The whole argumment is pointless.
If there is a god or not how does that change where we are now, and where we are going as a whole.
If gods true we are going downhill.
If god is fake we are going downhill.
The farther we advance the farther behind were leaving whats really important.
People are still give up whats important so they can have a fast car, a huge house, and the biggest pool.
Was any one born dreaming of being on MTV cribs?
Does any one rember what they really wanted as a kid...
Wich is when many belive you are closest to any divine power there may be?
All you really wanted as a child was to be happy, and that was enough.
you didnt need new 27'' rmis that spin to feel good either.
God or no god it dosent change a thing.
we are all born to live and give life.
Now we are all born to get rich and give life maybee.

our forfarthers and our children's children we never going to get a answer. so i ask myself, what is sin that god has appionted death unto man because of its nature and caused him to have a back turned towards us? people ask why god let this and god let that happen but really we let it happen, that thing we was born in causes this. the very thing that speaks against his rightiousness. people expect him to be man like, like when provoked gota prove himself or when under pressure gota make something happen. the mind that put man kind together gota be so dam wise because to create a life that can reproduce itself just like itself yet not like itself is beyond brilliant. but im just saying, life couldnt be..........just by chance or evolution
Cheebahawk, I'm not going to bothering arguring this any further with you. But for god sake (just an expression now), you're convincing nobody when all your arguments are based on what you have decided is possible and not possible.
I'd advise you to read a ( more recent) book on evolution as well, it may not seem so impossible with a little more understanding. And if you're so certain it isn't possible, then you'll have lost nothing and gained a little knowledge to further your future arguments.
Have a good one.

indeed, im not trying to convince you and i respect your thoughts and words. and we are not arguing just sharing our thoughts on a matter. i know about evolution but evolution to me just is another tool that denies god's handy work. im just asking a question that nobody has really answered. why dosent evolution happen everyday? why only at a piont in time but yet it has bin givin the power of being a radom thing that happens. as far as i know i havent seen anything evolve, only butterflys and frogs. why dosent the gazel evolve to a bird to get away from lions since its the enviorment that helps this to happen? and the only thing of man that has evolved is his ideas, but man himself remains the same. if it is so it shouldnt just happen at one piont in the earths existance it should happend everyday just like the growth of plants and the change of wether and so forth..people know in their hearts that this is too well put together to be by chance. bone in flesh, seed after its own kind, air that fills the lungs, plants that uses sun light for growth..i dont know but thats too radom to me..anyhow, good talking man it was nice to hear what you had to say...smoke and enjoy your day...later

Answer? No to the first question, yes to the second, the third is 'maybe' depending on how it's interpreted. But just because I can or can't do something doesn't mean all those groovy things came about the way a Hebrew mythology said they did. Do you believe the Earth rests on the back of a great turtle? That's one culture's mythology. How about many gods? The Old Testament acknowledged the existence of more than one god if you read it closely. El and Baal were originally brothers in the old myths. Moses just happened to take up with El.
But really, if you want to believe in a Designer you're prefectly free to do so. As for me I'll go with what is most rational to the best of mankinds knowledge. Ya see I'm big on 'Truth'...and if the truth is that there is an Original Designer, I have no problems changing my mind. Could you say the same if the Truth is that there is no Designer? Because the rational facts are all pointing in that direction.
sure if ther is no designer and that turns out to be the truth then i accept it, i'll still be confused but if thats the root of life on earth then shure i'll just have to accept it. i respect your resoning and thoughts..indeed, if its so then let it be

No, it is not a case of the clay pot denying the existence of a potter. It is a case of the potter denying the existence of a potter-maker. Humans are the result of billions of years of natural selection; all our specialized body parts and behaviors are the result of countless generations of beings that were successful at passing on their genes, because they could survive and reproduce. If you ask me, that is a far more astonishing and wonderous answer than pretending some magical sky wizard just made us on a whim. I just don't see how people are so amazed by the "God did it" hypothesis. Evolution is way more exciting, explanatory and well, backed up by real solid evidence too.
So we don't have any more "purpose" of being here than a rock or an electron does. Big deal. That just means we have the freedom to define our own purpose in life.

At least we can both agree on one thing cheebahawk, everybody needs to start respecting each other and understanding, rather than arguing. And I think I too fell into the trap that most do, that being turning a conversation into an argument, the difference being working at a victory rather than an exchange of ideas. That being said, I'll try to communicate instead of argue.
On the matter of evolution, I can tell you that nobody has ever witnessed evolution. Evolutionists themselves do not believe that anybody has ever witnessed it, because it is not something that happens to any living organism during their life. I think the movie "X-men" (while an enjoyable movie) has done a great disservice to evolution in this respect, portraying the idea that it's just something that happens to organisms every so many years. The point is, evolution is something that happens over millions (even billions) of years at microscopic levels, at our genetic code.
An antalope turning into a bird just can't happen, and has no reason to since antalope are already the finished product of a species which has adapted to its environment. I'm not an expert in evolution, but I'll make up a little imaginary piece just for the sake of example (A bit long, but I'd appreciate it if you read it, it'll give you a much better idea where I'm coming from):
under the ocean there's a group of these little squishy creatures about the size of my thumbnail. Every one of these creatures has a genetic code, and as is known, every so often one will eventually give birth to an offspring with a genetic mutation. One may mutate so as to a have growth on its back, and this will not have offspring because such a growth is unattractive to potential mates, hence leaving the genetic pool. Another may mutate so as to be born with a weaker immune system, and so it'll die and not pass on its genes.
But one luckly little creature will be born with a calcium deposit on its back. no big deal really, except this little calcium deposit poses as no disadvantage and so it goes on to breed, adding to the gene pool. Soon many of these creatures are born with the little calcium deposit that has been passed on, and it has in fact protected them from injury over the area it grows on. Since these little guys have a bit of an extra edge in being protected, they survive more than the rest and continue to pass on their genes more than the rest. These genes, which are already programmed to grow calcium deposits on their backs, will be more prone to mutate in a way causes more buildup of calcium on their back. So, every generation after the last that has a mutation will be more likely to mutate so as to have bigger calcium deposits, and thus more external protection. Eventually, this process will continue over a few million years until their entire race is completely covered in a calcium shell protecting them from enemies. And so, the squishy little creatures a few million years ago have evolved into what we call today a clam. Yet, nobody once saw one of these little guy suddenly turning into a clam.

Hey cheeb , try www.talkorigins.org , www.evilbible.com , www.fallacyfiles.org your guilty of about 30 of the aforemtioned fallacies. If your god is true then so is Zeus, Ra and every other fantastical "faith is only needed". If you believe god will provide so well go live in a cave and avoid all science. After all gravity is simply a theory just like evolution so perhaps if you believe hard enough you can float off earth (what? you cant....? says volumes doesnt it....)
I detect someone who thinks scientists "planted" those bones just to make money....Fundie radar , beep beep beep.
By the way devious I know we've had words on this issue before (and I like your stance and buddhism in general to be perfectly frank) But I dont feel the need to respect someones belief's when they tell me to close my eyes put my fingers in my ears and just go "lalalalalala" and believe everything some random monotheistic based "group" says is true. To me faith is just another word for ignorance coupled with fear.
