It is illegal in NM to purchase from anyone other than the LNPPs

I appreciate that alfonso2002 and I suppose my issue is that instead of voicing their opinion, as I do mine, they also attack. It should be enough to respond without calling someone names. My comments were not directed specifically at you as you (thus far) have not been the one to call me a liar or a pretender. I have stated that I am a registered patient and work closely with a producer. I have not stated, nor will I, in what capacity that is. You can assume it is the financial arena in that I have also stated in another post that I am an accountant. :-)

You also asked what part of this sentence meant: "if you are buying medicinal grade on the street more power to you and it will be difficult (but not impossible) to tell the legal from the illegal. However, if you are purchasing anything other than medicinal grade, law enforcement knows the difference and should you be detained..." If a patient is purchasing medicinal grade cannabis on the street and not from the producers, it may be difficult for law enforcement to tell how the patient obtained said medicine if it is not in labeled packaging. However, if a patient has "brick" in their possession and is busted, law enforcement will know that it didn't come from a LNPP. A LNPP would never compress their medicine!

BTW - you continued in your next post and asked if anyone has tried the low-priced strain from SWOP as to whether or not it is street-grade or medicinal-grade. If a patient is supposed to be able to tell the difference...shouldn't law enforcement be able to tell the difference as well?

A patient would know the difference by medicating with it and see the effect that it had on them.DUH if it is "brick" then there is a difference in the look of the cannabis. Did not know there was still brick available on the streets. I had heard that the cartels in Mexico had started greenhouses in which to grow grade and that is what is being brought now. I see there point if they are risking moving that then why move low price and grade when they can make more with grade.One question why would a LNPP never compress their medicine? There are many strains that have real airie buds and something has to be done. Have you ever heard of Thai sticks? Maybe the LNPP's might not be using any of those strains but there are some and the cannabis they produce is very good.

The only reason to compress "pot/brick weed" is to maximize the weight per capacity when illegally smuggling it into or around the states. LNPP's don't deal with 'pot' and they don't have these issues.

What would you do? Compress airy medical cannabis buds like brick weed?

It begs the the old trick question: which weighs more an ounce of airy bud or and ounce of brick weed?

One final followup question: Help me out here because I'm trying to follow your logic....
If LNPP's tied airie buds to sticks would that make it better? or wouldn't you be paying more for the additional weight of sticks, string and the labor to tie it all up?

I don't think that you damage the trics too much as far as I have seen. Also a cure that is done properly will have better flavor and effect.As far as bag appeal is that what people want? I personally am not that swayed by it. The effect it what I look for.As for your last question No it will not make it any better. As a licensed medical patient with only 3 years under my belt, Iâ??m sure I do not qualify as an expert. To answer your question I can only refer to my limited experience and personal preference. Yes, Iâ??m sure there is good weed on the street. And at any given moment it may be cheaper then what LNPPâ??s can afford to sell it for. Or not. Two of the older producers have proven that with time and the support of patients, the price of medical cannabis will come down and be more affordable for many New Mexicans.

As a patient, I can understand if someone is hurting and all they can afford is weed. No decent person could find another at fault for doing what they need to do to, just to get by. The law however, doesnâ??t care how bad someone is hurting. In their eyes, the law is the law. IMHO this is precisely where the rubber meets the road in the difference between pot and medical cannabis. For me personally it is worth the hassle and at times added expense, to work strictly within the NM medical cannabis system. My health and my liberty are not worth risking

I think we are talking about two different things here.
Compressing and curing.
I'm not aware of any curing method that involves compressing. But then again I have only been licensed for 3 years and as I have stated before I am not an expert. I have been taught that curing takes time, a controlled environment including heat, humidity and most importantly controlled air movement to facilitate the proper oxidization (curing) of the buds. If there is a methode that includes compressing buds, tell me about it, I'm all ears.

I can tell you this: Medication (Buds) that have been handled roughly, loose a great deal of trichomes. Trichomes are very fragil and break off very easily. My point is if you throw a bunch of weed in a trash compactor (brick weed) all you are ever going to get is a bunch of trash. Unless you knew what the weed was like before it was smashed and compressed you can never really appreciate how much medication was lost.

If you doubt me, try this at home. Take a few grams of good bud and place them on a silkscreen over a piece of clean glass and simply trim the buds (give the a slight hair cut). When you are done, remove the silkscreen and scrape the surface of the glass with a stiff business card. That pile of dust you just scraped up is pure trichomes or keif. this is exactly what you are missing from weed that has been mishandeld or compressed. Still doubt me? Try the same experiment with brick weed. Guess what? there will be very little trichomes, if any at all. You see it's not really about how a bud looks, it's about how well it's been handled and how much has NOT been lost due to rough handling.

Still unsure? Try this: pick up a magnifying glass or a microscope and compair a compressed bud verses an uncompressed bud. note the lack of trichomes on the compressed bud.

Curing for three months is awesome! When I harvest my personal grow I always go for the long cure, it just tastes better to me. I would like it if LNPP's offered a double cured medication, one that has been cured for 4 to 6 months. If you have ever tasted a good Lemon Sour Diesel that has been cured for 6 months, you know what I'mn talking about..... Oh sweet lemon goodness!

this is an old oriental way of curing buds. they were originally brought back by soldiers who were stationed in Thailand and thus the name "thai stick" the cured bud is so strong that many people thought that they were dipped in opium, though that not true. thai sticks are deceptively simple to make and can be stored almost indefinitely. they consist of buds that have had a bamboo sliver or skewer ran through them and cured.

the proses

Step 1 - after drying pull out your medium quality buds, less is also possibal but i save those 4 hash and top quality is wasted on this.

Step 2 - find some bamboo skewers or just use the stems from your plant, and run about 6-12 inches on to the stick

Step 3 - wrap tightly in plastic completely be sure it is compleatly sealed and wrap as tight as you can with duck tape

Step 4 - dig a hole about 4 ft. deep and place the sticks in the bottom of the hole. if you have more than will fit you can layer with dirt, just make sure there is dirt between them.

step 5 - wait about 3 months and dig up, the buds will have become almost hash like and solid with resin.

and tada you have thai sticks, i know it sounds odd but if you try it, you won't be let down. in my experence a singal hit of thai stick is enough 2 put any hardened smoker firmly on his/her ass, not for the week at heart. Now you do have to be sure of how much moistuer is in the buds or you might have a problem with mold.

Case in point. You are never too old to learn something - every day
