autoflowering question-will putting them on 12/12 make any difference

Hi im just about to start some feminised white dwarf seeds and i was just wondering instead of having them 18/6 light period would it affect the end yield or plant if i put them in with my other plants on 12/12 cycle. Cant find much info. Anything will be gratefull:rastasmoke:

This is a link to pedro de pacas thread, you should ask him about the straight 12/12 cycle as he has experienced with it. I'm sure he'll lend a hand to help you out with some questions!! This thread is also him doing a 12/12 cycle from seedling

Hello! I'm growing 2 fem white dwarfs myself and so far so good. Check out my log in the Grow Log section. I think treating them like any other grow is a good idea. I'm starting them at 24/0, then going 20/4, 18/6 and the last 2-3 weeks at 12/12. Good luck and maybe post a log so we can compare our results .:hippy:

Growing auto flowers with 12/12 will work but you will get a smaler yield from them.

I have a larger yeild with 16/8 myself but thats with lowryder #1

autoflowering ruderalis commences flowering, due to it's age, not light hours ...

Which would be best for these strains then, 6500K Veg spectrum bulbs or the 4000 and lower FLower spectrum bulbs? Or maybe half and half?

I like to use a mix of both not quite 50/50 I tend to be heavier on the 6500k blue light.

true yes, but the op is askin if it would be detrimental to his af's under 12/12 with his normal flowering plants, which would result in a smaller yield

tossing them in the trash would be best so we don't pollute the gene pool and
loose all control. how would you like it if autofloweing seeds was all there was?

rather than opting for genocide, dya think mibi we could come up with a solution that keeps everyone happy? i mean, there's gotta be a way that you could tese out the appropriate genes, and/or switch off the auto in the autos.

though trying to get those who dont have any need for autoflowering to understand the need for autoflowering that some people have, is like banging your head of a rock to get IT to bleed, at least you dont see fans of auto flowering trying to create a genocide of non-auto strains. :P know what i'm sayin?

and besides, it such a rediculous thing to be scared of.

when the non-autos out in nature are flowering, if the boys are around, just ONE of those plants if left to grow naturally will be putting out a few dozen times more pollen than the autos, and much higher up so better to catch the wind with.

kinda explains why nature has provisioned us with non-auto strains as the mainstay huh?

think we can get rid of the fear inspired genocidal urges toward autos yet?

autos are not the threat to the genepool of quality herb as some folks like to suggest.
hybridisation is a bigger threat... at least if you like either indica or sativa.
but still... no need for the genocide i dont think.


to the original question....
if they are assuredly auto, then stick them in as much light as you can. giving them at least some night time to rest does seem to really help. anywhere between 18/6 and 24/0 seems to get folks reporting higher results.

i hate to destroy your illusions my man but the truth is, auto-flowering strains
are all hybrids created by seedmakers trying to make a buck and they really are
a threat to the gene pool.

the auto-flowering trait comes from Ruderalis genes, which come from Russia
i believe. also, Ruderalis has no medicinal value at all.

if we loose the photo-periodic quality we loose all control, then it'll just be one
seed, one plant, no clones, no SOG's, no control.

no, i say, kill 'em all!

how big are the plants ?. for the first 3/4 week 24/7 will not hurt the plants. but the 12/12 will stunt the plants from growing as fast as they would. if your plants are seeds/ starters. you might thank of makeing a green grow box, just for them, you want need as much light. pipper:thumbsup:
