Truer words were never spoken! Plus some of the best bands of the '60s and '70s are bands nobody has ever heard of...all of those garage bands that did not make it.
If anybody needs a place to look for less crappy modern music, try the best public radio station in the world, KEXP 90.3 FM - where the music matters out of Seattle. Not everything they play will suit all tastes, but half of my cd collection is of stuff I heard there that I never would have known about otherwise. They stream live on the internet. I highly recommend the Saturday morning Reggae show, Positive Vibrations with dj...crap, stoner brain lock...Kid Hops, that was it.
The thing about old stuff--it will always sound better because it does not exist anymore. Even a lot of crappy songs from the '80s that I hated then are fun to dance to now...if nobody is looking. Shit, I'll even get down to some Captain and Tennille!

I personally like more than 3 power chords. So i loved the 60's and 70's.The 80's were pretty much 3 chords and no inovation.I've heard a few bands since then that i"ve liked. But the pickings are thin.

I think music has gotten more amazing now-a-days.
However people forget, there was crap back then, there's crap now.
Still you can't help but to blast to the past:
The Velvet Underground, The Clash, The Kinks, Bruce Springsteen, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Brian Eno, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Funkadelic, Marvin Gaye.
Those were the greats.

i like a lot of the good old music as well, but good music is still being recorded, and frankly i am tired as hell of people saying otherwise. the difference is you have to actively seek it out, which is kind of a bitch but youd think you would have learned by now that your local radio stations are going to play the same watered down shit. use your computer and word of mouth and youll hear some good bands who play it from the heart, no matter what type of music you like, there are jaw dropping talents across the board, so please dont lump all musicians of today together and try finding out about them before you condemn them, you ingrates.
the only guy who seems like he knows what hes talking about is the one who says theres crap now there was crap then. exactly. the difference is that most of the shit from the 70s that still receives airplay is the timeless shit and that is what you have heard of. and to be fair, better music was more mainstream back then, but there was plenty of pop and dogshit as well. no like ive been saying you have to actually make an effort, not abig one but an effort nonetheless to find good music.
