Finn'SCRog - Trainwreck & Mystery Sativa
Yo bigtops whats up bro,
Ya log is really rolling along now, Glad that there are still a few people around that have interesting logs, Sorry to YOUS who log I have been skippin over tho lol.:D Ill try to find 2 or 3 more to entertain myself.:pimp:
So what is the actual sq. foot size of the sCrog like round 4sq. feet at least.? Sorry if you posted the info on the screen size, I am lazy right now and am rolling a Cigar:baggy:.
I have a PPP that is like 3 sq. feet without a screen, And i am not sure if I should use a screen an single scrog it like you. I am gonna flower under a 600 hps. I have a lot of tops like you to, But I am unsure if my yield benefit from the scrog or if I just Lst it to a square 4 ft and then flower.
The plant itself is like maybe 10 inches tall, I keep lst it and clipping the shoots that get to tall.
Could I get your opinion on this, just you do scrog I don't and my last grow was not to successful due to stupidity and minor mistakes.
Guess you could probably help steer me along as you are doing well with that 400w so what would you do in my situation with a 600w?:D
Dam, That Ms is kicking right along to, I had a awesome sativa last grow but it was just taking to long so it got tossed out.

Hey Killer and thanks!
My screen is about 15" x 20" if you lay it flat, but I curved it to try and get a little more even lighting.
I'd say if you have 15 min. to an hour to spend training every few days for a month, then the Scrog is really nice. Maybe the growth will be hindered a little for the stretch, but after that you just watch them grow :)
Unless you have room restrictions, I'd try to make the screen at least 3ft. x 3ft. with that light. When the screen is filled to 60-70%, flip to 12/12. Go for it

I finally had some time to read threw your whole thread today.
I have the clone form of TW, I bought it in CA. Mine takes about 12 weeks to finish. I can't believe GH seeds got theres to finish in 9 weeks. Any way mine tastes and smells very much like lemon with a hint of pine sol. It grows crazy sativa style. And about it producing hermaphrodite flowers. It has done it every grow. I have never had more than a few seeds. The male flowers appear more towards the later side of flowering. I read in the bookstore that TW hermies on just about every grow. I forgot the book but if someone really wants to know I will go find it again and post quote by quote what I read. The book is referring to the clone form.
Anyway, sweet grow I subscribed.

very true about the stretch, my branches are really getting a noticeable stretch, I may even outrun one side of the screen...
gonna give myself a bit more room next time.
the scrog looks great finn:thumbsup:

I try to stay out of the whole 'Cali clone scene' because everyone has their own story for everything, and every person has 'the real deal' because they got their clones from a 'trusted source' blah blah blah. From my own research, I've found people saying it's a sativa dom and a fast finisher, it's a sativa dom with long flower times, that it herms every time, and that it never herms  One thing most people can agree on is that it's a viney plant, and that's definitely true about the TW's I've had.
I've been pretty happy with mine so far, but after all the troubles I've seen other people having with fem seeds I don't think I'll be buying them again, for a long time ;) I think what matters most is that you're happy with what you have. Thanks for stopping by and happy growing

GH did a really nice job with there seeds. Getting clones anywhere is shady. Thats why I am at the bookstore reading as many books as I can. I truly want to know the genetics of my plants for breeding purposes (I wish I could travel the world looking for seeds but no money for that). As far as growing for smoke, for sure, as long as its good it does not matter.
I have no idea if my trainwreck is the real clone.
I am certain about my 91 chem dawg though.
Thats a Colorado strain. My favorite plant I own.

Heard and seen so many good things about Chemdog that I had to get my hands on something to see for myself (post # 102) With some luck I'll have a grow log on one of them later this year

You will not be disappointed. I look forward to checking it out if you grow it. I have learned a lot reading this thread. The yield on this grow is going to be way more than my old TW grow. Next time I might have to steal your SCROG style (I am nervous to try). Way better idea.
Peace, checking back soon, thanks for the informative thread.

