I think people are quite candid about sex. If there's reservation I notice it to be out of respect for other people, not because of some sort of sexual oppression.Quote:

One of the main reasons sex is in many ways a taboo topic is because of religion, Christianity in particular. Theories state that before Christianity had the place in society that it holds today, the main religions were Mother Nature worshipping religions. Sex was considered the ultimate act of Nature, and the only way for a man and woman to communicate with God. Sex was seen as something holy, or spiritual, and females were considered more attuned to Nature and man's spirituality than males. To demonise these religions Christianity portrayed sex as something horrible, something to be kept secret and hidden away from polite society. Of course Christianity is now the majority religion in many countries of the world, and even people who are not Christian still feel the effects of it in society.
In my opinion sex is the most Natural, beautiful act in Nature. It can also be considered an act of love, the ultimate union between man and woman. So why do people actually believe there is something wrong with it?
But I dont want to see it. Unless they're hot, lol. Seriously though, I dont want people's passions and sexuality to clutter my day. Im a sexual person, most people are quite sexual, and because of that sex is extremely distracting. If sex is not what you want your focus to be on, the last thing you need are several horny people of various ages fucking in front of you because "sex is beautiful." Sex is fine, but I like the images and events of my own sex life, I dont need images of others at various times that I didnt ask for. I dont need to be sexually excited by all these sexually open-minded people's passions either at times I didnt ask to be.
They're children. Sex has consequences. Tax-payers dont want to be paying for the mistakes of others. Now you're really off in fairy dust hippy-love land, dude.Quote:
Children are warned abouth having sex, and in many places it is illegal to have sex up until the ages of 16, 18, or even 21. But why is this? Surely something so natural, so essential for the survival of our race should not, could not be regulated by our governments?
The law makes it so you can charge the pedophile with the crime. What shit are you smoking, Ghost? ;)Quote:
Alot of people believe that these restrictions protect young adults or even children from sexual predators. I disagree. I don't think a rapist or paedophile, just about to attack a child, is going to stop and say "Oh, hang on, but they're only 15!" and then walk away.... Quite the contrary. What makes a paedophile a paedophile is the fact that they perfom these acts on people under the age limit of sexual consent. So what are these restrictions for?
Well, I kinda agree that they shouldn't be treating the 18 yr old boyfriend of the 16 year olf girlfriend as though he were a rapist or something. It's probably best not to piss off your girlfriends parents though... ;)Quote:
I know they can get a 16 year old guy in trouble for having sex with a 16 year old girl. They can get an 18 year old guy in trouble for having sex with a 17 year old girl. But what good do they do? We all know that many parents abuse their children, it's a sad fact of life. Alot of these sick bastards are caught and punished, but does restricting the age of sexual consent change this in any way? Surely common sense dictates when somebody is doing something wrong; we all have morals, we don't need the government to have morals for us. I imagine we could all tell when somebody is abusing a person as opposed to engaging in a consensual activity.
Wow. So there's self-sufficient, financially independant 14 year olds out there?Quote:
One thing these restrictions do is to further the feeling that sex is something wrong. I believe that the government should not be able to tell a person when they are ready to have sex; sexual maturity varies from person to person, and in some cases a 14 year old girl could be sexually mature, where as an 18 year old guy might not. If a sexually mature 14 year old wants to have sex then why should anybody, except her parents, be able or allowed to stop her? The same applies for a 14 year old guy. It really pisses me off that governments have taken it upon themselves to regulate and dictate every aspect of our lives... That goes for sex, drugs, anything.
If you arent financially independant enough to be able to handle the financial burden of a baby, you aren't mature enough to have sex and risk having a baby that I'll end up having to pay for because you think you're sexually mature. Pfft.
I gotta have some of whatever you're smoking Ghost. :P
I'm not smoking anything. :(
Wanna have sex? :)
:D
having laws that punish consensual sex between 2 people of the same age is rediculous. two 14 year olds, or two 16 year olds may not have the maturity to deal with a sexual relationship, but this is where we need to instill education and proper moral upbringing. nobody's not going to do it because it's illegal, they're not going to do it because they were raised to be responsible. sending kids to jail for having sex isn't going to change anyting, it's just going to ruin one more persons life because they weren't raised with morals and sense. besides, it's not like spending time in a prison full of social deviates is going to improve their views on sexuality, lets get real. Government, especially the US government, need to get off this childish illogical idea that you can just scare everybody into compliance with threats. it's the same mentallity that punishes us for having a toke in the privacy or our own homes.
LOL. Yes, yes I would like to have some of the sex. :DQuote:

More sex.
More sex in public.
More sex on tv.
More sex in the kitchen.
More sex between minors
More sex between 18 and 17 year olds.
More sex!
And thats all i have to say about that.
I know how having sex with somebody under 18 is statutory rape, but isn't there some rule where it's still ok if one person's under 18, one's above, but they're no more than 3 years apart?
The "age of consent" yes, here in Maine it is 14. A girl can marry at 14 with her parents consent also. A young man however has to be 18, odd what?
Your right Granma.Quote:

I highly doubt anyone 14 is ready for anything, I mean a part time job and school would really be an acomplishment. Never mind grabbing your ankles for a 30 year old guy you met at Burger King whos really cool and has a nice car and listens to your ideas.
