yeah i believ you on that note, the area i'm growing in is about 3 feet long idk i guess you can descrbe it like a small small closet, i mean i'm in a dorm here so i don't want the world really knowing why i have lights pertruding out of every spot in my room. I have a roomy so i can't take up a huge area you know?
is HID better then HPS and what does HPS stand for?

HID = High Intensity Discharge... they include HPS (High Pressure Sodium) and MH (Metal Halide). Most ppl will tell you HPS is used for flowering and MH is used for veg...

When i went into HD i went to buy a HPS light but i don't have the set up for it with the ballest but do i have to rewire somethign new to get more power or do i just buy something with the correct ballest and plug it in my wall?
for now i moved my CFL closer to the plants and im hoping that i can get something mostlyu experience with my 1st grow even if they are all males. Then maybe i can upgrade a lot more if not during this grow. It's abotu 2 weeks in so far on the 1st plants and about a week and a half on the second, hopefully i can get a pic or 2 up here son for you to look at and comment on

just a piece of advice... for growing Home Depot SUCKS!!!! I tried there first, since they are obviously the easiest.... not happening! The HPS and MH lights they have there are not the right type. Most of them are for outdoor motion lights... What you need to do is find the closest hydroponics store, (thats what I did). In most places there is atleast one within drivable distance... just look them up online.
If a hydro store (or similar) is unavailable in your area, then that sucks... in that case stick with tons of fluoros and just keep adding more.
peace and best of luck,

You can buy them online if you have to. Just so you know, MH systems cost around $150, and HPS costs around $200. For a dorm room grow, you might want to stick with fluoros. They are cheaper, cooler, and safer.
By the way, I don't suggest growing in a dorm room. Everyone in your hall is going to smell it once it starts flowering. The fire department does random searches during fire drills. Your roomate IS going to find out (not sure if you're trying to keep it secret). When I lived in a dorm room, I started a plant in my room, and moved it to a good location outside once it was a foot tall.

Are you trying to keep this a secret from your roommate? Just so you know, he IS going to find out.
Also, your entire hall is going to find out once they smell it. Plus, the fire department does random searches during fire drills. I highly suggest getting a fluorescent or 2 and then moving the plant outside once its a foot tall.

well i'm in a "dorm room" ha ha but over here i'm in a apartment type of room with my room being dorm room sized, my roommate knows but doesn't care i'm goign to get a few more fluros to make it easy i mean i already started with them and schools almost done so i think by the time it starts flowering i'l be home and in the comfrot zone i guess, besides isn't it too col out for then this time of the year?
