Some buyers are happy with the Vapir One. Can't beat the price for a dual mode vape (bag/direct draw). But the plastic shell, reliability issues, and 90 day warranty are definitely drawbacks.Quote:

The Natural Goods unit is a pretty safe buy from Gotvape. They give you a lifetime warranty on it. So as long as they're in business it's the best guarantee you'll get on a digital unit. The downside of this model is that you have to preheat the whip. The display shows the whip temp only, so it's not as useful as the $500 models.Quote:

The main differences in the DB and the SSV are the heater cover angle, hands free standard on the DB (a smaller bowl too) and the custom glass control knob is standard on the SSV. The opening on the DB heater cover is also a little larger, providing more air per hit, but thereby also exposing a wider surface area for the heated airstream. The difference in the vapor draws should be minimal. The bigger difference to me is the whip angle and hands free or not. Hands free is not a plus for me and I like the SSV connection angle, so that was the deciding factor for my purchase. Looks like the SSV is above your price range, but you can get one for $225 including shipping ('420Times' for the coupon code). Hard to beat the DB for the price though, if you like the setup.Quote:

swice1 also has a good point with the Hotbox. It's a proven design if you like the style.
Buy a Vapolution which are 150 on ebay. I own one and can say that it is best for the price. It comes with a lifetime warranty.
I used to own a Vapor Cannon, but the ceramic heating element gave off a bad mechanically burning smell, so I sold it and bought a Vapolution after using one at a friends house. The Vapolution is the cleanest tasting vaporizers I've used.
I have a Vapolution too, and it's a great home/portable vape. Unfortunately their warranty isn't what it used to be.
"The Vapolution Vaporizer is covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Manufacturing defects will be repaired free of charge for the first 90 days. After 90 days, any repair is $25USD except for the glass heater. The glass heater is covered by our $50USD replacement program."
That is NOT a lifetime warranty. That's a 90 day warranty. The $25 or $50 charge does cover return shipping, but charging for repair means out of warranty by anyone's definition.
The Vapolution really is a smooth hitter, but the narrow bowl restricts the size of your hits. Your typical 'home whip units'-Vaporcannon, etc., Da Buddha and SSV allow much bigger hits, if that's important to you. If you need easy portability (optional battery pack too), Vapolution's an excellent choice, and for some people, big hits are just an unpleasant surprise. If you home vape only, I'd give the edge to the above mentioned vapes. They give bigger hits and better warranties.
Hot box is treating me very well. Best whip ever which makes it the smoothest vapo I have used. I also like the horizontal position of the element. I don't ever get any spillage. Wouldn't mind a temp control but its pretty much at the best temperature. Gets a little hot with the tiles but it looks so damn cool.
That's the big minus for this vape IMO. A temp control is nice if you're going to vape a variety of herbs, but the target temp range is fine for a good many other herbs as well as the most important one. ;)Quote:

get a vaporbros... I got mine 4-5 years ago and it still works just as good as the day i bought it (I bought it used, too). i have never encountered anyone with any complaints about the vaporbros and I've met a fair amount...
Vapor Bros is the way to go. I bought one and it seems really durable. Smooth hits and it conserves so much fucking bud! I definitely use at least 2x less weed than I did smoking.
I'd prefer a Vaporcannon over the Vapor Bros. A little less $ and a better warranty.:twocents:
I think i'm pretty set on da buddha now
Another vote for the Hot Box. Best vaporizer out there.
It's certainly a good one, and you're welcome to your opinion, but there is no such thing as "Best vaporizer out there". Not for any type or price range. Personal preference is always the deciding factor (or should be) once you round up the quality vapes.Quote:

I would buy this because it comes with a warranty if u dont like it. Great buy.
Glad you like it. It's definitely the bargain in dual mode vapes.Quote:

Warranties don't cover satisfaction, only defects. A few companies have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, but I don't remember seeing one for Vapir. Their warranty is also a weak point-90 days.
I was just in the same situation as you and after a decent bit of research I choose the Silver Surfers little (and cheaper) brother Da Buddha. I just got in about 2 weeks ago but man I am EXTREMLY pleased with it. Its really easy to use, heats up fast, solid design, 3 year warranty and lots more. The only thing I've found about it thats mildy annoying is changing the screen, but thats a pretty insignificant thing to have to deal with when I weigh it against all the pros.
So my vote is for Da Buddha :)
vapor brothers got my vote
I gave my Vapor Bros. away, just a hassle to use, I thought ... IF you can cough up an extra $50, get the 'Herbalaire' ... herbalAire - Smokeless Herbal Vaporizer ... it's $250, and is pretty much the same as a Volcano ... can be used with or without the bag, and is VERY well-constructed, no 'cheapo' gear
How loud is the herbalaire compared to a vapir one. My friend who is staying with me now has a vapir one and has had it for a while now. I actually love it, its just extremely loud and the warranty sucks.
Only noise from the herbalAire is the low hum of the pump-hardly noticeable if you've got TV or music on. Even in a quiet room I don't find it obnoxious at all.
Looks like I'll be getting a herbalaire. I like how the pump is separate and is actually a pump and not a fan like the vapir one. A fan just can't produce the pressure to fill a bag without wasting. Does the pump take a long time to fill a bag?
The Herbalaire's pump takes about five minutes to fill a bag.Quote:

