ok yea so i was pretty high... but, "sampson, i stick by my story!!!"
Yes, I think if humanity continues to do research into artificial technology we will make machines that are hardier and smarter than ourselves and we will be weeded out through natural selection. I think that just because a technology is possible doesn't mean we need it, especially in cases like this where the potential consequences include the extinction of our species. Better to stop research now while artificial intelligence is still unintelligent.
Nothing could ever replace a human brain. I don't think something could be built that thinks it's own thoughts, nothing artificial could do that. There are robots that are able to do what humans can do such as build things but that's because they've been programmed, they couldn't have their own random thoughts and go and do what they wanted. It's a scary thought though.
If the human brain is nothing but a bunch of chemicals, why couldn't a computer simulate all those chemical processes? It seems perfectly possible to me. It's just a good thing that we have virtually no clue about how thought and consciousness arise from all those chemicals and all our current AIs are just really complicated scripts. I'd like to believe that what makes us humans unique is some supernatural "soul", but I see no evidence for that and fear that a sufficiently complicated script might be able to replicate our behavior.

were screwed!!!! oh and it's supposed to happen in 2012.
actualy i was thinking on making a computer with a partical decetor capable of knowing the amount of THC in the air, thus playing the aporpiate music and visualisationsQuote:
