Zeb
i already moved them into the 3 gal pots 2 weeks ago.
whats more is they have stayed pretty wet since.
i have not needed to water even once.
this is one of the things i been thinkin may be an issue.
for some reason it takes forever for the soil to dry out in veg, sometimes it takes a month.
its always been like this, i just havent said anything about it.
i am actually thinking about winding an aeration hose down into the soil on the next big pot i use for a sprout or clone.
i've been experimenting with perforated air pump hose and what size holes may work best.
so far it looks like maybe pinholes every 1/4 - 1/2 inch for about a foot.
my idea is to bury that in the soil coiled in the pot to pump air into the soil.
the thing that keeps scratchin the back of my brain is that i seem to have ideas which mutate my meathods towards hydro in some respects.
i actually have started reading up quite a bit on hydro lately.
if i cant get better yeilds, this entire endevour is a waste of time and money.
here are pics of the veg bunker.
i gotta run, be back in a day or 2.
I like the idea of hydro for you.....if you can get a setup that makes it easy to move your water around. I think you would like it better as well.
You make an excellent point about the drainage.....I think that may well be part of your problem. It ALWAYS was for me and definitely affected the growth in my soil plants.
What soil are you using?
i drilled a few extra holes in the bottom of my pots, lined it with 3 in of river rocks, and with the fox farm, i get good drainage...sinkholes sometimes in the beginning, think its from the fox farm being so airy...where you using rocks at the bottom of the pots?
ok, im back.
answers for both of u.
i already drill extra holes.
my soil is a mix of MG, plain potting, and perlite.
i get excellent drainage, but, like i said, it takes forever for the soil to dry out during veg.
as to hydro, grrrrrrrr, it just goes so against my grain,(not to mention can be dangerous up on the second floor) but, ive been looking at that sticky'd thread, the dudes doing a combo of drip and bubbler. i kinda dig the concept, but havent read to the end yet.
i dont have a clue what nutes or any of the tech specs that would be good for me.
WH, i was planning on emailing u backchannel if/when im ready to explore more of the details in depth. u been there 4 me since the beginning and i dont forget a friend.
btw- i been away and will finish ur kit soon.
stay dirty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...lol
