hey you cant totally blame it on her. she just doesnt want you to be smoking weed and mess up your life. i know she thinks that cuz shes not totally educated on it, but still. try to do whatever to get her to understand cannabis. but its not really helping if youre just gonna call her a stupid bitch. shes just watching out for you

This is somewhat inaccurate and misleading. While is true that the majority of people who start off using marijuana do not go on to become users of harder drugs like heroin or cocaine, the vast majority of people who are regular users of harder drugs did start with marijuana. Thus, there is at least some evidence that marijuana use can lead to the use of harder drugs, but it is by no means a given that this will occur. It's not that the use of one drug magically creates a chemical craving for another, it's that once the natural initial reluctance to try drugs has been broken with the introduction of the rather pleasant and benign experience of marijuana, it becomes easier for the individual to experiment further with other drugs.Quote:

Not even close. According to various sources, the number of Americans who regularly smoke marijuana varies between about 15 and 20 million, mostly depending on the definition of "regular user". Given that the current US population is about 270 million, this works out to between 5.5 to 7.4 percent of the total population who are regular users. Obtaining worldwide figures is more problematic, but I can see no reason why we cannot extrapolate the US figure to a good first-order approximation. I don't know what the percentage of regular heroin users is, but no doubt you are correct that it is considerably lower than the figure for marijuana use.Quote:
