its not a harmful drug, why is weed illegal i dont understand how alcohol and tabacco can be perfectly legal and weed isnt and weed is far less harmful than both alchy and cigs. so why is it an illegal drug?

Its illegal because we live in a culture that fears people who exist outside of time. Sure, we send money to food shelves at Christmas, but we're afraid to look a homeless man in the eye. It really is as Jack Nicholson's character in Easy Rider describes it (a great scene from a movie that tells a lot of truth about pot). People who have been 'enlightened' by grass tend to take things with a grain of salt, not getting wound up about ultimately very frivolous things, like a douchebag you work with, traffic jams, bad weather, anything. Meanwhile everyone else is caught on a different wavelength, and they see this fragment, our fragment of society that is exempt from having to fuck with car payments and fashionable clothes and makeup and how to fit a new IKEA couch through the doorway...

If a chemical is added to a food or is in food, and that chemical itself changes your body's workings, it's a drug. I said food was exempt because food itself does change the way your body works, however it's required, so it can't be classified as a drug. Pot may seem like a requirement (I know I'd LOVE some right now ... fucking dealer won't answer his phone), but it's not! So it's a drug. That's just how it is ... drugs have a bad rep just because people are weird.

Notrightquite, I'm not saying grass should necessarily be consumed at a rate similar to food, but how is grass anything less than nourishment? I realize you were talking about the physical side of things, but isn't the mental-spiritual aspect just as important?
