Trying to find you to discuss your theory of people who use lumens don't know what they are talking about.

Why do you refer to the watts as being more important than the lumens and why do you lumens matter not to plant life?

HPS 400 Watt (50,000 Lumens),
HPS 250 Watt (27,500 Lumens),
HPS 150 Watt (16,000 Lumens),

the 1000 watt bulb gives 140 lumens per watt

the 2-600's give 153.3333333333 lumens per watt...


600's seem to be the choice of 4 out of 5 growers with nice teeth...

Sorry dude but the math does not work like that. It power dude and power is log rhythmic not proportional. 92,000 is still 92,000 you can't add them up and say they share the same space thus give you double the results. 600w lights will still degrade just like any other bulb will. They still have the same par watt sorry but the math is solid and true.
You donâ??t need to move them and they will cover a good area and yes they put out less heat. If you deal with the heat the 140,000 lumens on a track mover is hard to beat.

Let me get this clear so even a moron like me understands....

If I have a 5,000 lumen bulb....@55W

and i have 10 of them............

I do not have 50,000 lumens.....

I still have only 5,000 lumens....

But I am now using 550W to produce 5,000 lumens?

Under this math, the more lights I place in there, the less lumens per watt i get?

This simply doesnt make sense....

I understand the lumen do not add up...but according to the scenario described.....my lumens are no higher than the single highest lumen output bulb?

Now what happens when I place these other 9 bulbs that dont add up in the lumen equation...say on the underside of the plant and on the sides.

Do the lumens count then?

I am totally confused....but I am not yet stoned either so that could explain why.

I have a real winter affliction of Seasonal Affective Disorder.

It was either Lithium or light therapy....I opted for the light therapy AND Lithium :)

This is how I got into lights to begin with, far prior to growing.

I bought a light unit from people who specialize in duplication of sunlight thru artificial light in wintertime. It is badly needed as sunlight produces Vitamins and stuff in the human...

I have a unit that diplaces 23,000 LUMENS at 2 feet. This is as advertised. They said yes, if I placed it within 1 foot from me, I would be getting 46,000 lumens.

The deal is, it has 5 bulbs. So, even if I took out 4 bulbs, I would still have 23,000 lumens at 2 feet or 46,000 lumens at one foot.

IS THIS CORRECT?

If yes, the light would be no where near the intensity of the 5 bulb setup.

So, at some point, I need to understand....since lumens are not summable in total concentrative levels, what is it that I am missing?

Each bulb is 55W.....so @ 5 bulbs, being the WATTS ARE SUMMABLE I have 275W producing 23,000 lumens.

Since a WATT is a unit of energy USED and not energy emmitted or displaced....the more lights I use the lower the lumens I get per watt.

This doesn't add up.

You need the wattage to power the lumens.

Now we know that 2 600W HPS lights will light up an equal area far brighter than say a 1000W HPS....since we're talking lumens and thats a fixed 1 sq. ft. measurement....watt...er...what is it that results in higher light from the 2 600W HPS setup than the single 1000W HPS setup?

Well thats energy used not displaced.....so that cant be it.

What else is it?

Even still having 2 600watts is better than just 1 1000watt. You could use a 1:1 ratio MH to HPS and have your self set from veg to flower.
