The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
sounds like a fun competition, maybe i will join in. a friend of mine just got a lot of seeded bud so i have around 50 seeds right now! might as well try one out (altho it could turn male...then no bud at all :( )
the strain is grapefruit X columbian red....should be pretty sweet plants!! Ruby Red...lol

no flamers pleez. this is a demonstration of the ability the plant has to adapt to inadequate environments. an experiment for fun. if you don't like the idea, don't participate, and steer clear of this thread.
thanx, and have a nice j :)
i dont enjoy being called a flamer....nor do i think anyone would..... if my post was to be taken seriously, it would have been stated.

the term "flamer" in this scenario means, harbringer, badmouther, etc. i meant no disrespect, only that pessimism is not wanted in this thread. this is not a yeild or health experiment, but one to see the survival ability of the plant. if you'd like to join, please do; we'd love to have you. if you don't want to try it, and can't offer any optimistic and/or freindly words, then please, don't post.
i've nothing against you jack, never have. my bad if you took my statement the wrong way. i just have a tendency to take words for what they're worth... and the statement of "murdering you while you sleep" is, imo, both threatening and insulting.
i hope we can call it even, and move on to bigger, better, and more peaceful topics of converstation:)

well if u think a plant is actually going to murder you in your sleep then i dunno haha, i had nothing against this thread, was just poppin in pretty much to say hi, I also was wondering what specifics you guys were looking for in results.
forget the flammer comment.... but around me thats more of an insult then anything but i see where ur comming from.

The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I wish i could try this, when i move out i am gonna do this for sure. How long would it take to grow a joint?
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
about 11-18 weeks from seed, 8-14 weeks from clone.
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
i wish i had soil, i just got some decent bag seeds. this would be a fun to watch grow or die... i dunno lol, u guys really think there gonna get oxygen to the roots once they become big enough?
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I'm in! I'm also curious to see what kind of results can be achieved... I'll post some pics here when i get the ball rolling... shouldn't be more than a day or so.
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I would love to see some more images of current grows! Lets see that progress!

I'm in.... got alot of seeds to germ, planted 2 last nite. one popped the seed this morn. everyone should read up on bonzai growing methods. this is what we're doing.

sweetie, those are the wisest words i've seen today. you just earned yourself some rep
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
This shot glass was brought all the way from Ireland, just for this. . .lol. I don't know if it's an ounce though. I got 2 seeds germing, and Ill get some pics. in as soon as there is something to see. . .
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I'll throw in rep for that
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
Man, one of my seeds started cracking like crazy as soon as it touched water. . .
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
stupid question, but from where did u tranplant it to the shotglass? why not just plant the germinated seed right into the glass with soil in it?

weve all seen weeds growing up through cracks in the side walk, this is the same principle.
rules:
you must use a 1 oz shot glass
the shot glass must be clear, for honor system
you may veg for 5 days before going to 12-12
you must stay on a 12-12 schedule from the beginning
you may use just rooted clones or beansprouts only
that's it, pretty self explanatory... all are invited to this whacky challenge. so lets see those shots!
this one rooted a few days ago, i pulled it up and transplanted into a shot. i'll give it a day or two to get over the shock, then into the flower room she goes. strain is dreamgoddess.

The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I say start from a seed, you can put a very long clone in a shot glass. . .

i rooted my cutting in dirt, waited for yellow tips, then gently pried it up and planted in a shot glass, root ball was the size of a small marble
this clone is currently three and a half inches tall

yes, but note in the rules; the clone must be just rooted...
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I could use mine, but its my only clone, lol. . . Anyway I already started the seeds. . . I'll catch up, hope they dont just die when the roots get to big. . .
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
mine is fine at a week in flower, roots are just hitting the bottom, seven weeks left.
i think it'll make it...
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I think starting from a seed doesn't give it enough time to mature. . . If I see that mine gets root bound I am going to have to transplant, i don't want to see it die. Maybe, I will transplant it to an old bong I don't use anymore, that would be funny. . .
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
i'm thinking of doing one on a cake pan, one inch tall
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
interesting, I have done a shoe box before.
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
i have a strain (trainwreck) that grows very viney and limpy, requiring staking, even in veg.
i've been toying with the idea of a hanging basket pot plant :p
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
Thats crazy I heard about someone doing that hanging pot idea here with Trainwreck. . . crazy. . . I like just heard that maybe 3 days ago. . .Great minds.
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
realy, can you find a link?
tw is great stuff, i just hate how floppy and limp it it is... i like my plants like i like my men. assertive, strong, and erect... :D
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
No link, I was just talking to a grower, and he said that TW is perfect to just hang on a palm tree and just chill. We were talking about easy ways to grow and not get caught. This guy is wild, he had some plants growing on the side of a cliff for a while. He gets off on the whole guerilla aspect of growing. . .lol, nice analogy

The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
Here's the scoop folks....
Went ahead and germ'd 5 aurora indica earlier today, they were getting old so i figured this was a perfect use for them!
I noticed there are two general types of shot glasses, small and medium. I have a small shot glass but the trouble is when 1oz. of medium is placed inside it isn't quite full (i mean, it's almost full! optimism!). I have an old 4oz. clone measuring cup that i cut down to 1.3oz for this contest!
I have decided to fill the plastic container to the 1oz. line and fill the shot glass all the way to the top, which may hold an additional 25-35% more medium.
I decided to plant two seedlings to increase my odds of a female. My current grow is 2 weeks into 12/12, so this should work out perfectly! I have never put a seedling into 12/12 from the start, i'm interested to see the results from seed.
Here are some pictures so you get the idea of the sizes i was referring to....
Oh yeah, for those of you thinking "Hey, using more medium is cheating!", i suggest you go as far as i did and actually measure the medium cause the shot glass i have is very small - 1oz. of medium filled it 3/4 full! Anywho, i plan to set the most promising seedling in the 1oz. container to keep within the rules. :)
Happy growing folks!

The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
good job. but i'm like, realy realy jealous right now... i'm using back burners, blueberry beans, and dreamgoddess clone... but aurora? man....i wish you'd have told me... i'd have found them a very loving home for you :D
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
I have yet to try my hand at blueberry! What i have seen/heard is that it is a medium difficulty strain, mostly indica!
What you see in the flower box there are 4 strains currently 2 weeks into 12/12! White widow, bubblelicious, purple cheese and top44! 9 plants total.
When i add the two for this contest it will look comical in comparison. :)
The aurora seeds are from at least two years ago, and boy were they delicious. 'Bout time i got rid of 'em!
I'd love to see more pics of other ppl's setup for this thread!

i was just pondering that shouldn't you have some sort of drainage holes at the bottom of your shot glass to prevent roots rotting
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
i don't use pots with holes; if you water correctly, they aren't needed, imo...

I'm thinking the containers are so small that they will dry up quickly with no need for drainage.
May even need to water more than once a day towards the end!
-
The 1 oz. Shot Glass Grow Competition.
if they make it to the end. I have a shot glass but no time to tend to my plants as is so maybe after this harvest I'll jump in.

So many females around here that grow. I feel like i joined adultfriendfinder for growers!!
Woo!!!
Take it off!!!
