    Glass for air cooled hood?

I would like to find out what type of Glass is to be used for a air cooled hood?
I use a 400wt system, and would like to protect the bulb from water when i
mist my plants with a sprayer.
I am guessing normal glass for a window will prolly not be good enough for the high temps.
    Cheers,
    Chef.

    Glass for air cooled hood?

hey man , i have been having major heat issues w/ my 1000w , w/ an air cooled, and i went to the hydro shop this weekend and they ended up convincing me to buy the glass ( tempered glass ), and DAMN does it make a difference.. i sealed it all around w/ duct tape so that it's pressurized, and it makes the world of a difference..

NOT True.... window glass will work for even 1000 w bulbs. As long as you have air going them single strength glass is fine. It's better to get double strength glass only for the fact that it takes a beating better then single does by far. Many times with single strength glass when you are changing out a burned out bulb and the glass is still warm it will break while you slide it in or out. The double strength glass is much thicker and stronger and just as easy to find.

But to answer your original question yes even single strength glass will work and you know the down side of it as well.

I assume the term duct is the foil tape like the one that is used in heat ducts right and not the cloth type?

Cool dude I seal mine too to keep the hot air in so the blower can move it out easer.

    Glass for air cooled hood?

    Thanks for the info guys.
I will get temperd Glass for the hood now, and seal it with duct tape.
At the moment , I am growing in the atic and the temps get into the high 90s
cause in summer its like a sauna up there. What about air coolers ,do they work?
I have a 200mm intake & 200 mm out fan, and osculating fan and a dihumidifirer
all under a 400wt system. I do run the lights when the sun goes down, to try and keep the temps down.My last grow Oasis from Dutch passion(feminised) turned into hemafridites and i got a crap yeild, but loads of seeds. never again will i buy feminised seeds.I am now growing White Widow(boring) .
And 1 last thing,Training or pruning? witch is the best for indoor growing.
I find training a lot of work and you end up with lots of stems and buds everywhere. If i prune to have 4 main stems and leave it to grow then is this recomended?

    Thanks for the help people,

    Cheers,
    Chef.

    Glass for air cooled hood?

Just wondering, do you suck the air out or push the air in when you seal the hood?
I was going to suck the air out, is this right?
    Tks,
    Chef.

If it's a sealed hood it's better to push the air through. Sucking the air can in most blowers cause a pressure problem and they may not get up to full speed and run as freely as they should and that will produce heat in the motor.

If it's the room then you suck the air out of the room.