I'm sure that a stronger pump, or using two, would fill the bag faster, but it would probably have too much air and not enough vapor. It could also blow hot herb up into the bag. I wouldn't try hooking up two bags and turning up the temperature, either, due to the risk of burning out the heating component(s). Two standard bags of vape are enough for me in one sitting with the Herbalaire, but If I needed to vape multiple bags I'd consider getting an additional unit.Quote:

That's when I stop pulling because THC won't effectively vaporize at less than 175c or so (yes, it'll break down and combine with fat at like 75c but it won't vaporize into the air readily).
But my point is that you'd need to beef up the entire system to fill bags faster and that's probably not the best way to go and in the end, will probably cost you as much as 2 units anyway.
Do the bowls have a screen on the top and bottom or is it open? In the picutres I saw it looked like the bowl was just a empty tube with no screens.
I don't have that model but my whip vaporizer has a screen to hold the herb in the right place. My old school conduction vape on the other hand does not have one because there is very little air run over the herb.Quote:

Lol I am aware of that, I have a vaporbrothers I am not completely oblivious to vapes. I am very much aware of the difference between conduction and convection, if you even consider a conduction vape a vaporizer. I am asking specifically to the herbalaire "crucible" does it not have screens on the top and bottom?Quote:

I've added another screen to the top (just below really) of the crucible when I only had loose herb to load. The screen on the main mouthpiece isn't as fine as the crucible screens, and you don't want finely ground herb working its way past the mouthpiece screen and into the bag. This vape, more than any other, is very efficient with pieces of broken off bud. It gets fully cooked without grinding or breaking into tiny pieces. It does great with ground herb as well, it just gets messy (thus the extra crucible screen) and is not necessary at all.Quote:

I'm getting really excited about this vape, I just have to sell a couple things on ebay so I can afford another toy. BTW If anyone is interested in a XFX Geforce 6800GT I'm letting it go for $80 shipped. I got it on 4/18/08 from newegg for $90, but it doesn't have a feature that is important to me that my current card has, "play video fullscreen on tv". I'm trying to sell it first on another forum I am part of and have a reputation on.
I'd recommend getting a 4 pack of crucibles and an extra mouthpiece or two with your herbalAire. I've stepped on a couple of crucibles :( and it's nice to have one loaded and ready to go, even though they cool off pretty fast. You'll also want to watch out for the herbalAire bags. They're a bit thicker than Volcano/Toppits bags and they won't burst if you leave them on too long and they overfill, but they will leak vapor when they're full (like a safety valve), so if you leave the room and lose track of time, you'll return to an empty bag.
I emailed herbalaire directyl and asked about using a higher flow pump. This is there response.
The herbalaire comes with a 1L per minute pump. The pump herbalaire is "experimenting" now with is a 10L per minute pump and a connection to fill two bags at once. But what I want to do is upgrade the pump to a 2L per minute pump. I think that will be a nice combo, the pumps are only $10-$15 and are silent. I think one dense vapor bag is better than two half as dense bags. And I don't think the slightly more air flow of the 2 LPM will after the vapor density too much.Quote:
Hi,
We have been experimenting with selling a larger pump for session use. It will likely be sold as an accessory. The herbalAire is able to handle to the larger air flow without sacrificing the temperature control. The faster airflow does have a slight impact on the concentration of the vapor coming from the unit.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

They've been experimenting a long time. They must be busy and only have a few minutes here and there. The company President/designer sent me a 3-way mouthpiece with my unit almost 2 years ago. I've never bought a stronger pump to go with it. I just don't need 3 bags at once often enough to bother with it. I'd rather use different sized bags to get a quicker fill. Let us know how that 2L pump works out (if you can find one). I shopped for pumps and it's frustrating trying to find out exactly how much air they push.
I've found a few pumps online that are about 2LPM. The pump that interests the most is the Dolphin One Star pump. It is rated at 2.5LPM with an adjustable air flow. The pump is said to be virtually silent. How useful the adjustable air feature is another thing. Just finished two bowls out of the vapir one so I'm pretty backed.
