My plants are 6 weeks old and have not started alternating nodes. They are starting to get too big for the grow space. I've done lst but the inner growth is close to being to tall. What are the downside of starting flowering too early?
thanks

the downside to flowering too early is less budsites = less potential bud
What kind of lights are you using? You should have internodes at this point. Some strains can be put in flower from as short as two weeks and still do well. I have some that are doing twice as well as their sisters who were veged longer.
Adieu
He's right but I'd much rather have a 3 foot plant inside a 4 foot grow room than a 4.5 foot plant in a 4 foot grow room. She'll double in size in flower. I'd say grow to your grow space... My first two grows were kinda crappy as I didnt allow enough space...the buds were stretching into the light and the lower sites were tiny. You can produce more if you take advantage of how much space you have. I like scrog grows for limited space, but you should start from a clone of a good mother to insure you are weaving a female into the screen...take a look into screen of green if you havent already. You can really produce when you get the hang of it :D .Quote:

i'm growing under 250 mh, 3 plants, there about 10 inches tall lst prob. about 16 if you straighten them out. i'll try to post picks tomorrow. this is my 2nd grow and i'm doing much better this time around. i think i'm going to lst to the 2 tallest plants again and try to give it another week or two, but, i don't think i'm going to be able to veg much longer.
if two foot is too tall,,,,how high is your grow room,
if your plants are sativa's!, then flower the suckers off now, couse they gonna more than double in size before they finnish.if you grow under a less intense light they will grow slower and with more internodes, then as you change from grow to flower, the plants get a boost of light going to HPS,
IF you change them now! the drop in lumens could send the plants into preflower and maturity!then you could fit your HPS bulb to flower off!
good luck!
the above is saying to change to compact flouros for eg for growth and to stimulate maturity and preflower
If your plants are ten inches tall they should have alternating nodes. Alternating nodes means one set of branches goes on way and the next set up on the plant are perpendicular.
I just put most of my plants into flowering at about 3 weeks. Plenty of bud sites. Train your plant out instead of up and it won't get tall.
