There is a nice set of tables here. The data appears reliable. It seems that among 12th-graders, approximately 45.7% have tried the drug at least once in their lives, 19.9% smoke about once per month and about 5.6% are regular daily users for the period 2001 to 2004, down slightly from previous years.

It's also interesting to not that while the percentage of high school students who have tried marijuana is higher than the general population (nearly half as opposed to a third) as a whole, the percentage of regular high-school users is actually lower. Make of that what you will.

I think it means high school students are finding their way in life figuring out who they are. Lots of experimenting in general happens in high school. Also money is no doubt a larger issue with a 16 y.o. who at best can have a part time job during school. If they have any expenses the money left for recreational drug use is rather limited. Obviously there are still plenty who make it work one way or another, but I sure as hell know I couldn't afford to smoke every day in high school if I wanted to...

at our school, my town is umm... full of overprotective mothers.

my towns kind of full of stuck up rich people, well at least half of my town is. With rich people comes drug problems... especially alcahol lol
My high school had 2 black kids and 1 puerto rican in a school of around 1500. Imagine the shock. I moved away from a middle school where 65% of the students were black. Needless to say the racism was pretty bad in high school.Quote:

I live in Riverside county, the city i live in is Norco (north corona) and now its a lot diff, they actually had a small 'race riot' the year after i left because a lot more black people moving in =\ this town is fucking weird...anyone whos been here knows what i mean, its like a little hick ass country town in the middle of gang-banger-ville. and ya there was only 6 black kids there when i left :DQuote:

There are many former/current heroin addicts who post there - one thing many of them would agree on is that cannabis was NOT the drug that led them to heroin ... more often than not it was prescription drugs, alcohol, etc that did.

Your post reminds me of another thing that needs to be added at cann.com - a parents/family topic area ... not sure what it should be called, but basically an area for discussion of parental/family matters relating to cannabis.
