Glass for air cooled hood?
so you have your's sealed around where the glass is, and then you have another outlet for air to go out of, Zandor? i too have another outlet to let the air through, but I was told it was good to have it pressurized? so you have 2+ fans for your room, right? one for pusing air through hood, and then one to suck out hot air? prob another one to bring in air too?

A piece of plastic food wrap would be good enough if your ventilation system is good enough. I wouldn't recomend this though. The point is the glass should not get that hot if you do it right, so it won't matter what kind of glass you use. You could use plexiglass if your plants can touch the glass, and they should be able to or you've done something wrong.

Zandor has a big blower blowing the air threw his lights.
And an exhaust fan hooked up to dampers to recycle the co2 back into the room.
Then it switches everyonce in a while to suck the air out.
Can't remember seeing an intake fan?

There was no fresh air in I used CO² and A/C. The plant makes itâ??s own Oxygen as a by-product of the chlorophyll process. You have the blower that was the air in on the lights you are using. The exhaust side was pumped out the roof through a vent pipe. You have my blower box how is that working for you now dog?
There were one blower for the lights and one mounted in the ceiling to exchange and scrub the air. It ran all the time 24/7 and scrubbed the air and returned it to the room. When I needed to exhaust the CO² there were dampers on the roof that switched between air return and air out. The carbon scrubber was in the ceiling so odor was not a problem.

damn, u must have had a serious grow going on...
i'm pulling my through, completely sealed off so it's presurrized, and no grow room air gets in, and then i have the dryer ducting that is connected to an a/c vent 30+ ft away dropping in cold air...
this weekend i am going to go and get a carbon scrubber w/ fan, and cut another hole in the ceiling and let that pull smelly/stale air out..
the way i got it now, has got my temps at whatever i have my house a/c set at.. :)
never thought about blowing it through....

Many times with single strength glass when you are changing out a burned out bulb and the glass is still warm it will break while you slide it in or out. The double strength glass is much thicker and stronger and just as easy to find.
But to answer your original question yes even single strength glass will work and you know the down side of it as well.
makes sence really why settle for second best when ya can ave the best
cheers all :)

I had a quick question.... I have a hood with glass. A 4" hole on each short end. I'm not planning to cool it. Is it ok to leave the glass in and not be cooled/exhausted? I have no idea what type of glass this is. Sorry for the neub question.
Glass for air cooled hood?
yeah, but the only purpose i could see that doing is protecting the bulb.. but it shouldn't mess anything up, or take away from anything..

It does create too much heat.
And blocks too many lumans.
Take the glass off if you arent cooling it.
I'm in the proccess of moving Zandor.
So that blower is just chilling at the moment.
Not sure if I can use it were I am moving.
It might be too load.
We'll see.
I was going to hook thing up this way...
carbon scrubber, light, blower out into the attic.
My blower is a 465 cfm blower.
So I THINK this will be enough power.
I'll keep it as close to the exhaust as possible.
Hopefully I can just use the big one.
That way I could use both lights.
We'll see.
I just got the place!!!!Moving tomorrow!!!

If it's the room then you suck the air out of the room.
