Opie Yutts is the only sane person here. The extreme consistency of hydro is exactly what I love it about it.Quote:

Here, here! Darn tootn, and stuff.
Kushette update? Or does she have her own thread now?
It's taken me a few days to get the problem identified but it comes down to my (hanna) meter being screwed up and giving me the incorrect ph on all my plants.......despite the fact that it calibrates dead on for both 7.01 and 4.01. I love that. :wtf:
It's been reading way low....I believe because of colder temps in the w/f buckets. I was finally able to figure it out by pulling out my OLD hanna and calibrating and working with that. (the "old" hanna is actually the better one but more of a hassle to use.)
The one taller Sour Northern Lights x Neville's Haze got hit the hardest. I actually was thinking nuteburn and the only reason I'm sure it isn't is because the leaves themselves are uncurling (from the bottom of the plant up) and raising back up slowly now that the ph has been corrected. If it WERE nuteburn....the leaves would dry up and die....as it is they are slow returning to normal.
I'll post another pic once they are done. They may not heal 100% but it will be pretty close even if they don't come back all the way.
The second SNL x NH....the shorter plant seems completely unaffected by the ph swings and problems. Same batch of seeds and exact same environment....who knows WHAT the hell they are thinking? :wtf:
I have a new ph meter on the way that i'm excited about...supposed to be the bees knees of ph meters. It will be WONDERFUL to be able to trust what the damn meter is telling me.
So I just got my brand new digital 400w ballast in the mail and have it up and running for the seedlings. I had a great reflector already so added a Dayton muffin fan (Rhizome's idea) and X-C (my electrical man :D) helped me wire it and its GREAT!!! The seedlings were a touch blown away by the brightness at first but are starting to want the light lower now.
The seedling on the left is a cotton candy (one of my favorites ) and the smaller one on the right is a Church plant (I've never tried the Church.....yet. :D)
All in all she is doing very well. She's got all the cfls now and I think she likes that.....doesn't seem overwhelmed by too much light or anything. She has lost a few leaves but I'm not sure if that's due to ph problems or just a normal part of this process since I haven't tried this before.
She has ONE lower branch that still "leaks" regularly. Everything else has stopped. I actually clamped a hemostat to the branch which worked to stop the water but then everything simply backed up to the higher branches (which had previously been dry) so I just keep changing the clip and paper towel and let it be.
I think she has had some ph issues as well but doesn't show it as much.....that's my thought anyway.
She HAS shed quite a bit of roots so the whole root mass HAS gotten smaller. HOWEVER....she really is NOT too far off from the root mass clogging that I got before so I'm beginning to wonder if I will have drill MORE holes in that bucket.....she has two side rows but that may not be enough. While I'd rather NOT drill into this plant the fact is she IS in my living room and there is NO WAY I can let this plant flood out in there.
That's a bummer about your PH meter. I've often wondered if both my PH and PPM pens are telling me the truth, but once you get a system down it doesn't matter if they are off, as long as they are consistent.
What's a muffin fan? Is that the little computer-type fan I see in the photo? And is the hood open and the hot air blows out the bottom?
Looks like the reveg still has promise. It is normal for some leaves to get yellow and fall off. That's why you want to make sure you leave enough leaves when you are cutting the plants back. Also if your nutes aren't quite right she can eat herself to survive.
Its REALLY frustrating with the ph crap....hopefully the new meter will solve my problems with it.
The reflector is actually the one I used for my 1kw light until I got my cool tube. There's glass at the bottom of the reflector so the little fan is actually pulling the air through the vents on the other side and straight accross.
The 400w really has very little heat compared to the 1k. What lighting do you have Opie?
Weedhound my friend always an education when I read your logs. How you knew I was considering flowering & re vegging my bonsai mother I have been working on I don't know. But I will be following your re veg with interest. By the way if thats what you serve for Sunday dinner set me out a plate I'll be over this weekend ;-)
