As much as id like to think im the culmination of my own experiences I wonder how much of my mindset I just adopted from my parents. After all I have their very same liberal ideology and my dads passioned sense of atheism and lust for science. I wonder if i'd still have the same opinions and beliefs if I grew up in some Christian gun toting country home in the bible belt....
Product of your environment moreso than your parents IMO.

I'm growing up in the bible belt and my parents are Christians but I'm way different from them, I don't believe in god and I smoke and they're very against it. My parents and I are on a very different page.Quote:

I'm nothing like my real dad mentally, but I have probably adopted some of my step dad's morals which isn't a bad thing since he's a good guy (apart from sleeping with the next door neighbor which is why he isn't my "step dad" anymore, lol!).

Yep. and i'm lucky enough to know that they have a lot in common with their own parents.
of course, you are your own person and make your own decisions but I have to admit I see myself in them(vise versa) sometimes.
