All for change...but not too much?
Hello all, I'm lucky enough to be able to view the American elections from a safer view here in Europe! I'd like to share some views with you friends.
Now, George Bush Snr. has already publicly backed John McCain.
John McCain is nearly 100% carbon copy of *hitler*cough* excuse me, George BushEither! So that makes sense I suppose, if war and empire if your thing, shit on everyone else, go for it!
So, just speaking as an onlooker, your options look extremely restricted over there. It's like the candidates wade through this soap opera authored by the creator of all 'buzz' words.
I mean, if one of them was able to really answer questions, instead of just being able to make the masses clap, which they were there to do anyway, they'd win by a landslide!
It seems ridiculous how long the American people have let it go on, war after war after war. Not only is it crippling America (Health, Education, Pub. Housing, etc.) but it's killed...I dont even want to think how many people since the countrys birth. All for horrid, terrible reasons which they lied about. At all times.
All new presidents say they're for change, it seems they get shot if they really mean it.
Maybe the American people voting for change should realise it's their country to change.
If a man wears a suit and make-up, he wants you to think he's someone different to who he is.

smudgey i agree with lots of your post. IT is a sad state of affairs. One thing i am not sure of though is if it would do any good to ac tually give thought out answers to some of the big questions. Here's why.
You can see it on this site. The two parties are so polarized that for most people it does not matter what the answers are. They are criticizing no matter what the answers. They're weak points to every plan, and putting the plan out too early gives the other side the chance to twist it, distort it, frame it out of context....
The problem is the polarization of the masses and the parties. People forget that this is ONE country. whole lot of brainwashing going on!

You don't live here. I don't know if you have in the past, but you don't right now. Therefore, I do not take your opinion into account, as it is irrelevant.

I absolutely take your opinion into account. How the world perceives the United States is in fact important. Lots of our problems stem from the fact that a significant portion of the world thinks of us as war mongers. I have traveled through South East Asia and was treated with nothing but kindness, but also learned of how lots of folks consider our government to be resource whores, and just plain evil.
this world is seemingly smaller everyday, opinions matter, we all have them.

You're a 100% correct. They always like to through that word change around. There will be no change for the next 4 years. And I would personally like to apologize to you foreigners for making such a mess of this planet. Its bad enough we have our own country royally screwed up but that we have to go screw everybody else's country too.
I wish I knew what the answer is but I don't. America is just going to continue down this path of self destruction till its all gone. Our forefathers are rolling in the grave.

Thank you people for not getting offended!
I would like to make it clear I think America is a beautiful country and it has the potential the be the best country in the world, the heights it could rise to are endless.
I believe it will reach these heights in the near future too but that's a different topic ;)
I was using America as an example DaBuddhaStank, if you want to show someone what red looks like you show them the most obviously red thing you can find, didnt mean to offend. The rest of the Western world is a deep, deep orange! My opinion counts a huge amount though, as does yours.

This whole left/right thing is very damaging I think, it's one side against the other. There is far too much of that coming with capatilism.
So even if the 'left' win, the right wont help their cause so only half (huge exageration) the country is helping out.
Obama has said he wants to go into Pakistan after Osama Bin Laden.
Bush wanted to go into Afghanistan 7 years ago after Osama Bin Laden
McCain wants to stay on where they are and probably more.
WAR IS INSANE! Imagine it man, Jah, it doesnt bare thinking about.
Obama wont stop wars, he'll start them.
Bush is a bad man for many, many things. Some are publicly known but most are not.
He went into Afghanistan needlessly, next Iraq, Iran.
So Obama says he's the polar opposite, but he's adding Pakistan to that list?
Is he going to take out the Federal Reserve (the cause of America's economic disaster)?
We have 4 countries being taken over for oil (and other things that most dont know about)
All for change...but not too much?
Sorry, pressed enter accidentaly!
David Rockefella knew once he set up the Federal Reserve, he with some friends help, could take over America.
'Give me the purse strings of a country and I care not who makes the rules.'
In capatalism, money makes the rules.
But yeah, if Obama was the opposite to bush, the ying to his yang this is what would happen.
All troops out as quickly and peacefully as possible, set up the countrys his predecesors(sp?) have ruined truely democratically and them them be.
He would make hemp and cannabis legal, he would have no need for oil or paper from trees anymore. Nearly everything would probably be made from hemp.
He would fire nearly everyone because they are money hungry power monsters looking for empire, the last thing the world needs.
The problem with this is that the system has gone this way long, ago since JFK they got alot tighter about who makes it to be a candidate. Since then it seems to be proghanda and heavily media influenced opinions.
If any of you are Christians (Im not personally) you should check out 'The wolf in Sheeps clothing' in Revelations for some weird coincidences!

