Everybody thinks I'm gay

I had a strange realization last night. I was at a concert, and I overheard some chick that kept eyeing me saying "why isn't this guy hitting on me. Tall, handsome, he must be gay." I look around and realized I was the only tall dude around. At that moment, I recollected moments in the past when I was questioned about being gay.

Then I asked a couple of my female co-workers if I gave off a gay vibe. They said I sorta did, they labeled it "metrosexual." WTF? If I didn't have to dress-up at work, I'd be wearing t-shirt and jeans. One of them says how I carry myself hints of gayness.

That's when I realized, everyone but close family and friends thinks I'm gay. That's just messed up. I don't even do anything that resembles gayness in my opinion. So I maybe shy, and don't approach chicks very often, but that doesn't mean I'm gay! Man, I don't even know what to do!

^^ haha you dont mind the label because youre gay! lol but I agree, labels are a joke. Especially ones with such a hazy definition such as "Metrosexual" Its all a joke to me. Sexuality is sexuality who the fuck cares who its geared towards?

THCBongman... I dont know you so I can only guess and generalize, so please tell me where my assumptions have strayed from accuracy.. bear with me:

I sense that you are confused about how they meant "how you carry yourself makes you seem gay" Well it sounds like body language has kicked you in the ass when you werent looking... men whose body language and poise have too many effeminite traits put off a... well... feminine vibe. It has lots to do with many little idiosyncracies about ourselves that we usually dont pay much attention to. Men and women for the most part have very separate and well-defined body language characteristics.

Everything, from how straight or slouched you hold your back, to how you move your ass and shoulders when you walk, to how you swing your arms and place your feet when you walk. Even just how you motion with your hands while talking can have a masculine or feminine cast to the motion, or even the way you tilt your head. All these tiny, sub-conscious movements and many many more (a whole spectrum of facial expressions can cast the light either way) are relatively inconsequential when viewed alone (except for maybe an extreme... like a severely limp wrist lol), but when they all go together to form the big picture, they do much more to cast aspersions on that person character.

I dont tell you this so you can try and "fix" the issue by changing yourself, only so you can understand why, and be satisfied with the answer. There are people who ask me if IM gay, and I am very heterosexual. Not even homophobic in the least... it doesnt even have anything to do with guys.. I just love women too much to ever NOT be attracted to them.

The point isnt whether youre gay or straight, or whether people think youre gay or straight... its that you know what YOU are. Fuck the people who doubt you, just always trust your gut instinct and you will always be happy.


EDIT: I felt it important to add that one of the things women find sexiest and most manly is confidence. People often mistake shyness for lack of interest and often jump conclusions. Work on becoming more outwardly confident if you want to disperse with the accusations.

Very true ... I work in the gayborhood of Philadelphia and it kills me! There are soo many hot ass gay guys. It's good that your 'metro' or whatever because it means your hot and you take care of yourself. and all that matters is you know your not!

Ya know, some of the posts in this topic got me pondering one day while high and contemplative.. and I think I may understand a major reason why so many men are homophobic... bear with me as I was high and its just a supposition.

Its actually pretty simple, really. In todays world where homosexuality is more prevalent and accepted, many of the things that gay men enjoy are becoming more mainstream knowledge. 60 years ago, the only people that seemed to know what gay people did were gay people.. the rest of the world tried its best to ignore it, it would seem.

Switching it up for a second... Men enjoy the comraderie of their buddies. Good friends go fishing and camping and to bars together, they have poker night, guys nights out.. all sorts of shit. Its a bonding experience, and it brings them closer as friends. Gay men are the same as straight men in that respect, the only difference being, they actually have romantic feelings of love attached as well.

Homophobic men become uncomfortable when they realize that many of the same things they like doing with their buddies, are enjoyed by gay men and their lovers as well. Their insecurity makes them afraid that simply because they share something in common with a gay dude, that must mean they, in turn, are gay. And it freaks them out. Also, they very well could have had fantasies or dreams about men, which happens to more straight guys than most would think, and almost all of them get freaked out by it lol.

Not to mention society has been shunning homosexual activity via religion for a couple millenia now; and that has had quite an impact on the moderm male psyche. I guess it all breaks down to the fact that so many people on Earth are no longer their own person.. just imitations.. shells of pop-mainstream culture emulation. Dont trust the gut.. ask MTV or the media... theyll know. Its pathetic.

Anyway it wont last forever.. lesbianism is already becoming more and more accepted, mostly thanks to womens rights movements and the porn industry, ironically enough. And the fact that women are alot more beautiful than men, lol.

I don't really care who thinks whether I'm gay or not. I simply don't give a shit anymore. I don't give a damn who judges me, and laughs, because someone else is laugh at you!
