Generation gap is a bitch! I'm sure when i have kids i will be more open to them to smoking pot, but then again I don't and won't regard smoking weed as a bad experience, or effect on me so what if I failed grade 10 when I started smoking weed with my friends. But I got my act together and finished highschool after that year, and I wouldn't change anything if I could about my grade ten year it was the best times of my life, and now years later I find myself back smoking the herb, the herb rocks!!Quote:

Ganja: Your mom really shouldnt say "You are nothing but a common criminal" Its a bad mistake IMO but I read it as a desparate attempt to get through to you. This may be the first encounter for her in which you see the world differently from her and stand firm on your position. Up till now she could likely dismiss your opinion and make you do what she wants - was it your choice to be potty trained? There will be more confrontations like this in the next few years and standing your ground early on in this process is very important. Just because she is being a jackass about it doesnt mean you should too. Avoid inflammatory confrontations even when she provokes - it will only make things worse for both of you. Try to find calm moments and gently point out to her that you have your own opinions and she should respect them: that your use of ganja is a decision that you have thought about carefuly (if you havent then now is the time!) and that she should respect that even if she disagrees. That you are not a common criminal - you believe in the law and being law abiding but you use your own judgement. "A foolish consistency is the hobgobblin of small minds" / Hobbes. Surely she speeds sometimes when driving - thats a case of he making her own judgement despite the law. Point out that she has a lot better chance of influencing you if she is a friend rather than an adversary. Be calm - let her rant and rave - stick to your guns - she will likely hear you but it will take time.
When my eldest was your age we had similar problems - not MJ - it was booze and schoolwork. I tried the approach that your mom has taken and it crashed and burned - leaving us both further apart and resentful of each other. I wish I could have been smarter - I did alot better with his brothers - like I said I did learn a thing or two over the years. In the end he got his act together and did great. I still have bad nights when I recall the shitty time I gave him. We are good friends now but there is still something of a barrier between us that I dont feel with his brothers - sigh
I have a five year old...your scaring the shit out of me. I have a girl
