These are recent updates
Heres some bonus pics, this grow is coming along very well. The stretch and internodal growth wasnt as wild as the previous grow, which overwhelmed my little box. The use of the bottles as pots, and the addition of the screen really helped tame these wild girls. I'm not sure what my yield will be when all is said and done, but I'm hoping its ready for at least a new years puff. The last two pics are the tops of the lowest nodes. They are about 14" below the screen. They look pretty good for not getting the amount of light as the top buds.
just took these today, i'm also down to just superthrive in the water. they're using about a gallon of water every 2 days:thumbsup:
here's this weeks prograss report:thumbsup:
the first two pics are from the top of the screen, the last is under the screen
After last weeks photo session, I decided to go ahead and remove the fluorescents and go with my 150w hps. I had come into possesion of an air cooled hood awhile back, so I decided to give it a go. The fan cooling the hood is a 130 cfm axial fan. The hps has really thickened up the buds, and the hood is way better than my homemade setup. The heat and light are dispersed much more efficiently.
For reasons unrelated to trichrome color, I decided to harvest my scrog, I'm trimming and and destroying the trim at the moment. I'll post more details and pics later. At the moment I'm tripping on the amount of bud and I have a ways to go on my trimming
I still got to dry and cure my bounty, but it looks so cool. The HPS really amped up the buds. The next grow will have the hps from the beginning of flowering for sure.
some diff pics, the hanging buds, and some 'popcorn'
Looks like a nice little Xmas treat,,, Have you tried any of it yet even wet ina pipe or bong?
kd
i dried a little bud under a light, and gave it a try, very piney, not harsh, felt really lethargic. I want to really dry it out and cure it without picking at it too much though. One of my goals was to fill this jar full of bud, I think I may have accomplished that.
if i were you i'd let more air get to those buds...
Happy to report that my buds are drying nicely and about 2 days away from going into jars for some curing. I think its very important to cure the bud nicely, especially badseed surprise. I will be smoking some for new years eve though. The buds seem to be retaing alot of their density, and are nice and compact, even the 'popcorn'. I'm very happy with my results. Oh, abbatoir, I have the buds drying in a ventilated cabinet with a homemade carbon scrubber.
heres some photos to check out, first my homemade carbon scrubber, scrubbing away, some bud pics and some bud ina dirty pipe. the popcorn bud that i have in one of my jars now, I weighed it with a finger scale and it weighed in at about 32 grams give or take a gram or 2 with baggy. still have the buds drying nicely and looking nice and dense and crystally.
:smokin: Just a pic of what I'm working on at the moment.
Heres some photos of my new cabs progress. I had to slightly tilt my reflector to get it to fit. At the moment I have a 130 cfm fan cooling the the hood which is enough for the 150w hps. This closet/cab has far more potential than anything else I have done to this point.
Heres a pic of a male plant. I had to backtrack through this thread, to get an idea of when I started this plant and I'm going to assume I planted the seed to this one about 10/1/2006. I kept up very little with this plant since I started it. I remember starting this dude in a pot with previously used soil that had also sprouted a male. As the months progressed this poor guy suffered from obvious ph problems, and also didnt like being watered much. When I decided to repot it about 2 months ago, I put it in a 3 gallon bag about half full with soil and topdressed it with lime pellets(all I could find). The lime helped big time with the ph and supplemental magnesium and calcium and the grow bag let it drain off alot better. The plant began to show some vigor and life and I wasnt too sure of the preflowers. About 2 weeks ago I decided to go lights out for 3 days and then resume in 11/13, till it began to show sex. When I checked it a few days ago it was definitely showing its balls and I wanted to let it continue. When I checked today, it had really developed the sacks, so I decided to take some pics and write a little story. This dude will be meeting his fate soon.
What I can gather from the past couple of months about this plant, is that its a tough hombre, a very light feeder, very low odor, no mutant resin production. Now I havnt grown a whole lot of plants in my time but from what I can tell, the only redeeming quality this male may have is that it didnt stretch much, the only stretch was the dong on top and that was it. Oh well, that was another good learning experience. I've been fortunate in the last couple of months that I have scored some good bags of weed with some seeds in em that I have set aside for my next grow which I'll be starting........NOW! Laters buds!
that cab looks nice i hope when i build mine it looks as nice as that (- the hps)
helo buds, just thought i'd let ya'll in on what i've been up. A few weeks back i started some bagseeds in some makeshift pots, well since then i've transplanted some into 10" pots and growbags. some of the transplants didnt make it and those that did, suffered. but i'll continue with them to see what comes of them. since i had a little room in my new cab to put some other stuff, i decided to start a little bubble hydro setup again along with the soil. heres some pics of what the cab looks like. I'm just gonna go with 12/12 lighting schedule from start to finish, no vegging. I'll explain my latest hydro bubble setup in my next reply. Oh and I have a nice 400w hps now in my air cooled hood, just need a slightly stronger fan to cool that bad boy off. I also repositioned my fan, so I can raise my hood higher.
heres my little bubble setup, I use the bottoms of my 6 inch pots to line the bottom of my 3 gallon tub. the bottoms of the pots make good "channels" for the air stones. I didnt have any hydroton to fill the bottom of my pots like I wanted to and I didnt want to get any at the moment. so I filled the bottoms of the pots with about 1 inch of perlite, that helps get plenty of oxygen to the roots. then I'm using a really airy mixture of potting soil and perlite as my medium. 3 to 1 perlite to soil. and i'm starting with tap water with superthrive, and once the medium has soaked up some water i'll drop in some seeds and wait for something to happen. I've never ph'ed any of my grows, but I plan on getting a tester soon. and there you go, now lets hope for a girl or 3
I opened up my cab yesterday and to my surprise, there they were. 2 seedlings from my hydro had sprouted and 1 had not yet and my soil plants turned out males. 3" male plants. They were stinky little shits to boot. I should have taken pics but I just didnt. Oh well. With the extra room in the cab, I put in another bubble setup with some seeds my wife and I called "creeping death". The first bubble setup has some seeds from a bag of some reddish sticky bud, that had a nice taste and high. We havnt come up with a name for that one yet.
Alrighty folks, I finally got my ph kit in and let me tell you, it surely has opened my eyes to another whole aspect of growing. Both of my tubs tested around the 8.5 to 9 range. I added one tsp. of ph down to each tub. I'm going to retest later in the day, so as to give it some time to adjust. In the meantime, I decided to run a rough test of what my ph is from the tap. What I got was about a 6.5. Now this is based purely on what I perceive to be a match to the color chart. After adding one tsp. of superthrive I retested the ph, and found it to be about 7.25-7.5. I proceeded to add two tbsp. of mother earth bloom tea and tested again and I gathered this one to be about 7-7.25. With Cal Mag plus added the ph tested about 7. For each test I used three drops of ph test fluid. Before I put up my testing stuff, I decided to test one more time after adding one tsp of ph down. The solution tested at 5.75-6. Strong stuff. I wont test the solution again till I have to use it, which will be awhile. Oh before I forget, I used a gallon of water.
heres my only babies, my chances are slim of getting a female, but, oh well. I've been vegging these with my 400w enhanced hps. It's pretty cool. They're nice and short and very nody. I like the fat leaves.
OK, just a little update for the buds, my 2 3 week old subjects are useless males. They are somewhat smelly and sticky though, I've already destroyed one of the subjects in my blender. I'm trying my hand at hash making. I'm gonna do some searching regarding pollen storage, this looks like some decent genetics to work with. STAY POSITIVE BITCHES.
just dropping in to say whats up. I am currently doing absolutely nothing with my cabs, though, they are in a semi ready state. Just waiting and plotting my return.
here's two little 2 week old seedlings, and I've just popped four more beans in the bubbler setup, hoping for females, temps have been really good, I had some ph problems at the beginning, but i've since resolved that. I have this in my "little" cab. Its way more stealthy than my big cab, which btw, is still being worked on, nothing elaborate, just some ventilation and filtration stuff.
heres a little update, just vegging away, problaly be poppin some more beans this weekend, one of em is looking like a male
Looking good cMan, looking good! :)
well, just got done destroying my plants again, more fucking male plants
Well, heres another plant, which I believe is showing female tendencies but may herm. When I started my previous 2 plants on their 11/13 light schedule, this one was about a week or two old, so its had an early blooming period along with a week of 14/10 under my 400w enhanced hps. It seemed to split itself without me topping or accidently breaking off the top. Its developing some nice node sites. I'm going back to bloom with this one tomorrow and if it shows to be a female, I'll definitely be taking some clones.
Well, i had some guests over for the last few days and i wasnt able to check on my babies until today. When I last checked my baby she was looking like a lady, so I took some cuttings and put in em a bubbler with a little superthrive. After my guests had taken their leave, I immediately checked my ladies since it was close to lights off for my main flowering plant. I wasnt able to get a photo in time, but my main lady is flowering nicely, woohoooo! The cuttings are a little small but they're looking good and progressing nicely through the rooting process. If all progresses well, I will put two of the clones in flower and keep one as a mother plant. I will be making slight mods to my cabs, and when I get a chance I will post some pics.
here she is folks, plus my scrubber, she's a smelly one
Just some pics, she seems to be stretching an inch a day, shes got some nice dense foliage. She is at the moment 16 inches. The air cooled hood allows me to put the light close to the tops, even with the slight tilt. This is the first baby that I will flower with my enhanced 400w hps. Every plant I've thrown under this light has shown some great alternating nodes, even though they were all males.
just an update of the stretch, shes at 21 1/2 inches so far
heres some pics of my clones
heres a few photos of my budding girl. Her ph was a little high but that was quickly resolved.
One thing about using 3" net pots is there is not a whole of stability with the plant when it stretches beyond a foot, now that my baby has surpassed the 2' mark and has many side nodes, I had to add a little mod to help stabilize my lady. I wouldnt want to open my box oneday and find her fallen over with broken roots.
An update of my clones. The mother plant they came from was not finishing well, so I ended it. I changed my reservoir setup to these 2 gallon buckets and the seem to be doing the trick. My previous setup seemed to be overwhelmed by the plant. I cut off alot of side nodes so the plant can focus more of its energy on the nodes I kept. Theres a pic as well of my work in progress 5 gallon LST project.
