I'm a piercing tattoo nerd as well.
I have had my Tragi (both) pierced like..numerous times. With A 16g CBR each time. Never worked out for me...grew out each time.
I still have my industrial on my right ear though...2 rooks....my left conch...and a helix cartilage piercing left on my ears. Not counting me 7 lobe piercings..
I might do my 12g conch again..I dunno though...I am pretty fuckin' poor and I dealt with that piercing for a good year and a half...
