weeded out through natural selection. I think that just because a technology is possible doesn't mean we need it, especially in cases like this where the potential consequences include the extinction of our species. Better to stop research now while artificial intelligence is still unintelligent.
Nothing could ever replace a human brain. I don't think something could be built that thinks it's own thoughts, nothing artificial could do that. There are robots that are able to do what humans can do such as build things but that's because they've been programmed, they couldn't have their own random thoughts and go and do what they wanted. It's a scary thought though.
If the human brain is nothing but a bunch of chemicals, why couldn't a computer simulate all those chemical processes? It seems perfectly possible to me. It's just a good thing that we have virtually no clue about how thought and consciousness arise from all those chemicals and all our current AIs are just really complicated scripts. I'd like to believe that what makes us humans unique is some supernatural "soul", but I see no evidence for that and fear that a sufficiently complicated script might be able to replicate our behavior.

were screwed!!!! oh and it's supposed to happen in 2012.
actualy i was thinking on making a computer with a partical decetor capable of knowing the amount of THC in the air, thus playing the aporpiate music and visualisationsQuote:
