Do what I am doing friend,I veg using flourecent lights, then put them under 1000w hps for flowering,it cost me about $54.00 bucks a month canadian on a 12\12 cycle ,thats at almost 8 cents a kilowatt.......now if I used hps during veg it would cost me about $80 a month at 8 cents a kilowatt.....
8 cents a watt?
wow....whats that come to U.S.?
I know here where I am, they charge by the watt based upon the time of day.
So juice used during the middle of the night is only 3.4 cents p/watt. See if they charge similar based upon useage and I was able to time my grows and flowers and my bill only went up $6.00 a month...
Of course I did wholesale swap out incandescents in the house with floros.

Power companies bill for energy, not power. The energy unit used is the kilowatt-hour, and 8 cents per kW-h is about average for the US. Bear in mind that energy usage is not the only charge that power companies impose. Most also add on something which may be called a Fuel Delivery Charge or something similar, which can vary from a few cents to 10-12 cents or more per kilowatt-hour, and may have various price points, depending upon your electric usage.

Sorry, those things drive me crazy. Like calling Kelvins "Degrees Kelvin". Arg! :D
How about
6400 Calvin temp.

my energy delivery charge is a flat $12.00 per month.
Yes, you can use floros for veg and hps for flower. I have amazing results doing that.
I use CFL's for vegging, and a 150hps for flowering and I get way better buds than I ever did buying from the market. Good luck! :)
wow thats a cool little plant there. It glistens.
