Anyone have some segestions?
NWA, Dr Dre, public enemy, RunDMC
Beastie Boys
Anything more along the lines of Immortal Technique.
BTW i may not know the Beastie Boys much, but i havnt know them to be 'Revolutionary'
Qwel.
There are more rubber duckies on the face of this earth than real ducks.
I've heard a lot of IT, and saw him in concert the other day...I honestly don't get what people see in him...he's really not that good to tell you the truth. Beastie Boys definitely are revolutionary...they were the first white rappers pretty much LOL. They brought hip-hop and rock together as well. Just like Em was revolutionary...he changed the whole genre, as did guys like Jay, Nas, BIG, Tupac, Outkast, Wu-Tang, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Bone Thugs, DMX, Snoop & Dre, KRS, Run DMC, NWA and even Ludacris.Quote:

I think im being misinterperted, I mean revolutionary in the terms of 'Viva la revolution', along the lines of changing political, econmical, and or social ways. Not so much in purly hip hop terms.
Any sugestions for Beastie Boys along those lines?
It's not what I listen to, but I hear tell that Tupac was the definitive rapper....
Yeah tupac was a lyrical genius.. if you just listen to some of his songs and take a look at the lyrics you will be able to see what i mean, hes like a musical version of the bible, you can learn from him.
I don't know about revolutionary but these guys are all pretty fucken amazing

Wu-Tang
Atmosphere,MF DOOM, A Tribe Called Quest, Brother Ali, Sage Francis, Jedi Mind Tricks, De La Soul,MURS, Gangstarr, Imortal Technique, Cunninglynguist, Ill Bill, Talib Kweli, Common, Edan, Mos Def, Andre Nickatina, Jakki Da Motamouth, Typical Cats, Dez and Nobs. All shit I would check out if I were you.
Ras Kass is probably the best rapper out of the West Coast. Listen to "Nature of the Threat" or "Interview with a Vampire" and you'll see what I mean. Dont get me wrong I love Tupac but lyrically he cant compete with Kass.
Cypress Hill is all about legalizing it.
Public Enemy and NWA have been said and you should check em out if you havent.
Zack de la Rocha, his solo career never took off but he has a few songs out there that are good. Or just look up Rage Against the Machine for the best songs about taking the power back.
KRS-One has some good shit.
Ice Cube one of my favorites of all time, just pick up Death Certificate and The Predator.
And the Wu-Tang Clan is good, but they arent Revolutionary.
i saw immortal technique on tuesday night. very sick performance. and most certainly what you are looking for. check his tour and see if he's coming to around where you are.
They are actually pretty revolutionary for their outreach, especially their work with Tibet House.Quote:

KRS-One is a good one.
Good list...Gangstarr-YES!...but don't forget Freestyle Fellowship, especially Aceyalone. Inner City Griots is the greatest rap album of all time.Quote:

I almost forgot...K'naan. K'naan has been touring with Damian Marley. There really isn't anything more revolutionary than growing up in a wartorn Somalia. Watts is Watts, and Detroit is Detroit...but Mogadishu is Mogadishu, ya heard? You can't just drive to the valley or the burbs to get a break from the drive-by. If you have not checked him out:

In what way? I think you are going by a different definition of "revolutionary"Quote:
