Not an expert, but you can spread more light out with 2 600's you would also have two bright spots instead of one.. from what I read 600 are the best lights to have 2 of.. I qoute "The 600-watt bulb has the highest lumen-per-watt conversion (150 LPW) and can be placed closer to the canopy of the garden than 1000 or 1100-watt bulbs", so two would be ideal.. I wish I had two.. I am thinking of getting a 600 watt after my first grow and put it with a 400 watt..

Once again, not an expert... but i can tell that a 1000 Watt light should not rise any suspicions. I would expect you would have to have a major operation with several 1000 watt HID. I bet if you made some adjustments to your daily activities you would save what you are spending on the HID, like instead of using 100 Watt bulbs around the house go to 60, or switch to those light saving bulbs that plug into a regular light bulb.. I dont think anyone is gonna notice an extra $30-$40... I would wait for some more advice from other people.. this is just my 2 cents..

2-600's will definitley be better in 90% of all situations.. Especially if you wish to cover a larger surface area..

Yes seedking is right about the alteration of lights...
I replaced all house lights with the small shitty CFL's they sell in stores.
I have saved a couple of thousand watts in the whole house (I have a big house)

Or 1 1000w HPS light 140,000 lumens with a light mover will give more lumens and better coverage then 2 600 (2) @ 92,000 lumens.
just to make the topic intresting

I would go with the 600's, if you get the Philips SON-T bulb you will get 92,000 lumens per bulb. 600's do have the most lumens per watt and do run a lot cooler then 1000w but you are going to pay a lot more for two 600's. with a 6X4 room that gives you 24 sqft, with a 1000W thats 41 watts per sqft. with two 600's its 50 watts per sqft. you want 45 to 65 watts per sqft to get the best results.
