Downside of flowering too early?
My plants are 6 weeks old and have not started alternating nodes. They are starting to get too big for the grow space. I've done lst but the inner growth is close to being to tall. What are the downside of starting flowering too early?

the downside to flowering too early is less budsites = less potential bud

What kind of lights are you using? You should have internodes at this point. Some strains can be put in flower from as short as two weeks and still do well. I have some that are doing twice as well as their sisters who were veged longer.

if two foot is too tall,,,,how high is your grow room,
if your plants are sativa's!, then flower the suckers off now, couse they gonna more than double in size before they finnish.if you grow under a less intense light they will grow slower and with more internodes, then as you change from grow to flower, the plants get a boost of light going to HPS,
IF you change them now! the drop in lumens could send the plants into preflower and maturity!then you could fit your HPS bulb to flower off!
good luck!

If your plants are ten inches tall they should have alternating nodes. Alternating nodes means one set of branches goes on way and the next set up on the plant are perpendicular.

I just put most of my plants into flowering at about 3 weeks. Plenty of bud sites. Train your plant out instead of up and it won't get tall.
