Mobay - what did your moisture meter cost you? I've heard the cheapies die out really easily but haven't actually seen any evidence of this.
I HAVE ONE FROM RITE-AID. COST $7.99Quote:

Simply insert probe into wet soil and the needle will register the moisture reading. Instantly tells you when to water your plants. Helps prevent over watering. Ideal for plants grown in window boxes, pots, hanging baskets or growbags. No batteries required.

Boyznus, I was always wondering about that. That cracks me up.
This entire forum is like a big show with a bunch of different skits in characters.
..Ok, I need to lay off of this brown shit. I swear to god it's been sprayed with something to get past the border and I think it's giving me an extra "numbness".
Or it's some kind of new, brown strain that looks and tastes just like shwag.
I'm done.
They have mini hydro kits like that one thing. They are cool. 10 bucks each.
But what if you put that things pump into something else/ Like a bigger resivour. Or cut it's bottom off and put it in a bigger container?
I don't know. I's have to see it. But at least then it would be able to water more.
Anyway...I lift it for wieght. Stick my finger in it for wetness.
And I also get to know my plant in a curtasin way that is hard to explain.
I look at it when it's thirsty. And remember how it looks. That way I can tell when it needs water by looking at it. Plus I know them on a deeper level then that too. I'm sure a few of you guys know what I mean.
Those meters are cool. I'm thinking of getting one. Just so I can get more specific with my watering.
Building a self waterer is easy.
All you need is a big rubber made container(Painted dark blue or some color you can't see light threw)
a submersible pump and a timer
Connect a tube to the pump and run it to your plants.
Set timer.
HERE'S A PIC OF THE WATERER CONTROL. VERY, VERY SIMPLE. EVEN I CAN WORK IT.
