220 ppm. Thats nuts and dirty water. That is what I would guess is creating this white foam buildup. The local water authourities put chemicals in our tap water so that contaminants don't make us sick. Yeah like putting chemicals in drinking water helps. Anyway, your water source is the reason for your prob. Oh yeah, plants can grow in dirty water but don't expect any flowers.
My suggestion would be for you to get yourself a RO filter installed in your kitchen. Or if you can do it yourself, install it where you please. You can never go wrong with RO, 15 - 30 ppm max!

or you could just make sure that your reservoir is the correct temperature (68-72), the ph is correct, and give it a few days like you did before and it will go away.
Also, if you are using an airstone, be sure you clean all the shit out of it during EVERY reservoir change (this might help, I had to ditch my airstone and just use a small pump to keep the water circulating but the foam thing hasn't happened since).

Didn't you just go buy an R/O system ?
What are you using swamp muck that could possibly be riddled w/ bacteria in your hydro system for ?

You've already seen it doesn't work, if you're concerned enough about foam to post a question about it.
Why don't you want to use your RO system? And what about your tap water? Why are you using spring water to begin with?

hook up that RO unit and it will be the best thing you have ever done for your grow,no point in having an RO unit if your not going to use it.i have one hooked up and i see with my own eyes the plants love it.

OW! That's lovely! Can you stand a spoon up in your water glass? :D
Go for the RO unit, and add CalMag to your res to replace minerals lost.

okay i guess thats my last choice...its an under sink RO...and i really dont know how to install it....i will have to get gallons of RO water out of a tiny little spout..that is what im also worried about

installing RO unit should be easy just read instructions or if you do not have them, go read up online on how to install your RO unit,if your worried about how much water you need and how long it will take to filter you may get away with using 50% RO and 50% tap water, you could also buy a pressure pump for the RO unit to boost water pressure up to 8 bar so you can filter more water faster with less waste water too

Dont use the lil b/s res. and spigot .
I run the line that would feed the res. right into a 44 gal. garbage can . You just have to open and close the feed / saddle valve whenever you need r/o water to stop / start filling the can .
Peace

The spigot line should not come off the actual RO housing itself, but be a branch off of the tank line. Remove the tee that branches it, and run a single line into the garbage can for good water.
If you cannot remove the spigot line, then just get a valve to fit on the end to close it off, or yes, put it in the garbage can too. My unit had the same feature, as it was sold at a dept store for drinking water, not marketed to our sector.
I repeate, it is not neccessary to hook up the spigot line to anything other than a collection can if you cannot remove it.
Peace

If you get yourself a 3 1/2 gal filtered water jug, you can fill that in your kitchen sink, then go fill 5 gal jugs after your 3 1/2 jug gets full. This is if you can't get it to a bigger rez. Doing this I can fill 15 gal in six hours, thats with the tap on and off.