Rolling right along
TW has recovered from the training with more and even sized buds. Been feeding the Canna Flores and Plagron PK 9/10 every three days, plain water yesterday.
TW at 4 weeks

Here's the MS at week 7
Still going strong. Been fed with Canna Flores and Plagron PK 9/10 every three days also except yesterday didn't feel very light. Checked again today and still could go maybe a few hours or overnight (5 days since last watering) before giving her some plain water for a change.
I wouldn't be surprised if it goes the full 12 weeks, but I'm hoping I can pick it sooner

Finn'SCRog - Trainwreck & Mystery Sativa
Thanks fellas  Definitely tough to wait...
TW looks to be much more resinous than the MS, trichs all over the tops :) But I think the MS will still hold its own. Smoked some before from the original grower, not very crystally but still a very 'high' high :stoned:

Are Plagron nutes any good? Like you I am using the canna range atm, but I got a huge box of full of free foods from a cannabis convention and it had some Plagron Coco A+B nutes in it.

Nice grow you have going there. Interesting that you just flopped the screen on top. I'm surprised that the plant didn't push it upwards or perhaps it is secured somehow?
Subscribed. Interested to see how this turns out. Will be watching your next one too, especially if you decide to do a more traditional scrog.
Do you or anyone have any pointers to good scrog guides? I've found a few older ones but I would like something with pictures illustrating setup and training. I'm guessing this is a learn by doing thing.
Don't mean to hijack you log. I'll be watching to the finish (nice pun, eh?).

Don't really know much about Plagron to make a recommendation. It hasn't done any harm for me (that I know of, may have caused the nutrient problem I had last grow) but hard to say without comparing it to Canna's PK. Next time I'm switching to Coco, and I'll just get one brand and stick with it, probably Canna again.

No worries, not jacking at all. But geez, where to start... well, I found this a very helpful thread when I started: http://boards.cannabis.com/closet-ca...ly-ladies.html
In addition to that it's really learning by doing. One of the most important things IMO is to start with LST and/or topping so you don't have one thick main stalk, but several smaller ones that are easier to train. The second is getting the right screen size - holes that are not too big and not too small. Mine are too small ATM but couldn't really find the right one. Also, knowing how much the plant will stretch in flowering is important so you can fill in the screen all the way. I used my previous LST grow to judge the stretch. For the TW I need to fill in the screen about 60-70%. With a sativa, it might be more like 30% before flipping the lights.
I did tie the screen down after a couple days. First in one place, then a couple more later. The last bit of advice I can give is to do things gradually, not too much at once. In addition to anchoring the screen to the main stalk, I use twist ties to pull up branches so that more bud sites and at the screen level.
I'd make a guide for scrogging, but I don't really think I'm qualified enough for that until I can work with a couple different strains. But if you have any questions feel free to ask, I'll do my best to answer :)

hey Finn.......
have you tried re-vegging a plant after harvest?....
I've been reading rusty's threads and I think it would be a good idea for myself if i don't chop my scrog plant and just go back to 18/6 after a trim......
I'm confused though about the roots........I'll finish in the 5 gallon pot and he says to go with a bigger pot.......can't I just cut the roots??? and put fresh soil in the 5 gallon again....I'll veg for 3 weeks and then flip the lights.......
I would love to hear your opinioin and strategy on this...

Never re-vegged, sorry :( I'd take Rusty's advice and re-pot bigger. The harvest, trimming and changes in light schedule and nutrients are probably already enough stress for the plant, so that's your best bet IMO. I'm sure a root trim can be done, but maybe doing it later would be better (??)

Finn'SCRog - Trainwreck & Mystery Sativa
Got some pics :)
Stopped giving PK to either plant. Now just the Canna Flores until flush, with some plain water every third time.
TW's been yellowing a lot, mostly underneath. As I didn't trim any leaves this time, this isn't really a surprise. Last pic is where I think there is a hot spot or possibly too much PK :wtf:
5 weeks of 12/12 for the TW:

First 2 are TW.
Last 2 are the MS at 8 weeks 12/12

I wish I could... a guest is coming over here in a little over a month, which will cut it close with the harvest/dry/cure. Oh well, I'll have something at least.

Bloom Day 42 TW
You can see in the last pics where the light bleach/burn has spread a little. My own fault for not moving the light up earlier :beatdeadhorse: Oh well, live and learn... (The MS tops are a few inches closer to the light, and no bleaching :wtf:)

great screen Finn..lots of buds.....70ish??
Looks like you're gonna pull 2oz. + on this plant
shall I dare predict the dry harvest at 2.5oz........
got a question about nutes........the bloom formula states 1 feeding at 1 tablespoon per 1 gallon.when would i increase?......or is it all based on how the plant looks??
thanks for all the help and setting the pace for scroggin:thumbsup::rasta:
