Can't you get the 8" net pots? They cost only a few bucks? They even have one that fits over the 5-gal bucket so you don't need to make a hole in the lid.
Turtle drop me an email will ya?

Growing super cool... I'm ejoying this very much. I already started to train the biggest plant into the screen... and less than 6 hours later, she already had bent her self in such a way as to receive as much light as possible. Amazing.
I've been keeping the pH around 5.80.... anybody have any suggestions for a better number?
I have a small problem with my hydro unit... and it's because of lazyness.
I still haven't installed bigger diameter hoses for the mix return... thus, slowly over time, the pump overflows one, or the other grow bucket. Which then spills 950ppm nutrient mix all over the inside of the cab... and the floor.
Anyway, my temporary fix has been to turn OFF the nutrient pump for 5 minutes, every hour. During those 5 minutes, all the buckets re-level their mix. After the OFF time, back ON for 55 minutes. (Gotta love those X10 timers.)
I plan on installing two more additional hoses into the buckets... hopefully that will provide enough return flow into the rez bucket.
I hope you guys enjoy the pics... :)
Take much care all of you, and god-speed-ahead,

SIDE-NOTE::: Yesterday, "playing" with my mother plants, I realized, my mother plant "miniaturized" herself! She doesn't have big leaves... they're all... um, small. She's healthy, green, and growing... but, small leaves... interesting...
hey turtle whatsup looking damn good .....

what is the water level in those buckets? how much of the root is exposed to air, and how often do you refill the reservoir to maintain the water level? I love the system

The water level::: It's about 2-3 inches from the top of the buckets. I never run it completely full, because I've got a "flow" problem that will overflow one of my buckets and spill the nutrient mix to the floor.
Exposed roots::: About the same 2-3 inches of roots are exposed to the air. It varies, as when I fill the system, less roots get exposed. As the water level goes down, well, obviously more roots get exposed. Max exposure, I would place it around 3-4 inches. I'll get some root pics for you ;)
Frequency of refills::: Right now, no refills. The plants are still small, so they don't drain the mix that much. When the 7 days of the "nutrient mix life" are up, I change everything. We're going to have to wait two or three weeks to find out how much water must be added to keep proper levels.
Thanks for the comments on the system :D. If you want any detailed pics and/or help with anything, just holla.
Best to you BlazedIdo,

Thanks for the response. I haven't met any nicer people than on this site. Maybe the whole world needs to rip a few bongs and chill the fuck out.
I noticed that the temp of your nutrient solution is in the 80's. Is this where it is supposed to be? What is the optimum temperature for the water, and does it change with the phases? Also, did you add all the nutrients for veg, flower and the micro at the same time? I was under the impression that you only added the floragrow for veg, and then the micro and bloom at the start of flowering? One more thing. If GH floralicous grow, and GH Floralicous bloom are used, is Foxfarm Big bloom and ok way to go for the micro? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to tie up some loose ends.
water temp should be no higher than 75 degrees...
preferably even cooler.. like 70-72 farenheit..
: )
