why do people say weed is a drug?

Notrightquite, I don't mean to be an ass, but I love debates so I'm going to keep at this - I think you represent a common opinion and that's really what I'm fighting - nothing personal.

As I said, grass shouldn't necessarily be consumed at the rate of food, or consumed at all for that matter, depending on the person. That so, if something isn't quantifiable then it should be made illegal? If something isn't quantifiable then it isn't as important as something that is?

How about religion, meditation, or art - these are all legal forms of spiritual 'food.' None of these is quantifiable, so why is it that only cannabis has been declared illegal?

whether or not a drug is legal has nothing to do with its status as a drug. don't be fooled by that "drugs and alcohol" bullshit because alcohol is as much as a drug as heroin is.

yes, marijuana is a drug. so is alcohol. so is tobbaco.

While "drug" is a rather loosely used term (I prefer 'psychoactive'), cannabis fits the definition because it contains chemicals that directly affect the central nervous system and may cause significant changes in the way you think. Many people including myself have developed a tolerance to marijuana's effects and find it easy to go about ones normal everyday activities whilst stoned. I've also used heroin on occasion and must say that it also allowed me to perform my daily tasks as I normally would have, perhaps even better. Is heroin not a drug now?

I believe cannabis is illegal because it is a threat to the tobacco, alcohol and pharmaceutical industries not to mention oil and lumber. For those interested in how it actually became illegal read a few chapters of The Emperor Wears No Clothes.

Maybe, some people say that, drugs are "engineered" by men, I say no.. Just as long as it alters you're mind, It's a drug..

The dangers of it might not even come CLOSE to some of the other drugs..!

Okay I'll answer that one - it was shaman. My guess is cannabis is both, like salvia, which I can buy legally at an herbal shop two blocks from my home.

yes it is. pot replaces meat, and meat is considered required food because of amino acids found only in meat, tofu, and even more so, cannabis.


im sure it's factual that we could live on eating nothing but cannabis, and drinking only water, and breathing air.


oh, yes, and as far as im concerned, the only things that are drugs are the things you can induce a toxic overdose; which is, so far, everything BUT weed.
