instead of looking for "relaxed" laws elsewhere why not work on the source...u.s. government! all the bitching and moaning done here is no better than the preacher preaching to the choir. take the time you will spend here replying to this thread and write where it'll do some good!
www.norml.org has all the links needed to write to everyone's senators and congresspeople. plus they offer form letters...all ya do is fill in your personal info and it's sent directly to your politican. most will reply whether you're a registered voter or not. also www.mpp.org needs your assistance for the same...get busy doing some good and work for the change that'll affect the whole world!
Do you have any links for organisations that aren't only based in the US?
Do you think that the United States will ever admit they made a mistake? If you awnser that then you just awnsered your own question.
I prefer just to live as if it is legal. I've been in a few sketchy situations when it comes to smoking in public, but I've yet to be arrested. :D
Of course, I wouldn't really spark up if I was going to the policeman's ball or something, but smoking downtown or on a restaurant patio is generally gotten away with.
The War on drugs is a statically losing battle, costs billions, and is proven to hurt people more than help. I am all for drug awarness programs though. The education system has the whole drug awarness program ass backwards. The only preaching I had in school about drug abuse was during my grade school years. A DARE officer would come in, maybe once a year, and tell you that if you use any subtance you will become a loser forever. Drug awarness programs in Highschool? Hmm there weren't any. With the exception of a small section out of my Health and Psychology textbooks.
Yeah really, you always hear "honesty is the best policy," but the cops never seem to practice it when they cop to your school and tell you one puff off a doobie will land you in a MENTAL INSTITUTION. Because as soon as someone tries it, and realizes they haven't gone mad and murdered their family, they start to think that everything they've been told about heroin and speed is just as wrong as what they heard about weed.
The USA would play it off some how if it did go legal.Quote:

And it's true that far too many young Americans think that smoke is legal and completely acceptable in Amsterdam. I've been there several times....it's tolerated to an extent, but you still have to be somewhat careful. Especially if they know you're from the States. And lately my friends overseas tell me that the government of the Netherlands is trying to put the clamp on the coffeeshops. Several have been closed due to pressure from the government.
If you want to find other countries that have relaxed cannabis laws, we first have to change the laws here. Our government puts so much economic pressure on other countries that they are forced into being puppets of the U.S.
Onward!