It's all TOO true. Partisan polotics are killing this country and no one seems to care as long as their guy wins. The problem arises when you tell people that they are part of the problem, no one wants to hear that, especially if they have been voting the party line for the passed several decades.
Personally I have voted only once in any presidential election and it was in 2004 for Kerry just so it would be a vote against Bush, of course the electoral college for my state (Utah at the time) went to Bush so what I had to say didn't matter.
*sigh*
I am getting really sick of the presidential election being more of a popularity contest that anything else. Have you ever heard the idea of "That guy seems like an ok dude to have a beer with, I'll vote for him." How stupid is that logic?
What I'd like to see in a cantidate is someone who is willing to state the finer points of their plans for the country and then be prepared to make changes to those plans if shortcomings are pointed out. It would also be nice to see someone who doesn't have a speach writer; smeone who has ideas to put forth not just rhetoric. It would be nice to see a cantidate hold a real town hall meeting with real people that actually represent the average american and it would be nice if they could talk about some real stuff, not just gloss over the basics.
From what I've seen I think Id like to see a Ron Paul/Ralph Nader ticket. I'd probably vote for that combo.
Or maybe we should find out who wants to be president the least and then make them be prez. How about some of the first responders from 9/11? They seem like decent people.

I dont think that is a very nice thing to say, what happend to freedom of speech your post does not reflect your signature ie No one is free as long as someone is oppressed.. you cant' stop someone voicing there opinion just because they don't live in your country.

all i know is when we f**k around all over the world and we value freedom of speech and thought so much... other people's peaceful expression of their opinions certainly matters to us.
Our economy and foreign policy can have direct impact on day to day life of millions of non-americans, get your facts str8 man!
we are no different than other nations, we ALL came from non-american ancestors after all didnt we? so why is it we always think we are masters of the world and we can do what we want how n when we want without even taking into account non-americans opinion
u can never see urself for who u r, until u look into a mirror or a recorded movie or picture, which is how u r viewed from outside, AN EXTERNAL POV!
one can be 350 lbs and still feel sexy inside, but i bet 300 lbs of fat wont look all that sexy to most ppl out there (no offense to fat ppl, im just trying to make an example)
or u can think u have whatever trait u think u have, but if 8 out of 10 ppl u meet tell u, u aint got it, u better kinda revise your own view and make sure u r on the right track, not that means u must change how u think, but if u r smart enough u will "take it into account"

Why does everyone think I hate freedom of speech? If I must, I'll clarify.
He can say whatever he wants, I just won't read it or take it into account because it's OUR country. Especially when it comes to politics. This is the problem with our country....we're more than willing to let other nations help decide OUR fate, most likely so WE can help decide THEIRS. James Monroe is tossing in his grave, badly.
Besides, the majority of this thread is about American internal politics, not foriegn policy. I don't like having people who dont live here trying to get in on my country's political scene.

Im liking this board! I tell you something man, on most US forums you can imagine what I get told!

No doubt. I'm not trying to hate or anything, I'm just a fan of internal politics staying that way. I'm sort of isolationist like that, I dont like getting involved with other countries and I dont like them getting involved in ours. Just the way I am.

I am the same man, sovereign nations all the way
If we can help each other through the development of our own countries peacefully though can you imagine the advances mankind could make?
That's what gets me man...how good could the world be? If only...

No need to worry about that one here. EVERYONE has the right to his/her opinion without being called rude names, etc.. If you feel the need to, as you did, lash out at those who deserve it; the ones that screwed up the political system in the first place.
I may not agree with what you had to say in full but you have the right to state it without personal attacks. Now if McCain or Obama decide to join the site, one of us may have to mellow out a bit.:D

i bet u feel now why half those foreigners hate us now right?
the point is, whether u like it or not, thats an input an intelligent person will take into account. only ignorant characters and selfish ones say "its none of your business"
just get back to weed example: I love weed, its no1's business if i smoke it to myself, but i certainly take into account any and all information out there about it, whether false or true and will use both to better my judgment and decisions; the false ones only strengthen my beliefs and the true ones will have some role in keeping me inline: in fact its none of the govts business if i smoke weed, but in reality they are part of it and are considered a risk to my life in this regard, i better know what a policeman thinks about weed despite me disagreeing with his views and him being almost totally irrelevant entity to my personal life/decisions.
whether we like it or not or want to believe it or not, we have interfered with many instances of other countries' internal affairs and political situations and in some cases without having any interest in doing so just for sake of asserting our power. and we continue to do so. its a globalized world that we live and WE, the USA certainly impact other countries in many different ways, so it really should not hurt that much opening our eyes and ears to some alternative views from outside, although i give it to ya, they are not the ones who vote so they dont get to "decide" but our decision should better include as many factors as possible to be a good one and an educated one.
